Dark Renewal

Normal Trap Card

When the opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s): Target 1 of those monsters and 1 Spellcaster-type monster you control; send them to the Graveyard, then, you can Special Summon a DARK Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck or Graveyard.

After all these years, this is finally a card.  Discuss.

Right, she triggers of "and if you do"s

Dark Renewal has both parts of its effects joined by a "then". The Special Summon takes place after the Spellcaster is sent to the Graveyard.

If Dark Renewal said "and if you do", both the sending to Graveyard and Special Summon happen at the same time, which won't trip up a timing miss.

So they limit it to Spellcasters only on your side of the Field but Summons From the Deck and Graveyard and not limited to Dark Magician ah?

IS COOL

It was never limited to Dark Magician ._.

Anyways, Shaddolls are happy af

I like that it can Special Summon from the Deck or the Graveyard. That makes it more usable early on in the game. Sadly, you need to use Spellcasters, but cards like Magician of Faith or Apprentice Magician will be useful for that. It also isn't being hard-coded to a "Dark Magician" monster, so you have a lot of flexibility.

I...I just...its just...from the grave as well?! From the deck obviously works better with the normal Spellcaster decks, but from grave makes this just an OP monster reborn for Shadolls: kill a monster, trigger a Shaddoll effect going to grave, and Special Summon a Midrash your opponent thought was gone. What?

The SS from deck is a buff you know? It only SS from the Graveyard in the anime.

*Actually looks at card*

Oh yeah, I remember, Arkana used it to bring his evil Dark Magician back when he faced Yugi in Battle City with those spinning blades moving towards them, which the dub said "sent you to the shadow realm", instead of just cutting your legs off. Still, I assumed that this card would be Dark Magician support only, so I was more reacting to the fact that it summoned any DRAK Spellcaster more than its synergy with Shaddolls; that's caused by the more generic summoned monster.

Still, its like they want Shaddolls to do well or something...
