magic the gathering appreciation topic

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I've played magic since I was like...6. My mom used to own a hobby shop and we'd have tournaments and had connections with Wizards...the good old days. I still play but I don't keep up with competitive. It's been in my life so long though, in face about to play a few games now.

Since I haven't played the card game in years and don't plan to catch up, I might get caught up on the lore. I already read Test of Metal, but I might read it again to refamiliarize it. After that, I might read the rest of them. I'm sure there's a bundle of those books online I can order.

Yeah, don't read Test of Metal again. It's pretty much been entirely retconned because it was confusing, time travelling nonsense.

The Secretist and Godsend are two pretty good novels, and cover the most recent lore.

Really? I didn't seem to be that confused by it.

But I've been wanting to read Agents of Artifice and Purifying Fire. I'll be sure to check out the ones you mentioned as well.

It contradicts most of the well-defined lore. As it's own thing, it's not too confusing, no, but the writing's average nonetheless.

Agents of Artifice is considered a great novel, and Purifying Fire isn't bad either. Yeah, check those out.
