Iphrem
Card A: Is a beautifully balanced, yet simplistic card that gives off an easy-going, calm vibe. The effect is perfect in my eyes and is, as said before, beautifully simplistic. Card B: Also a great card, beautifully complex in design with an effect that would make it capable of being staple material in most any deck. This card doesn't try to do too much as far as the effect goes and is above all, an outstanding card with an MST feel. Edge goes to Card B, who I believe followed the contest rules more to a T. Oh. my. word. Why? *rubs temples* Okay, Card A is absolutely terrible. First of all, Qliphoths are currently not well tailored for Xyz Summoning. They should be bringing out their tanks with Tribute Summons. But if by happenstance a Qliphoth player wanted to Xyz Summon for some reason, why oh why should he or she want to bring out this over, oh, I don't know, Rank 4 staples? Rank 6 staples? Anything but this poor, poor beater. There's, what, the good sense of bringing in the standard Qliphoth/Monarch stats but missing out on the playstyle benefits they bring? Adding a clause that seems to bring something to the archetype over the staples? Oh wait, there still is no great benefit in Xyz Summoning here. I just generally prefer Card B here. -Dom-
Card A: actually quite underpowered, with the negative effect of destroying itself just rendering it useless. While you do get a draw on the summon, this effect contradicts with the first, meaning that you have to use at least 3 to get any other effects. With 2, it is just a 2400 (again, under 2500 so not that strong) beater that has 1 attack and dies in your next end phase, or this one if your opponent does anything...just very weak, and not something qliphoths would play as far as I know. Card B: this is generally much better, in both fitting the contest requirement and having a better, more usable effect. While its not related to Evilswarms in any way (except for there already being a corrupted catastor in the form of golem), all of its effects are very nice, and make it worth running in any deck that makes rank 5s, even for the removal alone. Presumably quite obviously then, my vote also goes to Card B.
