Danny92
Yu-gi-oh Rise of the Dark Duelists follows the story of Ryuuzaki Yusuke a 17 year old duelist, attending Domino City Duel Academy
Ryuuzaki Yusuke bolted upright in his bed, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. This was the third night in a row now that Ryuu had woken with this same dream, it started in a narrow corridor, lit up by blue lights on the ceiling and the floor illuminating a path towards a metal door, that opened as Ryuu walked towards it. As soon as the door opened he could hear the deafening roar of the crowd in the room that lay beyond, when Ryuu stepped through the door he was greeted by a grand arena, filled with thousands of people all here to watch the duel about to happen. Standing on his side of the duel arena waiting for his opponent, Ryuu’s heart was beating so fast, he could have sworn it was about to come out of his chest. Finally the door opened up and four hooded figures stalked out of the doorway into the giant arena. This was when Ryuu usually woke up, but not tonight, Ryuu had watched the four mysterious figures walk up to the duel arena and stand before him. He could feel the glare on himself from the figures as they all reached up in unison and lowered their hoods. Ryuu was taken aback when the eyes of these people met his own, familiar eyes he knew all too well. Looking back at him were the blue piercing eyes of his three half-brothers and his half-sister, all of his siblings had blue eyes, apart from him, Ryuu had one blue eye like his siblings, but his left eye was emerald green like his fathers eyes. The four Kuramoto siblings stood before him with their piercing blue eyes and perfect blonde hair, no one would have guessed that Ryuuzaki Yusuke was part of the Pro dueling Kuramoto family, with his blue and green eyes and his untidy black hair. Ryuu looked over at the clock on his bedside cabinet, 7:30am the clock read back at him. ‘I might as well get ready now” Ryuu thought to himself jumping out of his bed and opening his curtains, to look out onto the busy street out front. Drying himself off after having a shower, Ryuu couldn’t help but think about his brothers and sister, it had been three years since he had last seen them, why was he dreaming about them all of a sudden? When all he wanted was to forget that part of his life even existed. Ryuu’s mother had been married to the Pro Duelist Nagano Kuramoto, they had had two sons, Sagami and Shinji and a daughter, Azuki. After having three children Ryuu’s mother Azura left Nagano and fell in love with a young mechanic, Takao Yusuke. They were together for two years, before having a son Ryuu. Takao had died in a car accident on his way to pick Azura up from work, when a red car with blacked out windows had run the red lights and rammed into the side of Takao’s car at a crossroads. It was only Takao and Ryuu in the car at the time, and somehow Ryuu had survived the accident with nothing but a scar down his right eye, unfortunately his father perished in the crash and Ryuu’s mother was never the same after. Azura returned to the comforting arms of Nagano after the death of her husband Takao, giving birth to one last son Kyuma before passing away in childbirth. Ryuuzaki had lived with the Kuramoto family until his fourteenth birthday, the Kuramoto family hadn’t treat him well, they never allowed him to duel, while the siblings never included him in anything growing up, even forcing people at there school to ignore him. While Nagano either acted as if Ryuu didnt exist, the very thought that his beloved Azura had left him for three years and had had a child with the worthless Takao, was something that haunted him, or spent time abusing Ryuu for this very same thing. So on his fourteenth birthday Ryuu ran away from home and returned to Domino City were he had lived with his mother and father when he was born, hoping to find his fathers best friend. Ryuu had spent his first four months living on the streets of Domino City, until one freezing cold winter night; a burly man whose arms were covered in tattoos appeared before him, this man covered in tattoos with a bushy brown beard could have been mistaken for a scary guy, but his brown eyes were soft and had a warmth about them, Ryuu recognized this man as Garth Crawford, his dads best friend, he had been in all the pictures that Ryuu had of his father. All that had happened three years ago, now Seventeen years old, Ryuu was living with Garth and had received his fathers deck from him, and had been dueling for the past three years. Ryuuzaki grabbed his trademark dark blue jacket, with the grey collar from his chair and threw it on while walking out of the front door onto the bustling street, Ryuu walked down the busy street pushing his way through the crowds of people on his way to the Domino City Academy for duelists. Ryuuzaki had grown into the spitting image of his father, except for the blue eye from his mother. Ryuu was of average height for a seventeen year old; his messy spiked black hair pointed in all directions, his piercing blue eye countered by the warm emerald green of his other eye, the scar from the car crash going down the right side of his face above and below his blue eye. He had his trademark jacket on, as well as his necklace with the red diamond pendant, and his blue diamond shaped earring. “Ryuu, Ryuu, wait up, stop walking so fast!” the voice echoed out from behind him, Ryuu spun round on his heels wondering who was shouting him. His friend Rose was running towards him, her long brown hair flowing behind her as she ran, a beautiful giant smile across her face. “Hey Rose, whats up?” Ryuu replied as Rose ran up alongside him. “Nothing, I just wanted to catch up to you, did you do that work for Mr Chan?” Rose panted, trying to catch her breath. “Naaa, I had to help Garth fix that car for the Haruka’s” “Ryuu, that’s the fifth time in a row now you haven’t done the homework, you’re gonna get into trouble.” Ryuu rolled his eyes, “Stop worrying Rose, I already know all this stuff, and I have been dueling for a while now.” “Its not a matter whether or not you know it or not, you need to do the work if you want any chance of been allowed to compete in this years Duel Academy tournament, you know if you win you’ll be allowed to join the Pro Leagues.” Rose said with an exasperated tone, as she knew she was wasting her time. “I said stop worrying, Mr Chan will tell me to do the work, I’ll say ok then, never do it, he’ll forget about it, then I’ll win the class duel and enter the tournament, so chill out, anyway I had that dream again last night.” Ryuu said changing the subject. “Again? That’s weird Ryuu, you think it could mean anything?” Rose replied with a scared tone. “Why would it mean anything? Its only a dream.” Ryuu stated, deciding not to tell Rose about seeing his Brothers and Sister in the dream. “Yeah, you’re probably right, anyway we are gonna be late so hurry up” Rose shouted while running off.

“Mr Yusuke, you’re late again, let me guess you haven’t done the work I set either!” Mr Chan said as Ryuu walked into the room. “Ermm, well about that, I kind of didn’t do the work… I had to fix a car instead.” Ryuu replied while walking towards his desk. “So not only didn’t you do the work I set, but you turn up late and then make an excuse about fixing some car? Do you even want to become a professional duelist Ryuu?” “Yeah of course I do, I want to become the World Champion some day, I just have other stuff happening right now.” Ryuu said sitting down. “Well if you really want to become the World Champion, then prove it! Duel me here and now, if you win I’ll forget about all the work you haven’t done and let you be of the class representatives in the tournament, but if I win, you have detention for the rest of the year, and you wont be able to compete in the class tournament, oh and you’ll fail the year… Sound like a fair deal?” Ryuu stood up and started walking towards the front of the class, “So all I have to do is beat you in a duel and then I’m already in the tournament? Sounds like a fair deal to me!” “Ryuu if you lose though…” Shouted Rose from across the class. “Yeah, the key phrase there was ‘if I lose’… and that’s not gonna happen” Ryuu smirked as he turned to face Mr Chan. “I wouldn’t be so confident Mr Yusuke! I’ll go first, I set one monster in defense mode and place two cards face down and end my turn” Ryuu: [4000] Mr Chan: [4000] “I guess it’s my turn then, first I summon Gagaga Magician in attack mode, set three cards face down and end my turn.” Ryuu said smiling as he dueled. Mr Chan laughed at Ryuu, “You afraid to attack Ryuuzaki? Scared of my face down cards?” Mr Chan changed his monster into attack mode using Green Gadgets effect to add a Red Gadget to his hand, he then summoned Tin Goldfish activating its effect to special summon Red Gadget to the field and adding a Yellow Gadget to his hand, he then activated Kagetokage’s effect summoning it to the field. “Four level four monsters, I’m impressed, lets see what you’ve got Mr Chan!” Ryuu said to his teacher. “Ok, I xyz summon the rank four Gear Gigant X [2300/1500] and the rank four King of the Feral Imps [2300/2000], Now Gear Gigant X attack his gagaga magician.” Mr Chan barked his orders. “Not so fast I activate my face down Dimensional Prison to banish you’re Gear Gigant X!” Ryuu said, showing his trap card to Mr Chan. “I don’t think so! I was prepared for this, and I activate the trap card Seven Tools of the Bandit to negate your trap cards effect by paying one thousand life points.” Ryuu: [4000] Mr Chan: [3000] “Now Gear Gigant X, destroy his Gagaga magician” Mr Chan said sending his Gear Gigant X towards the defenseless Gagaga magician. “I activate my trap card Gagagashield! This card makes sure my Gagaga magician can’t be destroyed up to twice this turn!” Ryuu said smiling at his teacher. “But you still take battle damage, now Gear Gigant X and King of the Feral Imps, attack Gagaga Magician!” Ryuu: [2400] Mr Chan: [3000] “I guess its my turn then, I summon Gagaga Sister which allows me to add a Gagaga spell or trap card to my hand from my deck, so I’ll add this card to my hand. Next I activate Gagaga sisters effect, allowing me to make the level 4 Gagaga Magician and the Level 2 Gagaga Sister add there levels together to become two level 6 monsters! Xyz summon Magi Magi Magician Girl! Now I use the effect of my Magi Magi to discard one card from my hand, and send the Gagaga Magician overlay unit to the graveyard, to take control of one of your monsters, I choose your Gear Gigant X, now I activate the card I added to my hand earlier, Gagagarevenge, to summon Gagaga Magician back to the field!” Ryuu said planning his next move. Ryuu sent the Gear Gigant X to attack Mr Chan’s King of Feral Imps. “I don’t think so Ryuu, nice try though, but I activate the trap card Mirror force to destroy your attacking monsters!” Mr Chan said while activating his trap card that would end the onslaught about to happen. Laughter echoed from Ryuu, as the smoke from Mirror Force engulfed his monsters. “Why are you laughing, your monsters have been destroyed!” Mr Chan uttered, taken aback that Ryuu was laughing at him. “Because take a look at the field Mr Chan” Ryuu replied calmly as the smoke disappeared from the field, revealing his monsters to be intact. “What? How?” stuttered Mr Chan “I activated my Trap Card, Dark Bribe, which negated your trap card and destroyed it, but you get to draw one card. Not that it matters because you have no cards to defend you now! Gear Gigant X destroy his King of the Feral Imps! Gagaga magician attack Mr Chan directly! Ryuu: [2400] Mr Chan: [1500] “No it can’t be!” Mr Chan muttered preparing for the end of the duel. “Magi Magi Magician Girl, Magi Magi Blast! End this duel!” Ryuu: [2400] Mr Chan: [0] “Well I guess I underestimated you Ryuuzaki! You’re a very good duelist, and you can go far in this school tournament, you managed to counter me every time I thought I had the upper hand and ended the duel before I had a chance to get back into it.” Mr Chan walked forward with his hand outstretched. Ryuu took his hand and shook it, “You’re not a bad duelist yourself, but I’ve seen you duel before sir, I knew you’d counter my traps and try to counter my attack, so I prepared a tactic that could defeat you.” “A smart move, a good duelist always tries to learn as much about an opponent, be it before a duel, or during. This is the lesson for today students, class dismissed. Oh and Ryuu, congratulations you’re officially in the Duel Tournament.” Mr Chan said as he addressed the class. “Good Luck Ryuu, you’ll need it.” He whispered to himself, looking at the Battle Fader in his hand that Ryuu’s Dark Bribe had allowed him to draw…
