E3 2014

Is it weird that Nintendo's E3 conference date is the anniversary of Xenoblade's JP release? Maybe Nintendo's telling us something there.

Well I mean, there was a leaked list of titles that included a Xenogear sequel, and there's no reason to disbelieve the list, to my knowledge.

Same leaked list was completely wrong on Sony and Microsoft's press conferences except for games we already knew about.

I have to say, I'm still gonna get a PS4 eventually to see Nathan Drake's sweet ass in full HD for the exclusive, but Sony has not been very graceful with their advertising.

They were winning at first, but IMO the gap between them and Microsoft's is getting closer by the day, and they're still taking cheap shots.  Microsoft has been fairly passive, wishing Nintendo and Sony well during their conference.

But whatever, neither conference blew my mind, I'd say Microsoft's was a bit better.

Let's see what Nintendo does, I hope they have at least one completely unannounced game.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony's conference were really better than each other. Each showed a variety of trailers that weren't even showing gameplay, and left their biggest franchises as teasers. They both has smaller & artsy indie games to show off, with each getting one of the possibly two best looking games at the show in Inside and No Man's Sky.

They each spent large amounts of time on third parties which will be appearing on both platforms and explaining how they were better because they have timed exclusives or exclusive dlc.

Both felt fast-paced as they tried to cram as many games in as possible, with Sony being a little more leisurely because they had 2 hours and, let's face it, that's just Sony's mojo. In that sense, their press conference felt exactly like a Sony press conference and Microsoft's felt exactly like how a Microsoft conference focused solely on games would look.

To say that either was better than the other comes down to your opinions on the two companies or the systems their trying to sell, because objectively... their press conferences were basically the same.

However, you CAN say that they were both better than the EA and Ubisoft ones because Ubisoft spent a bit too much time on Kinect-enabled games and Just Dance 100, and EA just, like... nothing besides Battlefront early-stages-of-development-trailer, Mirror's Edge early-stages-of-development-trailer, and Battlefield Hardline, really... (they ever fix their last Battlefield game?)

Zelda gone Skyrim with laser-shooting lances/spears/javelins/whateverthatwas?

A really lush-looking Yoshi game?

Kirby done in the cool-looking art style that is claymation?

ORAS in November?

An interesting and very innovative new game in the form of Splatoon?

Reggie firing the Star Fox fan Robot Chicken Style?

THAT FREAKING SMASH SEGMENT?

Miyamoto teasing Star Fox U at the very end?

Nintendo fanboy I may be, this absolutely kicked ass for me.
