BREAKING NEWS: Raine bought a drawing tablet!

Well, you did admit you got lazy in the clean-up phase. It's a lovely little sketch. Was it referenced from anything? That would be helpful.

In general, I do think cleaning things up is the key to all good work. It's important to absolutely finish a piece of art every so often, alongside doodles and sketches.

Congrats on the tablet, what kind is it?

Best way for me to give adequate advice is to know whether it's from reference or original.

Without knowing that I can only really comment on what's presented. From that I can immediately tell your lines are quite shaky, but that's complete fine seeing as though this was your first attempt (I'm presuming), in that regard it's a lot better than most can do on the first try. Your shading and blending definitely could use a lot of work but again you're not expected to get it on the first try. Particularly, some areas seem to merely have applied different toned brush strokes while others have a bit of smudging, generally both concepts work but only when you stick to one. You noted that you don't enjoy the clean-up process but that's honestly a major part of it. It does take a bit of skill to do correctly however and most beginners struggle with it so I'd recommend skipping that all-together (for now) and merely working on thumbnails and sketches (b/w or color depending on what you're comfortable with). Side-note, are you new only to digital art or drawing as a whole?

Something else that would help a lot would be knowing which program you're using, I'm assuming it's either PS, GIMP, or Sai. Generally you'd be fine with any of those depending on the media you're creating, seeing as though you seem to be fond of the anime art style those programs would do the job. Aside from using an appropriate program, using good brushes and using them correctly is crucial. For those you can just find a large array of quality multi-purpose and specific brushes on deviantart, most of which are free and come with references on proper application.

Overall it just takes practice and if you apply yourself you'll see improvement, keep it up.

I agree but my tailbone didn't after sitting in the same position for 3 hours as I tried to figure out how to use the thing and do all the stuff I made.

I'll do better tomorrow when I take my next shot and make something a little cleaner but I appreciate it.

Wow, this is a lot and I am loving it.

Umm, well, I purchased a Wacom Bamboo CTH-461 for 30 bucks at a pawn shop and decided to invest and maybe learn it since I do pencil and paper often enough. (I posted one or two on this site before)

I referenced off this image since I was afraid to venture too far out on my first digital attempt:

Again, I realize how important clean-up is and I should definitely be diciplined for that. I was just wanting to gauge what I could do within a decent time slot.

I was using Photoshop CC, I've worked with it once or twice but I get kind of overwelmed by options and fluster on what to do next. That's what led to the smudge/brush mistake, I just don't know what mixs and matchs or even what half the brushed mean. I found the one for the hair and it switched shades of the selected color every timed I touched with the pen. I'll have to keep working and get used to the software I suppose.

Do you know any good general brushs on those sites which might make my days of brush selecting a bit easier?

I can't thank you enough for your comment, it really has me reflecting on my decisions and how I should try to improve. If you have any other tips I would be all ears, you seem to know your business!~ I appreciate it!
