Quiz Me on Pokemon!

Swagger + Thunder Wave. We all hate being subject to it. Having 2 stacking ailments that grant a chance of you not having your move executed is insulting and would force you into swapping out just to wean off the confusion. It's even more annoying that Klefki has access to them and priorities them with Prankster, before hiding behind priority Subs and whipping your ass with high-power Foul Plays.

However, there is one obscure Pokemon that has the perfect combination of typing and ability to negate the entire combination of Swagger + Thunder Wave. Who's that Pokemon?

Hint - it's not fully evolved.

@British Soul - huh? ...underleveled mienshao? ...its like you're tempting me to cheat. ;-; is this seriously even remotely common as pokemon trivia? X.x ...aka, idk DX

The correct answer is Lysandre when you battle him inside the Flare HQ. His Mienshao is level 48, then 49, and Mienfoo doesn't evolve until level 50.

New question: In DP, what is the name of the trainer who you team up with in Victory Road (post-Nat Dex)?

@ gadjitron - itd either be an electric pokemon with own tempo or rotom since it cannot be affected by normal or electric moves. I might be missing somethin though.
@kirito - illegal in what way?
@ british - ....ah...regretting not replaying dp like I planned. Riley?

The answer is the Orbs for the Sinnoh Legendaries. Plus a Big Nugget (Hidden).

Under leveled evolved Pokemon are common, LGFR's cycle route was full of them. Weezing Lv 33 (2 trainers), Rapidash Lv 29. Also remember Route 11 having a Lv 17 Magneton.

Illegal I'm guess as should not be learnable by said Pokemon, but somehow they are on those Pokemon.

Q) In Pokemon XD what is the 99th Trainer on Mt Battle (Main Game)'s strategy?

Sometimes, the typing of certain status moves are irrelevant. Every Ghost is still susceptible to Swagger, for example.

The answer was a Numel with Own Tempo. Remember that Thunder Wave can't hit Ground-types.

Next question:

What is the "SABER" strategy, and how does it work?

Never played XD, watched or played anything involving ranger. Also....SABER strategy....never heard of it. I've spent hours watching jwittz videos and playing pokemon....both in games and showdown and it seems I've barely scratched the surface...x.x its truly cool

SABER stands for:

  • Sturdy
  • Aron
  • Shell Bell
  • Endeavor
  • Recovery

The idea was to have a LV1 Aron in a sandstorm. Barring priority, Aron would always be hit first, reducing its HP to 1 due to its Sturdy. It then uses Endeavor to cut the opponent's HP to 1, and the Shell Bell would restore all its HP, resetting its Sturdy. Meanwhile, sandstorm damage will chip off the opponent's remaining 1 HP and kill it, allowing a LV1 Pokemon to sweep unprepared teams.

It's similar to the FEAR (Focus Sash, Endeavor, Quick Attack, Rattata) strategy but it can trigger multiple times. It's not foolproof, though - there are ways to beat it (first being multi-hitting attacks).

I know of FEAR. And actually I have experienced SABER, and know how it functions (especially by making your opponent think you have a SERIOUS team by starting with tyranitar or hippowdon. I just didnt know it was known as SABER XDD

In Gen 1 and without an external hacking device, what evolves into Nidoking?

The first season of the entire series and the first (idk if it's the only) season of Black and White. Also, the White movie and the Black movie.

As in illegal moveset. I apologize for not providing said criteria. Anyways, the answer is that his Dragonite knows Barrier, which he can't learn, and his Aerodactyl knows Rock Slide, which it couldn't learn prior to Gen II.

Trainer 99 runs Explosion/Protect. With her Sixth being Shedinja.

Q) What type rule does the Pokemon manga ignore during Blue breaking free of Agatha's hypnosis?

And here is where my procrastination on reading the manga comes into place

Didnt scyther use slash on the gengar? That's kinda rulebreaking.

@Kirito-san - Would it not be Magnezone, with its 12 resistances and 1 immunity?

Thats pretty darn good.
