No but seriously, it has it's own kind of charm. It may look like a 5 year old drew it on Paint, but all pieces are admirable in their own way. ^^
This style is pretty neat, imo. Simple shapes, contrasting overlaps, the smudgy background, and the squiggly-line foreground express that even the simplist of shapes with the most contrasting elements can combine to make a neat piece of art.

Haha, thanks. I hid the first simply because I preferred the aesthetic of the second and didn't want 2 huge images taking up space.

But thanks, I take a lot of inspiration from abstract, design, surrealism, geometry and pop art.

I can't say I rather enjoy the squiggles, not because of how random, but rather how shaky they are.  If you could get say a tablet like wacom and smooth them out, I think it would look pretty amazing!  I love the 2nd one, you have a nice combination of a rather detailed focal with other geometric shapes

I'm not going to lie, the first image took the best part of 5 minutes, I opened up Gimp and scribbled because I forgot what I wanted to do. I added the shapes and colours later, so the 'shaky' thing I understand.

I tried to 'smooth' the lines more in the second image by drawing quickly on my laptop's trackpad, it seemed to 'guess' what I had drew so made a much smoother line. I didn't want to use a line/pen tool to create a perfect line, but that is an option.

Thanks for looking and taking time to critique however.

Are you using GIMP or Photoshop?

Can I suggest using the pentool? It draws a line depending on what you plot, and you can curve the lines evenly and make touch ups here and there. It can give a scribble-look that still keeps the lines looking nice and even.

Being a poor student with a phobia of torrenting, I'm left using Gimp, but I know how to use it more than PS. There are PS facilities at my University however I wont have access until October.

I might try the line tool, learn how it works a little more.

I have plans with this work to include a 'collage' theme, cut-outs or images of various objects/things. I see similar work online using classic human sculptures amongst their work and sometimes a random mash, like a Dorito and plant pot.

Currently trying to partner with a photographer who will provide free to use images for my work.

I can upload my portable CS6 to mediafire for you if you like. It's a bit different from GIMP, but the quality you can produce is like 200x better IMO

Sure thing, I'm not entirely sure what's different from portable and the standard version but I might as well try it out

not a thing.  It works wonders, even has the 3d design part.  I haven't noticed any missing features
