CLG Klavier
I figured having a topic for this could come in handy, especially with the outburst of various MOBAs we are getting lately. The genre is picking up the pace clearly, and I can't help to wait until it develops since it's my favorite game genre for a long time now. Shradow
MOBA is a sweet genre of games. However I've played both LoL and Smite but lost interest in both after a couple weeks, the only one I've played for a long time is Awesomenauts. CLG Klavier
I wonder when will people start calling games "DotA/LoL copies" and accept this is becoming a genre. Each MOBA has its own fun twist to it. Smite is TPP. Magicka WW is just silly all around. Strife looks similiar to LoL, but as far as I saw, there are tons of differences. It's just a matter of time until it all REALLY evolves.

FPS's were originally called Doom clones.  OT: I really only play LoL.  Played the tutorial in DoTa 2.  Tried Smite.  Didn't really like Smite.  Then again, I haven't played much and I hated League when I first tried it. EHN.
They shouldn't really call them 'Lol/Dota copies' as both of those are heavily based of Warcraft 3, which is basically the mother of all MOBA's. Though obviously Riot and Valve turned the genre into something completely different and made it way more advanced.
Sander
I cannot stand MOBAs. The whole aspect of not seeing the game in a first person / third person perspective just rubs me in the wrong way.
Shradow
They have third person ones, though. I'm not sure about any first person ones, since, unless it were a special kind of MOBA, I think it'd limit your view too much, in the same way a lot of game genres don't have first person options. Brinolovania
I've played LoL for about a year, and I've tried a bit of Strife (it does seem kinda fun). Â I like the style more than I expected too, having to work with other people 'n stuff. The name MOBA is kinda bad, though.
Aerion Brightflame
Actually in the history of the Genre, DOTA was used as an alternate name for MOBA's (Or technically the other way around), since DOTA was the founder of the genre.  There is a First Person MOBA, whose name was something like 'Monday Night Madness' or something along those lines. It was apparently quite popular.  I've plated DOTA 2 for a few months now, and follow the competitive scene as well as I can. I've watched a few VOD's of LoL, but it's just not my cup of tea from that impression. Elaborating why might make a few arguments which I'd rather just avoid outright.  I just like that the genre is getting more recognition from major E-Sport associations. Stuff like TI4 and that are great news for the genre.

Tentacruel
It's funny because MOBA is such a specific genre yet it has such a generic name.  I think a lot of elements of MOBAs (emphasis on making it an actual competitive game, teamwork, balance) should be applied to all multiplayer games, except the intentionally casual ones.
ZeRainbowDash
I've played Dawngate, a hell of a lot of Smite, and I'm still learning League of Legends, and I like them all, but smite is my personal favorite. When I can get into a LoLgame and not get attacked for being new and still hazy on what I'm doing I'll be happy with League, but a lot of the community are just straight dicks, pardon my French,a nd no offense to anyone on here. If you want to play with me, either add ThorgrimZx or RainbowDash90000. i rally enjoy playing with friend, even if I'm total crap at the game (which I am)
liamconnorr
Mobas a great but it kinda killed my taste for games. I've been playing dota2 for about two years, the problem is that I dont like to play any other game. I have bought bunch of new games, but I have only spend few hours on them :(

Tentacruel
I tried Dawngate.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGUaLTLiFLc   I also tried a little more Dota.  And by that I mean the tutorial.  I think I could get into it.  I just have limited time and would rather keep playing League.
ZeRainbowDash
Same principle with me and playign League. I don't have to time to learn how to play it well enough to not get pissed off when I go 0 and 18 because I'm new and used to WASD controls. I've been playing Smite for about 7 months now. One level and 4 more Mastered gods and I can start playing Ranked matches.
VlausHieme
Starhawk could be considered a MOBA with the interesting twist of you are allowed to build stuff which is neat for a MOBA. I have played League of Legends, Dota 2 and, Awesomenauts plus a few more.
Makο
Starhawk could be considered a MOBA with the interesting twist of you are allowed to build stuff which is neat for a MOBA. As much as I love Starhawk, I can't really agree with ye here. For the multiplayer aspect, it lacks a bunch of stuff that normally makes up a MOBA, such as creeps or items. But, I guess I can see where ye are coming from, with the resources being sorta similar.   I have myself League and Strife. I'm on a team for the former, and I dabble in the latter. 'Tis a good game. Maeriberii Haan
Still waiting for Heroes of the Storm, though I'm mainly a DotA and DotA 2 player. Interested in playing LoL too, though lately can't really spare my time to play any.
