Prologue (March 25, 2008):

The teams had assembled. Righteous crusaders Shiina Faust, Dario Bossi, and Rink assembled on Saqrundican Operations Starbase to ensure the Dread Lords were never released again. Wind Samot and Sir Zulthan III wanted to use the power of the Dread Lords for the betterment of others, and Sakura Suki had followed along Sir Zulthan's money trail. Jack Daniels and mercenary Magnus sought Dread power for their own gain. Now, they were all about to find out if they were up to the challenges ahead: whether or not they could survive, and whether or not it was worth it.

The three-person flying houses had been assembled. It would take twenty-five days to reach the Gauntlet as the crow flew, and many challenges lay ahead. It would take perfect coordination, creation skill, teamwork, and tactics to successfully create cards to adapt to their challenges and reach the Gauntlet as soon as possible. This thread chronicles their attempt to take on their first set of obstacles and reach the Gauntlet alive.

RULES:

  1. Don't post here if you aren't in the UFCDCII. If you're in, but not on a team, then feel free to post as though you were on Saqrundican Operations Starbase.
  2. No script format. This should be as much like a novel as possible.
  3. Use the best grammar and conduct you can. Treat it like an incredibly important English paper. If it's evident you aren't trying your hardest, I'll write you out.
  4. Stay in-character. Pure Good should feel much more animosity towards Pure Evil than Chaotic Good. Teams can even form alliances to try and tackle the stages cooperatively (Pure Good and Chaotic Good are most likely to form an alliance). However, as soon as two teams meet, they duel.
  5. If you cheat, your team instantly vanishes and Lord Dread finishes the current round with victory for your opponents. Don't do that; you'll earn the wrath of at least nine people.
  6. This is less important, but still vital. Post the date and fictional time (in 24-hr clock) at the beginning of your posts. Starting time is 1848 hours on the 25 of March, 2008.

"Mission's log: Commander Jack Daniels. March 25, year 2008, time 1848 hours." Jack looked out the port-hole to the stars beyond. He commented on his surroundings, the craft he occupied with another mecenary, Magnus. He thought he could get along with his teammaate well enough, especially since they shared a common goal.

...Lost in Thought...

'Yet again, a hunt for world domination. Either that or to stop it. When will the battle stop...the feud between Good and Evil. hmph, Good and Evil. It's all but an illusion. it's power that is true...just power...that is what all are really after...

'These fools...thinking that they can even attempt to seize the power of the Great Dread...what power awaits...only the one who truly understands the right of power can harness the true greatness meant for it's possesion.'

'All that is left is to find the Dreadful power...and to eliminate those fools who seek it...Even if it means working with them...i must seize it and become the ultimate Deity...

He gets up and starts walking through a hallway. Suddenly a young girl *Shiina* bumps into him. "Pardon me," he said. and without even another glance he kept walking. He has now met one of the Arnor. Now he must meet the rest of them.

He walks into the base, where there stood a young man. "Hello, Rink is it?" He waited Pateintly for a response...

Log: March 29, 12:34.

Getting settled in this flying house. I wish i had Jeeves bring my flying house. These accomidations are quite...austere compared to my own. Food is also a problem. Being used to fine caviar and alfredo carbonara, this pre packaged slop that is being shoved down my throat has been giving me a nasty case of nausea. Good thing Jeeves packed antacid. I can always rely on Jeeves in my time of need. Note to self: Give Jeeves 15% payrise. It also seems that the charming geisha on my team has been unusually nice to me. Although it can be rather...uncomfortable to be around her at times, she seems nice enough. I hope she isn't going to be the 89th gold-digger I've met. I can never understand what some people are willing to do for money. Funny. This coming from the richest man on earth. My deck seems to be in order, and my card generator seems functional. This tournament better be worth my time. I can never justify the waste of time. As many cunning business men say, time is money, although money is not of much concern to me. If only Jeeves could be here, he is a rabid astrologer. He would surely enjoy the view. Well, I better get the antacid. Its lunch time.

Broadcast Time: March 30 2008 19:47

I am one of the luckier ones: the built-in broadcast systems in the card generators worked. How glad am I of that. The Champions might have been in for a very nasty surprise if it hadn't worked.

"Attention to all space-bound Champions," I said in my important voice. "We detect an oncoming wave of Space Pirates closing in on your quadrant. It is imperative you use your card generators to create some sort of intimidating beast monster to scare them off. The one who scares the pirates most will get 10 points. Good luck to you." I think the speech was adequate.

These pirates look nasty, though. They've got big ships, too, bigger than we can supply. It's gonna take one hell of a card to get rid of them, but they're like Tusken Raiders: easily scared. Good thing, too. I wouldn't like to think of what it would be like if their courage matched their weapons.

April 6th, 1:09.

Zonbi sat in silence as he listened to the broadcast. He then looked through his deck and smiled. He picked the card up and strode to the observation room. He then placed the card on his Duel Disk. "Come forth, Grave Army!"

The army of graves floated silently in space, until the graves broke one by one, releasing the creatures within, who, moaning and groaning, shambled towards the ships approaching.

Some of those pirates are pretty bold, and they've sent out pods. The pods are small enough to fit in your ships, and carry three dueling machines each. Loss is not an option if you plan to survive, Champions. Ready your decks and prepare to duel.

The floating capsule crashed brutally into the Chaotic Good flying house. Though no damage was done, the Space Pirates were able to board the craft. Converting their scythes into Duel Disks, they prepared to duel.

OoC: When I say Space Pirates, I mean Space Pirates. This is the Metroid Prime style.

OoC: WTF?! All this work, all this hype, and NO ONE'S POSTING?! Credit to TGU for sticking with this to some degree, but, seriously, this is a bit much. This is the LAST BUMP. If no one's posted by the time I log back on, this contest is OVER.

IC:

The Space Pirates indicated that the humans should go first. Zulthan drew, beginning the duel.

OoC: That's the spirit. ^_^

IC: The Space Pirate in front drew first, five cards floating in front of it. It tapped three of them. Two cards were set face down, while the third card appeared face-up: a menacing monster in ATK position.

Space Pirate (DARK)

****

Reptile / Effect

While there is another "Space Pirate" face-up on the field, decrease the ATK of this card by 500 points. When this card would be destroyed as a result of battle, you can remove 1 face-up "Space Pirate" on your side of the field from play to negate the attack.

ATK / 1900 | DEF / 900

The Space Pirate drew, and nodded to his partners. He summoned a Space Pirate in ATK mode and lay two face-downs. Lastly, he played a Field Spell card.

Vantage Point (FIELD)

While this card is face up on the field, all cards with "Space Pirate" in their names cannot be destroyed except as a result of battle.

A massive pillar appeared, and the Space Pirate card jumped on board, aiming its cannons at the soldiers below.

OoC: Your duel doesn't have a tower in it...

IC:

S. Pirates: 11500 LP

Chaotic Good Team: 12000 LP

Space Pirate #2 drew, pleased. He played the Field Spell card Tallon Restriction Center.

Tallon Restriction Center (FIELD)

Decrease the ATK of all monsters on your side of the field by 300 points. Your opponent cannot declare an attack.

He then summoned Sheegoth Child in ATK position.

Sheegoth Child (WATER)

****

Beast / Effect

When this card destroys a monster as a result of battle, if there is another "Sheegoth Child" face-up on your side of the field, you can Special Summon 1 "Sheegoth" from your hand or Deck.

ATK/1600 | DEF/1800

The Chaotic Good duelists watched as the Sheegoth's ATK was reduced to 1300. The Pirate then activated his face-down card, Metroid Restraint Capsule.

Metroid Restraint Capsule (Trap)

Select 1 monster from your deck and remove it from play. When a monster on your side of the field is destroyed as a result of battle, you can Set the removed monster in face-down DEF position. If the removed monster cannot be set, Special Summon it in face-up ATK position.

A card flew out of his deck and into a cylindrical pod that had appeared from seemingly nowhere.

The Space Pirate spoke for the first time: "I'd like to see you try when you can't attack. Your turn," he pointed at Sakura.
