-DG- Posted July 24, 2014 Report Share Posted July 24, 2014 I'm in the process of working on a clan website. It's not finished by far, but I still want to get your opinions on the progress so far. The only 100% complete part is the main portal. The home page and "ABOUT" page work, but neither are finished. The other 2 are empty links atm, but will be finished when I get the clan up and running. Most of the stuff is scratched, with the exception of the background which was a screenshot from Halo 4's Impact map, which I used a lens blur and some other effects for both the portal and main BGs, Master Chief was not scratched (But all lights and flares on the Chief are scratched, as well). The Halo logo shape wasn't scratched, but all effects on it are 100% scratched, using mainly satin, patterns, gradients, inner shadows, and bevels. Night Posted July 25, 2014 Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 It's gotten to the point where every year it seems as if I find myself wondering where the fuck you are and what you're up to, then you miraculously get summoned and bless us with an annual site endeavor. As for the critique; Logo The line-work on the wing looks really sub-par to be honest, coupled with the fact that it's a very simple vector, you should definitely re-do it and fine tune it a bit more. The bar beneath the main text should be thinner and it'd look a lot better if it faded lightly from the left and right to the center. Subtext at 60-80% visibility? Could look better. Front-page The 3 stack of centered text forces the eyes, I get the logic, I'm just on the fence of whether it's working or not. I'd suggest re-sizing and putting the "Halo Guild" text in the lower right corner, and/or still re-sizing it but moving it up and putting a transparent bar behind it.The reason for this is because the 3 stack looks too uniform, the logo which is supposed to take 90% of the viewers attention instead is only grasping at 33%, by adjusting the size and placement as I suggested you'll make it a lot more prominent. I much preferred your old sleek and clean BG's, this one isn't terrible though, I just think it could use a bit of "gleam" seeing as thought the rest of the site has a shit ton of lens flares it only seems appropriate. Speaking of lens flares; I'm not a big fan of it on the click-here hover text. I think the dupe effect that you did with the Fortitudo logo on the about page would look significantly more appealing, in my opinion. Main-page Immediately not a fan of the blue-hued duped BG, I'd say keep the one you used for the front-page or scrap it all together. Lens-flares and back-light on the render don't really work in my opinion. Liking the use of the trans-boxes. I also really like the hover-over text. About-page Not much to change here besides some grammatical errors: Our goal here is to provide a top-notch experience as well as provide and top-notch great fun for all of our members, and Halo members alike. We aim to be at the top of the Halo community while still providing a good experiences for all players alike. I'm currently thinking of ways to change the BG, not sure what will look good and detailed but keep with the theme of simple elegance, if you will. I have yet to implement a Halo ring, and those are usually big and flashy. Well see :D I'll work on the logo, it's been bothering me for a while, shouldn't be a hard fix. And I'll experiment with the portal logos as well.
