.Rai
Here's a game and a half. From the creators of Bastion, and their sophomore effort. I thoroughly reccomend the game: awesome electronic jazz soundtrack, and cool Sci-fi + Art Deco visuals. Already got tons of 8+ reviews. The biggest selling point of the game is the thoroughly unique combat system. It's better seen than explained, and better played than seen, but it's a planning turn-based system grafted together with real-time hack 'n' slash. Shradow
I've been waiting for this game for so long, pretty much since it was announced! However, I've recently had some large expenses (darn anime convention) and plan to have more (darn MK8), so if I bought this now I'd feel really guilty. I've waited this long, I can wait more. Agro
The reviews I've been seeing praise the artiness of the title over its actual mechanics.
Shradow
I've only seen videos covering it, but people say the mechanics are very well done. The art being great goes without saying, after they made Bastion.
.Rai
I think the guy who summed up the mechanics best was TotalBiscuit's coverage of the game. There's been some dislike over the mechanics, but probably undeserved. Partially since you can play it mostly as a hack 'n' slash game without the planning elements, if you want. Although, yeah, I think it's more of an arty game, but it's a pretty mechanically creative one at that.
Agro
I've seen the exact opposite about trying to play it as a hack n' slash.
.Rai
I've heard it too. Obviously, the combat mechanics are meant to be played in tandem, but there's not anything inherently faulted about playing it as a hack 'n' slash. Certainly a bit more frantic, as enemies are balanced for planning, but nothing major. Most complaints I've seen are for lack of replayability, and unintuitive UI. Which are fair comments.
