I went to my locals after about a month off from the game to kill some time and see some old friends, it just so happened that today was a box touny. I entered with the deck I've been playing on DevPro for the past 2 weeks.

I bought a Tiger King tin hoping to pull a 101 but pulled a Mistake, Cardinal, and Shared Ride instead. I did pull a Ghostrick Alucard though, which I needed to upgrade my rather outdated extra and a few other decent cards like Trap Hole Nightmare

 

So on to the matches. 

 

Round 1

 

Me vs. Pendulum Gadgets

Game 1: He goes first and sets 1 backrow. I open TGU, Urnight, Dimond Core, other stuff and I draw into MST. I MST his backrow (which was a set MST) Summoned TGU, he had no response so I OTK'ed on turn 2.

 

Game 2: He goes first, sets up his scale and got Odd Eyes to the top of the extra. We grind a bit, but I couldn't keep with all his pluses and free 2500 beater each turn, and he eventually goes off with some Karakuri synchro shenanigans.

 

Game 3: I can't remember exactly what happened but I basically played Fire Fist to grind out the win.

 

I start the day with a 1-0 record. 

 

Round 2

 

Me vs. Fire Fist

Game 1: This girl is the girlfriend of one of the regulars. I've never played against her before so I didn't know what to expect. He boy friend is a bad player and taught her to play so I can't say I was too worried.  Anyway, she made made bad plays (like not searching tenki with leopard)Aftr , I made good plays. I won.

 

Game 2: See game 1

 

After the match I gave her a bit of advice on how to play Fire Fist, she complimented my deck and we joked around a bit until the round was over.

Round 3

 

Me vs. Obedience School Racoon

 

Game 1: We traded resources and both ran out of steam to where out decks each had around 7-10 cards. My only monsters were the TGU engine that was till in my deck and his only out was some card that will let him summon the Naturia Exterio I got over mid game. I top decked TGU first and made Leviathan Dragon, detaching Scarm...he scoops. 

 

Game 2: He gets Exterio first turn and I open triple Crusader.....I scoop.

 

Game 3: Another grind game. He goes first turn Exterio with no backrow. I summon TGU getting Scarm, making Zenmaines to crash. A few turns pass and stuff happened to where I have 2 dead Iron Cores in my hand. My back row holds him off for a few turns. I set the Iron Cores to bluff with a Black Horn...he doesn't attack for 3 turns. I draw a tenki to get Bear...pop his monster and swing for damage, setting another tenki. He top decks his last Obedience School, tries to exceed I show him Horn, he scoops.

Round 4

 

Me vs. Madolche

 

Game 1: He has all the answers, get's out Tiaramisu and I can't do anything.

 

Game 2: I forgot Flying "C" was a card. He stopped my play, made his play, and won.

 

He's a good player and is always willing to help so I was not too upset that I lost.

Round 5

 

Me vs. Burning Abyss

 

Game 1: He opens and set's one backrow. I open with MST, TGU, Urnight, and Diamond Core. I show him the OTK and we go to game 2.

 

Game 2: We grind a bit, but he had more answers than I did. He got out Dante and kept poking for damage, then went into Pleiades to seal the deal

 

Game 3: This was a really fun game. I can't remember what exactly happened but we grind it out for awhile with everyone one watching us play. It ended with Ice popping both his Dante and Pleiades (both with no material since I baited Pleiades last bounce with Ice on the previous turn) and swinging for game. Of course I yelled "Ice wins game" after.

 

Record 4-1

 

The owner of the store decided to close shop and give out prizes based on the finial standings after the 5 rounds of Swiss. The Madolche guy went undefeated (5-0) and I came in 2nd. I pulled a secret Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon, ultra Sinister Shadow Games, and two $3 supers from 12 packs. 

 

As for the deck, I'm really satisfied with it. I just need to update my extra. The only thing I would do is replace is the Trap Stun with Wiretap...while I like Trap Stun better, I screwed myself over a few games where I was forced to use it on my opponent's turn, shutting down my own backrow....
