I'll only watch if this show puts Kirito in the role of girl stuck in the castle while some other character fulfills their main power fantasy.

And then two characters should get into a relationship out of nowhere that everyone else in the show feels goes too fast and it breaks down quickly because they didn't think it through.

And then everyone should get too tired to get to their final goal because zero shortcuts show up to beat the game faster.

And then they'll keep trolling people looking for fanservice by getting into obvious situations, but then only doing fanservice for girls.

Also everyone should find Kirito disgusting.

But since that perfectly self-aware criticism isn't going to happen...

No.

Though tbf, I may do what I did with the rest of the show and just write down everything I thought as I went through each episode. It's usually fun to basically MST3000 shows like that.

Only reason I was really looking forward to it is because GGO was the best arc in the light novels and I thought the animation in the first series was pretty well done, so it'd be cool to see Jedi Kirito in action. As a whole though, I thought it was a pretty "eh" anime that just couldn't live up to the hype that preceded it.

Yeah, this first episode wasn't very good. Some would say it sort of sucked. I would agree.

That's pretty much what I did to Mako while he did that with Aldnoah.Zero. You can guess which one of us is going to sleep more peacefully tonight. Me because he actually has some hype built up.

I like how they're started this by changing a game instead of only introducing one. Especially considering the first one, SAO, was a completely new game. Didn't do it in a terribly interesting way, but there's still that.

And sometimes Kirito's reactions when he's all awkward, but sometimes I laugh at things I don't think was intended either, and not in a good way... so this isn't good.

That was so slow and boring. Not much improvement from the first two parts. And damn, Kirito and Asuna as a couple always pisses me off, their relationship is really weirdly executed.

But the "new protagonists" deserve a shot, and if what people say is true and GGO is the best arc, then I'll continue watching to see if it gets any better.

Your sentence is based on the fallacy that their relationship was ever actually executed 8D

Oh yeah, this is a really minor complaint, but I was hoping to see Kirito trying to adapt to GGO and climb his way up in skills by using guns.

You know, like everyone else.

But now he gets a lightsaber so he'll be able to enter in ass-whooping from the get-go :/

Wait, seriously?

This is no minor complaint at all. This is another big flaw =/

Seems consistent.

The vibe I got from the first episode was more so that it was extremely pretentious. The only self awareness SAO has is how popular it is. Seriously, remember that first scene with the villain and how he super hypes up his pistol. The super basic looking pistol. Called Death Gun. Yes, the really dumb name for an unimpressive looking pistol. AND THEN FADE INTO THE TITLE SCREEN. YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. YOU'RE WATCHING SWORD ART ONLINE SEASON 2. QUE SAD SOUNDING MUSIC. THERE'S ASUNA. STILL PLAYING SAD SOUNDING MUSIC. WHAT'S ASUNA DOING? CHECKING HER PHONE. WHY? WELL PROBABLY BECAUSE SHE'S WAITING FOR KIRITO. WHY THIS MUSIC? SHUT UP, YOU'RE WATCHING SWORD ART ONLINE II. WE ESTABLISHED THAT ALREADY.

INTRODUCE MAIN ANTAGONIST.

Love scene.

FLASHBACK TO PART WHERE MAIN CHARACTER IS TOLD TO GET MAIN ANTAGONIST.

Same love scene.

NEXT TIME ON SAO. WILL MAIN CHARACTER GET MAIN ANTAGONIST? WAIT 24 MORE EPISODES TO FIND OUT.

Also, more love scenes... and probably death, but the love scenes are more important.
