New Extra Deck Type - Magi Monsters (Redone)

This is a new type of Extra Deck monster that I came up with about 5 months ago called 'Magi Monsters'.  In a nutshell, they basically work by Special Summoning them as part of a chain involving Spell Cards.  The rulings below explain the details:

1. All Magi Monsters are kept in the Extra Deck until they are summoned like Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz monsters.

2. All Magi Summons require a specific monster currently on your side of the field when the required Spell Cards are activated.

3. Magi Monsters summon themselves by activating themselves from the Extra Deck in response to the activation of Spell Card(s) from either player.  An example is listed in the spoiler tag below.

4. Since Magi Summons are always done in response to a Spell Card, traps such as "Bottomless Trap Hole" or "Torrential Tribute" cannot be activated as they would miss their timing.

5. Cards such as "Solemn Warning" or "Divine Wrath" can negate a Magi Summon because it's summon is treated as a monster's effect.  If that happens, they are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard (or Banished Zone due to "Macro Cosmos" or a similar card) without ever touching the field.

6. It does not matter if the Spell Card(s) have been negated.  They simply need to be activated and to be chained to in response.

7. They do not need to be chained immediately to a Spell Card.  If your opponent activates a card in response to a Spell Card that is a prerequisite for a Magi Summon, you can still activate the Magi Summon in response to your opponent's card.

8. The only exception to Rule #7 is Counter Trap Cards because Magi Summons are considered to be 'Spell Speed 2'.

9. The required monster on your side of the field is tributed as a cost of a Magi Summon.

10. Like other Extra Deck types, Magi Monsters must be properly summoned first before they can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard or Banished Zone.

Here is an example of a Magi Monster called "Caliginous Magician of Chaos".  The first thing worth pointing out that isn't immediately obvious is the '&' symbol between '"Dark Magician"' and '2 or more Spell Cards'.  This is meant to be a '&' and not a '+' because the Spell Cards are not treated as any kind of materials as a cost.

As you can see, this card requires 2 or more Spell Cards to be activated in a chain before this monster can activate its Magi Summon.  First, you must have "Dark Magician" (or a monster like "Elemental HERO Prisma" with its name changed) on your side of the field before this monster can be Magi Summoned.  Since both Spell Cards must be in the same chain, at least one of them must be a Quick-Play Spell Card for obvious reasons.

The second thing worth pointing out that isn't immediately obvious is the 'number of Spell Cards chained before its summon -1'.  This means that when its drawing effect activates, only the Spell Cards activated before the activation of "Caliginous Magician of Chaos" is counted when determining how many cards to draw.

Here is a scenario that would demonstrate how to Magi Summon this card:

1. Player A activates "The Grand Spellbook Tower" during their turn.

2. Player B activates a face-down "Mystical Space Typhoon" in response and targets "The Grand Spellbook Tower".

3. Player A activates "Caliginous Magician of Chaos" from the Extra Deck by revealing it to Player B and tributing "Dark Magician" from their side of the field.

4. Player B does not respond to this, so the chain resolves by Player A first Magi Summoning "Caliginous Magician of Chaos" in Attack Position, followed by Player B's "Mystical Space Typhoon", followed by Player A's now-useless "The Grand Spellbook Tower".

5. Since the first effect of "Caliginous Magician of Chaos" is mandatory, it activates after the chain fully resolves.  Two Spell Cards were activated before "Caliginous Magician of Chaos" was, so Player A draws 1 card.

"Breaker the Magical Warrior" & 1 or more Spell Cards
When a Quick-Play Spell Card resolves: Place 1 Spell Counter on this card. This card gains 300 ATK for each Spell Counter on it. Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card, then target 1 Spell/Trap card on the field; destroy that target.

More cards would be nice, also a remake of Breaker the typhoon warrior

Since Magi Monsters aren't actually an 'official type', it's not available as one of the monster backgrounds (Normal monsters are yellow, Effect monsters are orange, etc.).  After I make the card, I have to change its color pretty much by hand and then copy and paste the attribute and level symbols from the internet, shrink them down to their precise sizes and overlay the card.  Finally, I have to find the image and insert it into the blank white square in the middle.  I don't plan on making that many Magi Monsters since it's not an official type to begin with and takes much more time and patience to produce to my standards.

In a nutshell, I may redo Breaker, but other than that, this page was mostly designed to explain the concept of Magi Monsters and their rulings.  I just don't usually have that much time on my hands...  Sorry.

Breaker has been redone.  It's in the tab shown above.
