Not every deck that plays Xyz are an Xyz deck. Just because you have the option of going into Xyzs at points, it doesn't mean that it''s the same as everything else. You're going to play Xyzs as options, ones which would often cost you the game if you didn't play them otherwise.

I never said it was necessary. I said there are situations where they might save your ass. And that not having them is just asking to lose game you had a shot at winning.

And besides, Ptolemy is hardly a bad Xyz to make if you can. You just recycle Qliphoths and remove threats with it.

It was a lifesaver against Exciton in one duel.

And it's been consistently useful when I have been in the situation to activate it.
