The concept can work, but it needs a better stat system, a Level system, and limits on what a character can and can't do.

We could use Pokemon's stat system, since it's simple and it works on a forum based game. It also allows people to be more creative with moves, allowing you to have physical and special attacks. It also let's you make Wizards, which is cool.

The Level system is just a way to balance character stats, control stat growth, and will allow Coolspy (or anyone that helps him) decide if a skill is too OP based on the character's level.

Classes would also be good, just to have a base to compare characters to. Or at least some generic characters that are balanced. so we can compare the characters people make to. Maybe some generic skills that can be bought once the money system work.

I am entirely onboard with this idea. Though, I am not too familiar with the mechanics of how Pokemon works so you will have to enlighten me so I can make a basis for my ideas. In response to Rrr comment:
I am actually creating a Doc showcasing what I was going to show Darkmare(coolspy). For anyone who wants too see the document, let me know

Pokemon has

HP - Hit Points, should be pretty obvious what these are for

Attack - Determines how much damage a character can deal with a physical move

Defense - Determines how much damage a character receives from a physical move

Special Attack - Determines how much damage a character can deal with a special move

Special Defense - Determines how much damage a character receives from a special move

Speed - Determines who moves first

That is what the stats should look like. Names can be adjusted if you don't like the current names. Physical moves include things like punches and projectiles, like rocks or arrows. Special moves are things like magic, lasers, and stuff like that.

The damage formula for Pokemon is this

Damage = ((((2 * Level / 5 + 2) * AttackStat * AttackPower / DefenseStat) / 50) + 2) * STAB * Weakness/Resistance * RandomNumber / 100

STAB is a 1.5 bonus the attacking Pokemon gets when the Attack has the same type as the user, if the attack has a different type, the variable is 1.

Weakness is when a move is super effect. Can be 2 or 4, based on the defending Pokemon's type. Resistance is when a move is not very effect. Can be .25 or .5. If the attack is neutral, this is 1.

Random number is a random number between 85 and 100.

Example

So let's say you have a Level 100 Dragonite with maximum Attack, 403. It will use Dragon Claw, 80 base power. Dragonite and Dragon Claw are both Dragon type, so it get's a STAB bonus, 1.5. The defending Pokemon is a Level 100 Jirachi with maximum Defense, 328. Jirachi is a Steel/Psychic Pokemon. Steel resists Psychic, so it get's a .5 bonus. Random number will be 100.

Damage = ((((2 * 100 / 5 + 2) * 403 * 80 / 328) / 50) + 2) * 1.5 * .5 * 100 / 100

Damage = ((((42) * 403 * 80 / 328) / 50) + 2) * 1.5 * .5

Damage = (((4128.2) / 50) + 2) * 1.5 * .5

Damage = ((82.5) + 2) * 1.5 * .5

Damage = (84.5) * 1.5 * .5

Damage = 63.3

Damage = 63~

Buffs/Debuffs

So stuff that increases/decreases stats. Let's go with +s and -s. A +2 to any stat will double it, and a -2 with halve it.

-6 = 25%

-5 = 29%

-4 = 33%

-3 = 40%

-2 = 50%

-1 = 66%

0 = 100%

+1 = 150%

+2 = 200%

+3 = 250%

+4 = 300%

+5 = 350%

+6 = 400%

Just replace the modified stat with the new one. So, let's say Dragonite has +2 Attack. It's Attack would be 806. So the formula would be

Damage = ((((2 * 100 / 5 + 2) * 806 * 80 / 328) / 50) + 2) * 1.5 * .5 * 100 / 100

Or something like that. Don't know. I suck at math.

Rrr, you didn't all of your new skills or edited them on the first page. It has to be on there to be official. Now, I can't accept that skill, but you have 5 hours to make original new skills. And at the end of my lat skill, I had a typo I didn't get to fix because I was doing a lot of things. Mainly Create Battle's development.

Am I doing this right? Your instructions are really badly formatted. Tell me if I need nerfs now before I get started in anything, cuz that'd just be silly changing them later. Though, I may have way overnerfed my character by even decreasing the Health. Whatevs.

His Divine Excellency, Aix - High Magister of the Akashic Records, Walker of the Paths Swathed in Light and Darkness, and Lord and Warden of The Infinite World Lines

The Norns' Prophecy - Boundless Potential [30 Mana] Gain 10 Mana and on each subsequent turn gain twice the Mana of the previous turn.
The Unyielding Throne of God (EXTREME ABILITY) [100 Mana] Choose between gaining 120 DEFENSE until attacked or 90 HP.[/spoiler]

Can you explain your last skill a little more or is that it? Now,I find the EA is about OP, considering 180 DEF will be added to your 190. How long is this added DEF last? If it last untils attacked, this skill could be a staller. Recess can be called change skills, but if you want to change your skills now, be my guest. You can alter your attributes and skills before any battle. And Aix, sorry for the poor formatting. This IS in beta after all.

One thing I forgot mention, you shouldn't be able to leave stats blank. The minimum for each stat should be 10. Also, I don't think you should be able to change how your stats are distributed after you made you're character, since that turns them into a completely different character. Changing skills is totally fine, though.

Also, I have a question. Can we have more than 1 character? Because I don't feel like turning my character into something completely different when I feel like using a different skill set.

Another thing. I think we should be able to change how Health and Mana are distributed, just like how stats are. Like, we could have 350 points to divide between Health and Mana.

This is what's so great about beta. All day, more ideas to incorperate. All such good ideas. Yes Electric, you may save up to 3 characters.

@ Rrr Ok, but since that skill wasn't official, it was negated. Basically you lose a turn.

Posion Airsrtrike!

Health: 300 Mana: 50

BTW rrr, list the damage your skils does. Is the damage from your attribute or seperate? and the death slash attack has a typo in it right? Because it has "ho" in it. It's supposed to mean HP?

White Noise is OP, unless we have a standard attacking option that doesn't cost MP.

Coolspy, do we have that?
