A Look Into YCM's History - A Request of Sorts

goddamnit names are a pain

Recommended Posts

Draco Straybyrn aka Wahrheit is back on YCM, is still running SummaXR (or was until last summer), I believe posted in this thread, and is off to law school next year.

Shows how much the fuck I know. I responded to him in this thread once before last time I was online. Well hey, good for him at least. He's got his life together far more than I do.

Pfft Matt and Gus have their lives together far more than most people in this thread.

Things have come a long way for me too Josh. Not just changing my behaviour here though. My Girlfriend Ashley who I am in total love with and for finally moving away from my housemate are two things I have done to get my life together :P

I still remember introducing James to Pat and company.  He was ecstatic to hear about Organization 13.  "Clubs like this exist?"  Something to that effect.  He didn't have too many pals on deployment, even though they are family.  So Org. XIII was his home away from home.  He ended up getting into all the things I was into at the time.

KH

Bleach

Naruto

All the things I used to care about.  And then when he up and fucking died on me, something changed.  I guess I changed.

I mean, this dude had went and claimed a name for himself.  He was kind.  He was popular.  He was decent at the YGO cardgame.  He had no enemies as far as I know.  He was trustworthy.  He was my complete opposite.  And now he's fucking gone.  And even though it's been a few years, it still hurts like hell.  I think that was why I left a while back.  Because I still heard his name and saw his face on YCM.  Though I'm pretty sure the club fell apart long before he died, it still bothers me to even talk about it.

Speaking of Organization XIII.  I used to be such a fucking brat.  I said some totally intolerable and bigoted shit.  Things I didn't understand until about a year or two ago.  And man, I made some fucking enemies behind that shit.  I'm glad most of that shit is repaired now.  I ain't the type of dude to hold a grudge or shit like that.  And for those who let it go and forgave me, I'm grateful.  For those of you who are still pissed, I've already apologized.  I ain't gonna do it again.  But I think for the best interest of many, the Organization had to die.  Maybe I'm being selfish.  That's fine with me.  I just don't think the Organization still being around (in the state it was in) could have been a good thing.  Maybe I should say it wouldn't have been a good thing for me?  I think that's more accurate.  I would probably be me now, but have hatred towards it.  Especially since now one of my closest friends who was apart of that is dead.

I wouldnt say my life is together...

I don't know, we're graduating and stuff. That has to count for something. I don't know how you finished up, but I've got highest honors. :)

Here is an IRL picture of the terrible and mighty Wahrheit / Draco Straybyrn (does saying my name not get me banned anymore? cool) - looking appropriately menacing.

And here's one of me from when the street preachers visited campus two weeks ago:

You just got banned, I got banned, and 76% of the people who viewed your post just got banned to keep them quiet. Welcome to Old YCM.

But I must say, good to see you're doing well. I always figured you would, anyway, but still.

I used to talk to Miranda very often (noted because of the earlier post mentioning her), and she did mention Larxene on numerous occasions. I never had much care for the appropriate individual, but seeing them post reminds me of when I still spoke with her.

I remember Starrk more for the Vocaloid club. Kaito, too, though he still appears once in a while.

Thanks, I appreciate that. How about you?

BTW, my lease in Chicago starts June 29 - there will be plenty of pictures.

I've had my personal ups and downs. In terms of a career or living on my own, there has been no progress. I'm almost 23, have no job, and still live with my parents. Not that I'm particularly complaining the last point, since I'm living rent-free. And I will continue to do so until another feasible option presents itself. I've been at community college for a while, trying to figure out what the hell it is I want to do. I've got no shortage of options; I've aced every class I've ever taken there. I'm thinking of going into programming. It's about the only thing I've taken a class for that has sparked any sort of interest in me. But it'll still be quite some time before I can get a job out of it.

How far back are we talking? I've been here since 2007.  Certainly different now than it was in the golden days.

There were no golden days in YCM.  Sure, there has been higher quality, but I've been here almost as long as you have.  I lurked for a year before joining.  This place has always been a mess.

2009-2010 is often referred to as the Golden Age for most people here. 2011 to an extent as well, but mainly 2009-2010.

Over 7 Years Already? Fuck, time has flown for me here. YCM is not as great asitwasd but it is still fun posting here from time to time. 2009 and 2010 were the best times for me.

The thing is, by "golden age", we just mean the peak of activity, not actual quality.

Back in those days, Clubs & Organizations had their post count enabled + yeah that somewhat explains why a lot of members were already in the high 20K posts, if not higher.

And CC had ragnarok to an extent; for right now, his 50K post count is not going to be passed anytime soon.
