The old version had mild success, mainly depends on how long ebon can stay on the field. Any suggestions? The side deck is for fun (i dont usually side). Dracoswag Posted August 28, 2014 Report Share Posted August 28, 2014 A couple of suggestions (and explanations): Things to remove- Monsters -The GoGoGo engine (While it is not a bad choice to run them, I assure you that there will be less chances for them to hit the Graveyard, and one of the 2 GoGoGo prevents your BP upon using its effect, which is pretty situational given it can only trigger its effect when you Special Summon a copy through Gogogo Giant. DoDoDo is a better alternative given it does not have to rely on a Graveyard to be set-up and is a searchable Cyber Dragon/Rank 4 material.) -1 GaGaGa Child (While its effect is nice for making Illusions on the mark with GaGaGa Magician, you need to open up both this card and GaGaGa Magician to pull it off, not too mention it prevents your Battle Phase which gives you less chances to pull off power plays/ OTK's which Illusions can do naturally with a few combo cards that GaGaGa own. Its a -minus elsewhere) -2 GaGaGa Gardna (It is a decent wall, but due to the fact you have to go -minus to use its effect, it is gimmicky at best. Not too mention you wont be able to rely on its 2000 DEF to save you all game, as in todays modern age your opponent(s) will already have a board set-up to get over this guy. The 1 copy should be enough) Spells -2 Rank-UP Astral Force (Why.. is this in here? Judging by your Extra Deck options, it seems to have little to no use in here. For 1. It makes you Rank Up a material that has a Rank >2< times higher then the monster, and of the same type and attribute, which initially none of your Rank 4 monsters can be turned into.) -1 Gagaga Draw (While it is not a "bad" option for Draw Power, Allure of Darkness is often the better alternative considering Allure can banish any "dead" Dark Magician sitting in hand.) -1 Gagaga Back (This card is too situational for what it is worth. Back then, it was a decent tech option when Gagaga players were running Mystic Tomato and the like, but now with there new support as well as other cards that do what this card does but at a less risk, this card simply does not work out as well as it was supposedly portrayed to be. If you REALLY needed an option to revive any and all GaGaGa to the field, without having to rely on the Battle Phase OR to have a Gagaga monster destroyed prior, then Soul Charge is better in every way.) Traps -1 Gagaga Shield (To be honest, I actually like this card. I had some minor success with it in my own Gagaga build, and it can be very annoying for your opponent to deal with it, but the reason I recommend taking out 1 (or at least Side Deck a copy) is because there are better Staple Trap cards. -1 Dark Renewal (I have had not much testing with this card recently, but it seems good on paper, however re-reading its effect it seems like it can be a -minus. While the option to revive a Dark Magician/Gagaga is always nice, you may not always have a target for it's effect.) Cards to Add+ Monsters +1 GaGaGa Sister (I see no reason NOT too run 3 of her. She searches your combo pieces AND makes it easier to make a Rank 6/7 Spellcaster for Illusions effect. She is an essential card for any GaGaGa Deck, and as such should merit to be in triples. Also, she is often a 1 card Xyz Summon.) +2 GaGaGa Girl (Another essential card too any GaGaGa Deck, reason being she also allows for any Rank (besides Ranks above :cool: to be made, and alongside GaGaGa Magician/Sister, can make illusions with ease. Remember: Due to their new Support, searching out GaGaGa Magician and the like is a lot easier, meaning you wont have to rely on Magician all the time for your Xyz plays.) +2-3 DoDoDo Buster (A searchable Cyber Dragon and Rank 4 option when need be. Also, with Onomotopaira, you will always break even when using this card instead of minusing. At least it has the better alternative of allowing for a Rank 6 then relying on GoGoGo mosnters to already be in the Graveyard for GoGoGo Giant. It is much quicker to use Dododo Buster) Spells +1 Gagagarevenge (There is no reason not to run these in 3. It is the Decks own monster reborn, is a 1 card Xyz Summon, gives your Xyz a free boost on use, searchable by GaGaGa Sister (who in turn is searchable by their academy spell and Onomotopaira)... You see where I am going with this right? Its an amazing tool for Gagagas, and you should never run less then 3) +2-3 Gagaga Acadamy Emergency Network (This card is amazing! searches out your Gagaga mosnters quickly to be set-up in the Graveyard or is often a 1 card Illusions Xyz summon if you play your cards right. Due note: You cannot perform a Special Summon before or after you use this card, so use at your own discretion, but defitnilly run this card since it is searchable by sister. Also, you can actualyl OTK with this card using Machu Mech)+2-3 MST (In todays Meta, I assure you, backrow is the bane of Gagagas existence. Backrow can screw over a lot of plays and you need as many things to hit the backrow as you can.) +1 Dark Magic Attack optional (I suggest this card because thanks to Illusions/Dark Renewal it is really easy to bring out Dark Magician, and as such it makes this card a "themed" Heavy Storm. I think if you can manage at least 1 copy of this card, it can be benificial, or rather go 2 MST/+1 Dark Magic Attack or however you see fit.) +1 Soul Charge optional (A powerful revival tool, and in leagues better then Gagagaback. You may only need 1 as the cost for it is rather high, but if you can find room for a second go for it, but definitely consider this over Gagagaback.) Traps +1 Fiendish Chain/Breakthrough Skill (A deck like this needs protection/effect negation considering how many Monster effects and backrow can screw over Illusions plays. I would opt to use Fiendish Chain since it also prevents the target from attacking, so there is that sense of added protection should you need it.) +1 Compulsary/Torrential (Generally any other Staple Trap you can find room for.) +2 Wiretap (Time and time again, I am hating myself for not running a copy of this or two because there is so many hate Traps that can stop your plays dead in your tracks.) As for the Extra Deck: (Needs much more variety and options so here are my suggestions) -1 Magi Magi * Girl (You only need 1 of her at most, and there is a better Rank 6 Spellcaster you should be using.) -2 Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon -1 Number 101: Silent Honors ARK (While I dont blame you for running a second copy, most of the time you only really need the 1, and you need to vary out your generic Rank 4 as there are better staple Rank 4 alternatives you could be using) -1 Abyss Dweller (Same statement as above ^ ) -1 Giant Hand ( Same Statment as above ^ ) +1 Norito the Moral Leader (The better alternative to Magi Magi * Girl IMO) +1 Lavalval Chain (sets up the Graveyard for Dark Magician to be revived by Soul Charge/Dark Renewal OR for Gagagarevenge) +1 GaGaGa Cowboy (Kind of obvious decision) +1 Daigusto Emeral (Can recycle mosnters into the Deck; Revive Dark magician) +1 Excition Knight (This card is a win condition by itself) +1 Machu Mech (There is a such thing called Machu Mech OTK using a card like Gagaga Girl+Magician or Academy) I hope these suggestions help. Buster is a fantastic idea thank you for that one.!! Gagaga girl will have to make me rethink about how im gonna play this for a bit. ( i tried to avoid using her for a normal summon ) Have up-dated the build. Thank You! I should've tested it by the time i next bump this so i will let you know how well this works later. I cant imagine how Gagagarevenge is "clunky" given its preportions and term of use. I mean, its a free revival tool which is always a good thing imo (and searchable with Gagaga Sister) the only reason I can see it as "clunky" is if you open up with it early and no targets in the Grave OR you already have a board established and your just saving it in the hand should your board get wiped. I would hardly consider running less then 3. The thing about Gagagawind is it is an inherit -1, and a +0 at best. It may be a free Special Summon from your hand, but that is only the case due to Sister being able to search it. It's "okay" as far as tech options go, but I assure you that Gagagarevenge far exceeds it in terms of reliability. I am still iffy about the choice to run 3 Child, but too each their own (let it be known that Child also handles the Special Summon from hand clause that Gagagawind would do, and most of the time you would only use Gagagawind on Gagaga Girl if anything.) Bolt is rather pointless, since more often then not you would just use it as MST, OR just let Ebon do all your removal. Spinny Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Share Posted September 4, 2014 I generally find running 3 dark magician is fine, with things like allure of darkness and onomatopaira it doesnt usually hang in the hand for too long. Bolt is not pointless lol and has saved me a game or 2. Bolt can be searched with sister if absolutely necessary giving you a good removal option. Also why compare it with mst since half of the time i only bolt the front row for monster control. Running three GagagaRevenge gave me them in my starting hand way too often and then they were unplayable and i was indecisive on whether to discard it with onomat. Running 2-3 call of the haunted isnt a bad idea at all. Having 2 child has screwed me on a couple of games for the obvious reason of that i used them all quite quickly. Im really unsure on gagaga girl so ill take her and gardna out for CoTH for now.... Ill update the deck according to the advice u guys have given me.
