New Pokemon Metagame Idea - Pyramid Battles

So hear me out on this

I got this little nice idea that my friend helped me name "Pyramid Battles"

Basically it goes like this

So you have 6 Pokemon in a team (duh!)

3 of them must be 1st stage Pokemon with one or more evolutionary stages left.

2 of them must be 2nd stage Pokemon with one or more evolutionary stages left.

1 of them must be a 3rd stage Pokemon.

Rules:

1. You must start battle with one of the 3 1st stage Pokemon and cannot use any of the 2nd stage or 3rd stage Pokemon until all the 1st stage Pokemon are fainted.

2. Once all 1st stage Pokemon are fainted, you may send out a 2nd stage Pokemon and must not use a 3rd stage Pokemon until all 2nd stage Pokemon are fainted.

3. Once all 2nd stage Pokemon are fainted, you must use your 3rd stage Pokemon as the final boss.

Banlists will be updated as time goes by, if this idea even gets popular xD On watch list are Pokemon that only have 2 evo stages (such as scyther, who would still be very good as one of the 3 1st stage Pokemon) and Pseudo-legendaries for 3rd stage Pokemon.

Banlist for now:

The only problem I see from this is that it could be easily boil down to 1v1 plus a bit.

Things like Eviolite will be mandatory on the five mons to not be screwed over by the third stage pokemon, which will definitely be a sweeper since other type of mons will simply be unable to be used to its full potential due to the restricted switching.

And with the unability to switch in to a higher stage, setting up will actually be ridiculously easy.

Imagine this: You're both on stage 2. You knocked them out. They send in Mega Charizard X.

With its bulk, you can't simply knock it out with a 2nd stage mon, while he'll just keep using DD/Roost until you're completely sweeped.

Or heck, any 3rd stage sweeper will do.

I doubt every 3rd stage mon will be recovery-setup but I DO see your point.

Though any nonrecovery 3rd stage mon would just be weakened by the other mons until it gets to the final one.

Which won't actually matter with enough boost against your unboosted third stages.

But the main issue is, defensive mons, pivots, and others like that are rendered almost unviable here.

It'll be a contest between offensive powerhouses, which is what 1v1 is.

@Agro - Perfect.

@Arin - I guess in the end not many 2nd stage mons can compete against 3rd stage mons =P

And just wonderin, why wouldnt someone use a bulky tank or wall as their 3rd stage?

They could

But those things are usually weak to some matchups. Sweepers tend to be able to set up first to overpower even their counters.

SO yeah, you can, but why would you?
