AMERICA'S FAVORITE NATIONAL PASTIME: HATING SOCCER

I don't understand why she complains so much, then again I've not been exposed to American TV for more than 2 months (visits to Florida).

I only dislike football because of how many times in the UK the players will have ago at the ref or play dirty. I prefer F1, but I wouldn't say I hate Football/Soccer.

I wouldn't pay much mind to this ignorant bitch honestly, it just seems like she's trying to use just about anything to validate her absolutely moronic claims.

And for what? Because perhaps we as Americans want to take pride in our country in a form that isn't watching the superbowl, an event in which we stuff our fucking faces with wings, spend 75% of it watching commercials and tweeting about which celebrity fucked up the national anthem.

"If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time."

The only thing that could make that quote even more unnecessarily racist is if she had just randomly linked an image to a swastika.

Oh and don't forget unnecessary sexism:

I really fucking despise some people.

I am just not one for sports in general, they don't have much appeal, imo. But, to say that soccer requires little to no athletic talent is quite insulting, I would say. However, even if I don't pay mind to how she belittles soccer players, her extreme racism, sexism and the offensive remarks just inflamed me. It is people like her, that Americans have to apologize for being American.

Like I said, she is the reason that Americans have to apologize for being American, not solely of course, but still.

The article made me laugh with incredulity at many points, I mean just wow. I am genuinely stunned that anyone can actually hold these kind of ridiculous views. Really hard to imagine how someone could be so narrow-minded and plain stupid.

Atleast soon the US will have an F1 team to support, if it does go ahead. (Unlike the previous attempt at a US team). I suppose in the UK they get alot of jip for the amount they're paid, when women football's have only just started earning enough to give up having 2 jobs.

She sure sounds like she's joking.  It might not be satire, but I have a hard time believing it's 100% serious.

Anyway, soccer is pretty much like watching grass dying with soccer players in the way.  But being completely serious, I hear people hate on American football WAY more than I hear people hate on association football.  Most Americans just don't give a shit about soccer.

From what I've heard she is completely serious. I mean look at the screenshot Yin has from her Twitter post, she'd be going a long way to carry through with a quite offensive joke.

Ever hear us american's talk about fox news? She's one of the analysts they bring on.

She also was a reporter for MSNBC twice before being fired for insulting a diplomat and tangling with a disabled army vet.

I'm not quite sure if there's actually anyone more intent on ignoring facts to move her own opinions.

She obviously has no clue about american football's roots in rugby football, and probably wouldn't accept it even if you told her. Rugby as a sport is like 100x more violent than american football, too, so I wonder why she hasn't been vocal about making it more popular in the US? She even starts talking about baseball and hockey... as if those sports are american and not foreign?

But yeah, that whole article just reeks of xenophobia, sexism, racism, classism and probably a whole lot of other -isms I'm just too young to understand.

Anyway, the only reason I don't pay much attention to soccer usually comes down to having to witness a grown man flop on the ground and act like he was stabbed in the gut after jumping in the air at another person and missing completely, and be awarded a free kick for it. Other than that, it's a really REALLY tense sport just because of how close every game is and how one mistake can turn the whole tide of the game.

rekt. But back to the topic at hand, I get freedom of speech, but people like this should really try using their right to remaining silent. As much as I love the internet, it's kind of become a place for people to post their horribly biased and sometimes even downright stupid opinions such as this article.
