"Dark Blade" + "Kiryu

When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: You may equip 1 Appropriate Union Monster from your Graveyard to this card. When this card attacks or is attacked: You can destroy any Union Monster equipped to this card, then gain 900 ATK during the DMG step only. When a Union Monster is equipped to this card: Draw 1 card.  If this card would be destroyed by a card effect; You can destroy 1 Union Monster equipped to it instead. This card's name becomes "Dark Blade" while it is on the field or in the Graveyard.

 

So it's Dark Blade.

With Kiryu.

Because Kiryu > All.

 

I wanted to give Kiryu actual use in a deck, some Union Support overall, and Dark Blade is awesome anyways, so here you go. The idea of the card is to utilize the Union Effects of Kiryu and Pitch Dark, in addition to having a better body/protection than old DB.

This would't work.  Union monsters have that restriction where you can only Equip one Union at at time. 

"1 monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time."  - Kiryu

 

They all have that effect... So the most this monster can get at a time is one Union.  Making him pretty weak for that reason.  He can't continually gain power.  Hell, I'll be honest with you, even if this wasn't the case he'd still be pretty weak.  Union monsters are so bad you have to give seriously high incentive to use them.

I knew about the restriction.

 

The card can be summoned, and upon inflicting damage equips Kiryu again for 3400 ATK and you draw 1. Not only this, but if it would be destroyed in any way, it can just pop Kiryu again and then re-equip it, drawing another 1. It's not the best, but Dark Blade's got next to no good support, so at least this does something.

 

Unless you propose I make the Equip Restriction "Once per turn," instead of just from inflicting damage, that would effect the card. In another sense, I assume I might be able to word it in such a way that it ignores the Maximum Number of Union Monsters it can have equipped.

As for getting over that equip restriction give it this effect:

"When this card attacks or is attacked: You can destroy any Union monster equipped to this card, then gain 900 ATK during the DMG step only."  

 

This way his effect will always trigger and that can always allow you to keep adding the unions and get them out of your deck so you'r not just stuck with one.  I appreciate the Anti-destruction but that really means so little in Yugioh when Compulsory, Honor Ark, Castel exist.

I acknowledge that destruction immunity is weaker now, but understand, if he already has a Union equipped, it's probably Kiryu, which means gaining the same ATK Kiryu gives all the time is pointless.

It would trigger his ability, yes, but that would be sacrificing Destruction Immunity for an additional draw.

So?  The way it's worded Mirror Force wouldn't destroy it...  You're only fear are cards like Honest or Lance.  Besides I made it Optional... Suspect an Honest or Lance?  Don't activate, that simple.

Oh, I see. You meant to add the effect, in addition to it's immunity. That's actually kinda useful like this. I'll add it.
