The Unofficial Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Rulebook

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering about DMoC errata's ruling where he would still banish the monster if he crashs. Wouldn't that contrast the Blackwing Ruling at the end of the OCG section?

If "Dark Magician of Chaos" battles a monster with the same ATK and both monsters are destroyed by battle, this effect still activates, and the opponent's monster is banished.[1]

When monsters destroy an opponent's monster by battle and also destroy themselves/otherwise is removed before the end of the Damage Step won't activate, in other words, they work like Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame now, which greatly simplifies that.

No, cards like Shura activate at the end of the Damage Step, when the monsters is already in the Graveyard, so they can't activate, however Chaos has not left the field yet, so it will still activate.

The Org released the 2016 Perfect Rulebook, check it out if you're interested. Keep in mind that these are for the OCG, so there may be contradictions, but it does provide a general view of the game regardless, and 90% of it can be applied to the TCG (though do research if it actually does). I don't believe there are any major changes in here, but I haven't read it all yet, if you find any yourself, I would like to know.

The 3 victory conditions of a Duel!!

(1) If the opponent’s LP are reduced to 0.

(2) If the opponent must draw a card and they are unable to draw a card.

(3) If the conditions for cards that can win the Duel are met.

Turns out that according to (2), you win the duel if you chain Droll & Lock Bird to Heart of the Underdog.

EDIT: Oh sheet, bad example. But you get what I'm saying anyway.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but I just think that's bad wording, the idea is that you are suppose to draw, but you got no cards left to draw.

I'm not joking. These are rules and they should be worded literally, not in some wishy-washy metaphorical way.

It's not obviously wrong unless you know the rules already.

You may have heard about the new Link Monsters, the rule changes regarding Extra Deck Monsters and the whole new field layout. For now, the information is quite vague and there are still many questions I want answered before I feel confident in updating this thread. In case you want to learn what we have so far, you can go here:

Link Monsters, Extra Monster Zone and more! The new era of YGO is here, so a lot of sections have been updated to reflect that, as well as a whole new section called "21: Link Monsters", as well a new sub-section called "3.3.11: Link Monsters" (not a full overview, see "21: Link Monsters" for that). Sections that have been updated include "4: Playing Field & Gamemat" for the new field related changes, "20: Pendulum Monsters" for changes regarding Pendulum Monsters with the new field and Extra Monster Zone rules, and also some other smaller changes here and there, such as updating images and what not. Also, I have removed the OCG only section, as everything in there is either already part of the TCG or outdated, so it isn't necessary anymore.

Please let me know if there are any issues or sections I forgot to update.

The new series 10 rulebook has been released, and with it, some small news, but important ones, previously, cards that would activate at the same time could normally be put into any order, with the exception of cards that triggered a tiny bit after. An example of this would be using Junk Warrior and Sonic Warrior's effects at the same time, before Sonic Warrior MUST be Chain Link 1, as it was sent to the Graveyard before the Synchro Summon happened, but now you can choose to make it Chain Link 2, boosting Junk Warrior's ATK by much more.

It's once again time for a new format, the YGO Sevens anime and new Master Rules! I will be of course be updating this once we know everything, as there may be changes and new card types coming, it is too early to tell, however the first piece of information is quite signifigent, as it changes the game to a mixture of pre-Extra Monster Zone and the current format, by letting you Special Summon Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters to the Main Monster Zone with no Link Monsters required. Here's a breakdown of the change as well as a video from the official TCG channel.

Source: https://ygorganization.com/extra-deck-rules-update-also-arriving-to-the-tcg-04-01-2020/

>You can place Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters that you Summon from the Extra Deck in an Extra Monster Zone, OR a Main Monster Zone, even if it’s not being pointed to by a Link Monster.
>Link Monsters and Pendulum Monsters being Summoned from the Extra Deck still follow the current rule, where they must be placed in either the Extra Monster Zone, or a Main Monster Zone that is being pointed to by a Link Monster.

Here are some more detailed ruling questions regarding the new change, nothing that wouldn't be fairly obvious in regards to the old rules, but in case you were wondering if anything would be too different, you shouldn't need to worry:

So the new Master Rules are getting more updated rules, at least in the OCG, for now we don't know how much of this will be implemented in the TCG. There are a lot of quite important changes, the activation location and negation ones being the ones I think most people will feel. It's big, so I will just link to it:
