The Flash

I really love Arrow, so am much hype for this. Such wow.  CGI is a bit silly at points though.

One thing that bothers me though, if we can have him actually called The Flash and run faster than physically possible, why can't we have Oliver be called Green Arrow?  Arrow avoids comic booky things far too often, I hope that changes in season 3.

My understanding is that The Flash is supposed to embrace the superhero aspects more than Arrow does right now.

Green Arrow is like Batman except he kills people and doesn't give a s*** about petty crimes.

Wasn't that a whole thing with S2 that he was trying to fix that? Granted, I haven't even gotten to the episodes where Barry Allen shows up, so maybe that changes.

Nah...the show is making GA like a batman with a bow, in the comic however he's a rich kid with a robin hood complex after being stranded on the island. Everything else on the show is spot on though.

Like how opposite The Flash show is to Arrow.

Eh… some of the characters they've had are barely recognizable. Mia Dearden became Thea Queen, and Sin is supposed to be a little Asian girl.

What DC heroes do they have rights to? Cos everyone likes Arrow, and if this is just as good, they could expand further to encourage multiple shows to be watched. Instead of trying to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they could make a DC tv universe! Alwys thought Batman's multiple cases would work better on TV anyway, so...

They did kinda have a "DC tv universe" with Smallville, even having a comic book where it can expand and introduce the other characters they couldn't put on TV like Batman and Wonderwoman. If you want to see how many they had, you can search up Smallville characters to get a list but the contracts for some of those characters possibly expired.

There were plans for a Wonder Woman TV show called "Amazon", but that project got canned. Then again, if they ever did give her a TV show now, I'd trust that over whatever they'd do with her in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Not sure if they'd have a Batman show at this point, but really, I don't think they should either way. One of DC's biggest problems, both in terms of comics and all their other media, is that they constantly rely on Batman. The CW has gotten flack from Arrow for the show being afraid of it being a comic book show, just as David Goyer has been criticized for being afraid that he's working on superhero stories. Meanwhile, you got Cartoon Network, who have made it quite apparent that they just don't like comic-based cartoons for whatever reason.

Warner Bros. owns DC and has a 50% stake in the CW. DC is also publishing a comic continuation of Smallville, so it should be impossible for the licensing contracts for the characters to have expired.

What are the chances that they strike gold twice by turning either of the new 52 writers of the flash into a character and became the best character on the show...

I'd love that, but I feel that the role Diggle plays in Arrow is being fulfilled by Cisco here.

The writers have stated that they've got a hard-on for a Nightwing cameo, but licensing won't allow it.

I call bullshit. Unless the Bat Embargo is somehow still a thing.

Batman vs Superman is a thing.   CW can only use what Warner Bros. allows.  They can't show Batman (and probably most related characters) because it conflicts with the films.

Didn't this happened to Smallville and the Batman cartoon as well where they can't use Harvey Dent. Not a fan of either of those show though.

I don't know about Batman, but I know Smallville had difficulties.

Yeah, this I know. Kinda sucks knowing Goyer said that the tv and movie verse are separated things considering there's the Justice League Dark movie WB like to talk about which features and Constantine is headlining his own show this fall.

The Batman wasn't allowed to use Scarecrow, and the reason Robin showed up after Batgirl was because they thought that the existence of the Teen Titans cartoon would confuse people.

Ra's as well if I'm not mistaken. The second one is pretty dumb and DC is doing that as well when they canceled Hellblazer.

They'd need to really put the money into it. Television is still widely considered to be culturally inferior to film. They'll need House of Cards level writing and production value with film-level CGI to really be taken seriously in comparison to the Marvel films.

It's also likely that the films make more money.

You saw what he said about She-Hulk? I think we can all just accept that Goyer is an idiot.

I think Guillermo del Toro's movie has been in the works long before the Constantine show was planned, and before the New 52 was even announced, so it predates Justice League Dark. I think people just call it "the Justice League Dark" movie by association, when last I checked, it was called Heaven Sent.

The best explanation I've heard for that is that DC wouldn't want any of their Vertigo books outselling the New 52, which is why they gave Constantine his own New 52 solo book.

Say what you will about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that, Agent Carter, and the four upcoming Netflix series building up to Defenders all show that Marvel is not afraid of using television and Netflix to expand their movie universe. Marvel is constantly kicking DC's ass at everything right, though the animation department is a mixed bag for both.

My point was only that trying to take over TV in comparison to Marvel doing film isn't a good idea.
