Draconus297
Hello everyone, and the Dragon Lord is back to RPing! "Well, for this site, it wouldn't necessarily be back . . ." Shut up, you! In any case, I'm launching MysticVerse sometime soon, after I've made some last-minute tweaks and accepted some good old-fashioned criticism from you guys! You probably have a question- "Drac, why are you launching this here?" That's a very good question, hypothetical person. You see, this is the only site I'm currently working on with a stable RPing setup, so . . . I couldn't do this somewhere else if I wanted to! Okay, now to the meat of what the RP will be about: I was inspired by looking at the six Attributes to create a world with a six-element system of magic. In addition, being the kind of guy I am, I added a vast variety of near-human races who also practice magic. Last but not least, I had the idea of mixing in the combined hostilities of politics and adolescence, to create what may be potentially one of the angstiest things to hit the face of the Internet- and that's saying something. Mix these ingredients thoroughly and you have MysticVerse, my latest project. Simply put, this world is mostly my own creation, and you may play in this sandbox for the low low price of an RP sheet and following a few basic rules. (these ones: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/196225-roleplay-forum-rules-both-ic-and-ooc/ plus these ones: 1. All IC posts require at least 4 lines of text, or roughly 100 words. 2. Posting in script format gets you gone. 3. No use of character expies without tailoring them to this RP.) Lore-time! When any child is born, human or not, the stars align above that child to grant them the potential to cast magic. If born in January or July, the child may freely access the powers of the Wind, but the Earth will not budge for them. In February or August, Fire will dance across their fingers, but Water will refuse their every command. In March or September, Darkness will be their greatest friend, but Light will never so much as lend an ear. In April or October, Earth will teach them ways of power, but Wind will scoff at attempts to be manipulated. In May or November, Water will flow, boil and freeze as you please, but Fire will burn easily as it does oak. In June or December, Light will end all their troubles, but Darkness will create true nightmares to fear. (Basically, one element will be easy-peasy for a kid to learn, the opposite will be literally impossible, and everything else will require effort.) There are several races, as wise as any human, but still made stupid by their relations with beast and forest. Dryads: Rulers of entire forests- as long as a single blade of grass grows in her territory (all Dryads are female), the Dryad is immortal. However, a Dryad may never leave her territory. Hamadryads: Spirits of individual plants, from the smallest rosebush to the mightiest tree. Hamadryads act as spies, messengers, and envoys for their mother Dryads, as they may go wherever they please. Should the Hamadryad die, their plant will shrivel and die. Should the plant die, the Hamadryad is soon to follow. Elves: In the time when Dryads trusted some humans, those humans occasionally signed contracts with the Dryads- trading their humanity for near-immortality and superhuman skills. Every Elf has the powerful eyesight afforded to the birds, the powerful strength of the mightiest animal in the Dryad's territory, the speed of her swiftest animal, and may not die until their Dryad decrees it or dies herself. Every Elf passes on their contract to any children they have- the babe of an Elf is born an Elf. Sybils: In the gap between life and death, a spring flows freely. Touching the water of that spring may turn one into a Sybil, the most bright of blessings and darkest of curses. First and foremost, they have access to visions of the future. A Sybil's skin is constantly without imperfection, and they heal rapidly from any injuries they sustain. Their beauty is always maintained- even the lowliest, lamest blacksmith would make a handsome Sybil. However, a Sybil's form has terrible, terrible cost. Every Sybil lives exactly 90 years- no more, no less. A Sybil's skin is black as the darkest charcoal, their hair as white as fresh snowfall. They lose any knowledge of Light magic they ever had. The worst of the curse, however, is that a Sybil may not help lying- it is a built-in instinct, and a Sybil always lies. Feli: In the intersection between humanity and felinity, we find the catlike Felus. The balance and reflexes of these creatures are impeccable, and they may occupy any form between close-to-human, with only their tail or ears remaining feline, or a savage-looking, bestially strong cat the size of a man. Unlike the Were-wolf, however, there is no known event which may rob a Felus of their mental faculties- however, they retain a cat's paranoia to noise and moody nature. An interesting fact about the Feli is that they each bond to exactly one person or animal near their birth (or, in the case of the isolated, at whatever time they come into contact with people)- the Felus then has an extreme codependency on that person or animal, growing depressed, agitated, or irritated should that person so much as leave the room. Were-wolf: While it is true that a Were-wolf becomes bestial on a moonlit night, this is only by appearance- a sane man is a sane Were-wolf, and all tales otherwise are vicious lies. In fact, a Were-wolf is still primarily human in their lupine or canine form, and their ability to converse with animals in that state has solved countless crimes. A Were-wolf's sanity is not hampered by the fullness of the moon, either; the fullness of the moon changes their raw physical strength, however, and it is not wise to fight a Were-wolf if there is a full moon in the sky. A Were-wolf only loses their mind under the effect of a lunar eclipse, wherein they have access to their full-moon-self's power, but not their human minds. Under a solar eclipse, however, the Were-wolf simply undergoes an unexpected transformation during the day. Gerudes: These small bird-people are not entirely of relevance, despite their abilities of flight and absurdly keen vision- they simply have not the mental capacity to be a threat to anyone, unless their plumage is the deep black of a crow or raven (or the multitude of colors of the parrot -Ed.). Dracenae: These reptilian mockeries of humanity are simply . . . wrong. They seem devoid of all empathy and compassion, and will quite often act suddenly, without much apparent forethought, until one realizes that whatever it is they've just done works out perfectly in their favor. I refuse to make further notes than that. (I sincerely apologize for the Species Professor on this one, as he has a virulent hatred of Dracenae. I'll list the singular- Dracena. -Ed.) Tsukomogari/Anima: While our neighbors to the East use a very odd name for these creatures, we will use Plato's name for the soul, as that is apparently all these creatures are. According to my Japanese contemporary, any object that has been in contact with humanity for more than 100 years will develop one of these Anima, and come to life. The Anima we see is not truly there- it is impossible to harm the human-looking body an Anima projects. Instead, the only true way to do harm to an Anima is to harm the object that lodges its soul- that object is an extremely sensitive focal point. According to my contemporary, so much as scratching one's nail too hard on their object of lodging is quite painful to these things. To kill an Anima, you need only destroy their object- which is easier said than done at times, as these things specialize in defensive and repair magic. Hunters: In fact, simply leave the Anima to these monsters. Hunters look like rather tall people, at first glance. All Hunters have at least one horn, and no more than 7 (Not necessarily true- if frontier reports are to be believed, a 12-horned Hunter is roaming southern France. -Ed.). These horns are a measure of a Hunter's physical strength- a one-horned Hunter is only as strong and resilient as a normal human being, and only lives about as long. A two-horned Hunter, by contrast, surpasses humanity in all physical manners by 4. A three-horned Hunter surpasses us by 9. It is not known if there is a pattern to this bizarre strength. (Drac: There is. Square the number of horns, and that's how much the Hunter outdoes a human equivalent by.) What is most frightening about Hunters, however, is that simply touching something magical allows them to negate all the magic it contains. In short, physical contact with a Hunter stops all magic. Well? What do you think? Whew! Now that that's out of the way, CHARACTER SHEET TIME! Name: Species (See above for list): Territory (only applicable for Dryads): Mother Dryad (applies to Elves and Hamadryads only): Home Country (applies to everyone else): Birthday (See above for why): Age: Gender: Appearance (post a pic, describe yourself, I don't really care which): Biography (IMPORTANT: At least 4 lines): Personality (ALSO at least 4 lines): Equipment (anything you may own- remember, this is just barely an alternate timeline of 1530 [as in modded so every country can participate]): Magic Knowledge: Notes (various quirks, et cetera):
Aix
Please read the rules and adjust this thread accordingly. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/196225-roleplay-forum-rules-both-ic-and-ooc/ You have 48 hours to do so.

Aix
You also need stuff like rules. Please read all of the rules.
Draconus297
The rules of the rule thread are linked. There is no way in any name I'm re-typing that wall of text, and copy-paste seems to not be working on Google Chrome right now. So, I made a link to the rules thread. Draconus297
Yes. The rules must be posted to be clearly visible in some form, and refusal to cooperate with those rules equals bad things will happen. Isn't blue text visible enough, or do I need to call more attention to it?

Draconus297
I fixed it, my cookie-eating-signature driver. Art thou satisfied?
StealthyTyranitar
Slapping on a reserve, though I must say, hunters seem very easily abused and overpowered.... And you should add some sort of plot to this, not just a layout for the universe in whic it takes place. And I believe that your Application(or as you call it, character sheet) is missing a few requirements. I believe it should look something like this: Name: Species (See above for list): Territory (only applicable for Dryads): Mother Dryad (applies to Elves and Hamadryads only): Home Country (applies to everyone else): Birthday (See above for why): Age:Gender Appearance (post a pic, describe yourself, I don't really care which):Biography: (IMPORTANT: At least 4 lines)Personality: (ALSO at least 4 lines) Equipment (anything you may own- remember, this is just barely an alternate timeline of 1530 [as in modded so every country can participate]): Magic Knowledge: Notes (personality, various quirks, et cetera): My apologies if the rules have changed, but I believe every app requires these things.... Draconus297
Oh, the Hunters have quite a few limits- for example, their highly spartan/ascetic society keeps them from having so much as a proper name- they're given a title when they're about 3 and that's about it. Also, while they can't be affected by magic directly, that basically amounts to "cannot be targeted"- as long as the magic isn't being directly done onto them, it still harms them. Thanks for fixing the app. In regards to the plot, that's in reserve for when I have a bit more time on my hands to type that sucker. It exists, don't worry. Can you help me out by drumming up PR in the meanwhile?
StealthyTyranitar
Sure, and if you'd like me to co-host, I'd love to.
Draconus297
That's be amazing, thank you. BASIC: Plot follows several young people (preferably young, in any case- universities of the time took anyone ages 14 to 35) responding to a call from a French nobleman who wants one of England's generals, the Anima of Excalibur itself, "taken care of". (Note- I didn't mention this earlier, but the more well-known the object, the more powerful its Anima's magic)
StealthyTyranitar
Okay. And here's another suggestion. For your title, you shpuld have Mythsong-OOC(NS/A/Co-Host Stealthy Tyranitar) NS- Not started A-Accepting It looks more professional
Draconus297
Sorry- I've been on about four other RPing sites, and none of them had such a . . . strict code. The first RP I ever joined was simply titled "Noblesse Oblige", there was an absolutely chaotic mess of IC and OOC, character apps didn't really follow any discernible pattern . . . but it was fun. An absolute pain to keep track of new characters, but fun. So, yeah, you could see why I'm not exactly used to ordered stuff.
StealthyTyranitar
Yep. Usually, it helps to RP a little before hosting, but whatever.
Draconus297
Pretty much everything is closed or in the middle of something right now, so I can't exactly join much. Could you perhaps write an app so I can start minor arc planning?

Okay, first things first- I asked "day", not "date". This RP takes place in 1530, so I could calculate birth year off of that. Secondly, really digging the artwork. Yes yes YES on that find. Third, there are a few errors regarding spelling and grammar- I really don't want to be that guy, but can you fix the errors please? Fourth (I think this should have gone first), welcome to the MysticVerse, and I'm glad to see you here.
