Prowess is a mechanic that blue should have gotten a long time ago, but...it really pains me that remaining mechanics will be so simple since Morph takes up most complexity points. Oh well.

It's a mixture of Morph existing and the fact that it's a set with 5 other mechanics in it. As with Return to Ravnica, gotta keep those mechanics simple. This ain't no Modern Masters.

Prowess is basically kiln fiend or that cyclops thing. Unless khans is full of cheap cantrips I really can't see it being a strong mechanic in the meta game.

There is no such thing as a strong mechanic. Only strong cards. If a card with Prowess is pushed enough, as with literally every mechanic in Magic's history, it will see play.

I agree and disagree, there are such things as strong mechanics. Look at cascade. It's such a powerful mechanic that bad cards like violent outburst get played just because it has cascade.

Prowess is a neat mechanic but it really needs the right cards to make it work.

Violent Outburst is still a bad card in nearly all circumstances even though it has Cascade. Otherwise, it would be seeing as much play as Bloodbraid Elf did. Living End makes Violent Outburst good. Not Cascade. If it sees play in Living End, it's not a bad card there. It's good. Thassa isn't good in a black devotion deck, for example. Mechanics depend on cards as environment, cards rely on other cards for environment.

I do get your point, but you don't actually say very much at all by saying whether a mechanic is strong or not. Mechanics don't exist by themselves, they exist on cards. For all analytical purposes, you have to pretend that it's just the rules text and it doesn't have a fancy name.

For simple balance reasons, there will be no Prowess variant that lets you draw a card.

If there is, it will be on a legendary with a prohibitively high cost or something.

Prowess isn't an ability word, so that physically can't exist anyway.
