Chiri Tsukikawa
Dude, there are a lot of anime with top quality animation that only have around 12 episodes. I wouldn't say 26 episodes is a waste of that kind of animation.
Astro Dude
But when it started, the series was more than 200 episodes long. If the animation is this good the new series should have the same amount. In other Sailor Moon News: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-06-05/sailor-moon-english-zoisite-voice-actress-kirsten-bishop-passes-away/.75224 Sigh. It may be me complaining again but I hope Kate Higgins gets the role of Zoisite. Sounds butch enough. Well, can't put it off any longer. First the original Ami episode in subs. Then when the dub comes out I'll compare the two. Well the sub is different from the dub. For one thing, no transitions. Differences between sub and old dub: No transitions The scene with the test scores is not present Molly bashing in Melvin's head is out Serena's mom whipping her for failing a test (Akiza's dad slapping her anyone?) A little devil Usagi The Arcade scene was rearranged No duplicate scene end or begin The Darien scene The disc duplicate Nursing School student vs. School Superintendent. erased lines. Swearing, obviously The end transition. "Next time, on Sailor Moon..." Other than that, looks about the same. They just changed up the dialogue a lot. Wonder if they'll keep all this for the new dub. Speaking of the new dub, I'm worried that all those who uploaded the old dub of Sailor Moon will be kicked off for copyright violation. After all, no video site I know has the 4kids version of One Piece anymore so what'll happen to the old dub. We maynever see it on Youtube or anywhere else again. Astro Dude
Bump: Ever heard of the trope "Barbie Doll Anatomy"? Viz will throw that right out the window. Not that it should be a bad thing, it's just... Oh and this has to be brought up: Lita/Makoto + Brock from Pokemon or Bonnie (Proposes for Clemont). I wish someone would reply. Astro Dude
bump: Okay, I guess I can see why the true second episode was cut out of the dub lineup. The guys who had their fortunes told would probably make Duncan from Total Drama proud. Plus, there was so much stuff that it had to be cut altogether. Okay, Why don't we predict who will be the new (new) voices of the cast? Okay, Usagi... I'm thinking... Laura Bailey. Either her or Stephanie Sheh. Mamoru (Still prefer Darien cause it sounds cooler) By either Johnny Yong Bosch or Yuri Lowenthal. Ami will probably sound like Julie Ann Taylor cause she can sound smart. Rei... Going with Michelle Ruff this time. Kinda sounds right. Listen to her as Nisa. Makoto (Still like Lita) Wendee Lee. Certified, bad*** Minako... Kira Buckland. Nuff said. Bertie will be voiced by Megan Hollingshead. Chibiusa will be voiced by Xanthe Hyunh Guys at Viz, If you're reading this, make these va predictions come true. Astro Dude
bump: Armadilloz: So, what old Sailor Moon episodes have you been watching? Excellent question. Well, apparently I was watching another episode that didn't air in America. It was one where Sammy/Shingo gets a pet thingy. And remember Dangerous Dollies? British Soul: Wasn't that the episode where Nephlite made a girl named Mika mean via a doll? Yup, well the pet thingy episode was her debut episode. Flame Dragon: Cool. Yup, and now I'm watching another episode that didn't make the journey to the west. It involves a musician being stalked by a monster. Sleepy the Furret: Great. Let us know how that turns out. Astro Dude
I have to ask what you are replying to exactly since this is my first post in this thread according to what I've seen and only really check occasionally to see if there's something new. Sorry for imitating you. It's just no one has replied to this thread since my last post. I was recently watching old Sailor Moon and saw a few episodes that never crossed the ocean. The first the fortune-teller episode was due to delinquent behavior (Skirt flipping, window breaking, etc.) The second, the furry thing episode, was probably due to the fact that Usagi slapped Shingo. The one I recently watched, the musician episode, was not aired due to Usagi being in a bar. This thread isn't just for new Sailor Moon, it's for all Sailor Moon. We could discuss favorite episodes, favorite characters, moments that made us laugh or cry. And apparently there are not many Sailor Moon fans here. I just wish fans of the series would be here. Since it's going to be redubbed by Viz we should prepare ourselves. And, one of the old dub voice actresses died recently. You'd think people would care. You'd think the other va's would be at her funeral or something. But I'm justating myself here. Like I said before, I'm sorry for imitating you, I just didn't want this thread to die before the new series airs. That was all.
J-Max
But Astro, you were replying to a ton of people when they haven't even said anything in this thread o_o. You must be seeing too many Girls in Pigtails or something lol. But to keep on Topic.... Liking the new Animation style and Serena is especially nicer looking now she is based on her Manga Counterpart.
Sleepy
To be honest, and it might kinda sound like blasphemy, but I just can't get used to the new face of Sailor Moon. I'm so used to her face in the old cartoon and if it is to have the same personality, I can't imagine the new more serious-looking face doing those things. Then again, the face template for the old cartoon was re-used a lot, with varying eye color and hair styles but other than that, yeah. And I do acknowledge it's not supposed to be like the original cartoon, and that it IS quite well made regardless of this complain. There's also that even though I did watch it when I was young, we are talking 3 or 4 years old young. I have memory of watching it but not of what I watched specifically, if you know what I mean, and I've re-watched a couple episodes nowadays (2 or 3 tops), and overall know that whatever the manga story is, it is different than the anime. Other than that I am not really what you'd call a fan of the show due to this: I don't remember it well. That said, I'm curious about the new anime so I'll be following it regardless, but as I said before (in other thread), I'm not active here because the anime hasn't even started, so unless there's new trailers or conference info, I really have no reason to post here YET. Relax, current inactivity does not mean that by the time it starts airing people will make some new thread or anything. I'm pretty sure this is still gonna be on the first page, and if you are worried that it's gonna be long enough to be considered necro-bumping, that means you made the thread too early, and that's that. Aaaaand I close this post by saying I'm not really interested in the VA aspect of it all that much, so even if there's news, if it's just about that, I'll just watch silently since not only am I not familiar with the VAs due to being to small at the time it aired, but I also grew up with the Mexican dub so no way in hell I can identify here. Astro Dude
Okay then, just wanted to get it out of the way, and who knows. It's 26 episodes and even if the faces change there will still be some hilarious faces that might break from the norm. Not as much as the old anime but still. And to be honest it's not that blasphemous. It somewhat looks the same, it's just the haircolor is brighter than it was. Still gotta wonder if this is a remake of the original which of the 44 episodes they'll use and remake, what will Beryl and the forces of the Dark Moon Kingdom will look like, like Jadeite or the Seven Youma. Those kind of things. We've yet to even see the new version of Tuxedo Mask. And who knows, maybe they'll be a Crystal Guardians R in which Al and An will adapt to the new style. And the denizens of Nemesis. I kinda wanna see Bertie with either sky blue or navy lipstick. S can see the return of Uranus and Neptune and Super S, if they wanna make Fish-Eye more effeminate have him wear lipgloss. Shine to the lips works. And I sometimes watch a few of my favorite old episodes too, but I can't wait to see how they dub "Protect the Melody of Love: Usagi Plays Cupid". And thanks Kawai, and with the exception of the girl on the far right of my signature and Sailor Moon herself, no I have not seen any girls in pigtails. This hairstyle is actually notable for Tsundere girls since it makes them look as childish as they sometimes act. Try looking at Season 4 episode 3: Serena: "YOU DON'T LOVE ME ANYMORE!" Usually Serena's mom kicks her out of the house for either bad grades or temper tantrums but in that episode Serena kicked herself out. And ever see the episode "Too Many Girlfriends"? Serena: "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" That's what Lita said. Kinda wonder if in this new anime the Scouts will meet the same way as before: Ami at her school after she transfered Rei at the temple she lives Makoto when she saves her from thugs Minako when they're saved from Kunzite's energy trap. Astro Dude
bump: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-06-30/sailor-moon-crystal-cast-adds-misa-watanabe-daisuke-kishio-kousuke-toriumi-more/.76135 More cast. Beryl's in it and the bad guys from season 1 are in it, along with Serena's mom, Sammy, her brother, Molly, Melvin, Miss Haruna, Andrew, and even a pair of extras named Yumiko and Kuri. Seriously it's probably gonna be a condensed version of season 1 of the original only with better animation. You know, like how DBZ Kai was a retelling of DBZ only with lots of episodes cut out. And before anyone asks, yes I checked and matched japanese names with the names from back in the day. Scary thought came to me... Serena's mom kicking her out of the house for failing a test. What if that was implied here? It would also be kinda funny if she threw Serena a camping set. Plus, why is Darien wearing glasses? Edit: New Sailor Moon episode 1 is this weekend. Nicο
As my first real experience of Sailor Moon, what I can say is... I don't like her voice. I think it only works as a cat's voice, itself, and that Hummy was one of the best parts of Suite Precure. The VA herself, can do other voices I would have probably preferred (probably don't fit, though)... but another thing is that I am surprised by just how clumsy she really is. This is going to be something... alright. As far as I know, I'm actually fine with every other voice.

Sleepy
Two things bothered me: -Her transformation was a little bit too heavy on CG. With how good everything else looks one would expect they'd actually invest more in the one scene they might be repeating tons of times throughout the series. -I find it a tad forced that her mom wanted her to look up to Sailor V specifically, when Sailor Moon was the one person in town who had no idea of who Sailor V is. I would have preferred to either have Usagi already know and admire her from the get go to make that scene work, or just not have that scene with the mom saying it so they could freely highlight more of Usagi's non-attentive personality. Other than that, I overall liked this. They even gave an excuse as to why the band-aids were there in the first place. They made Tuxedo Mask have more sense by sitting back to analyze what was going on instead of just throwing a rose to save her and talk as if he already knew everything. Plus, there was a little bit more action than I expected to see, although the amount of action in the opening might be a tad misleading if it gets to be like the old anime. Phantom Roxas
Except the original show also established where the bandages came from, unless that wasn't in the manga. If anything, the problem was that they skipped over showing the kids that had put the bandage on Luna.

Like, really good. I know I usually just say this anyway, (I don't mind most of the CG I see), but at the end of it, I actually thought it looked really similar to the rest of the art this time, unlike those other times (except the ones where it's all CG, can't really compare them). Probably giving it too much credit, but this is one were I almost didn't notice, tbh. And if it's only going to be in the *reviews transformation scene* Okay. I can tell how much it looks different, but it didn't look different enough to clash and I quite liked it. The other thing is, besides the opening, I saw 0 action, lol. I can't really count the crying sound waves, personally.

If anything, the problem was that they skipped over showing the kids that had put the bandage on Luna. I suppose I'm just recalling the wrong dub in my head then. At least from what I remember watching in my country, it had never been particularly clear to me. Or maybe it was just me disregarding something that sounded way too trivial for a mystical being in search for a legendary guardian to fall into (and I was like 4 years old so it could have easily been that case). It looked good though, imo. Like, really good. Still, at least it was just the transformation so all in all the episode's animation as a whole is still good to me. I guess you are right in how it's not really action, but compared to how I remember the old version of this episode, it was a bit more dialog and a random rose throwing from Tuxedo mask without Serena actually doing anything but sit on the floor, plus a long sequence of the moon tiara to eat some more time off the episode. Of course my memory is not the best out there but, was that sonic scream in the old version? I don't recall it and am not really sure.

Astro Dude
Plus the new dub cast is awesome. I was kinda hoping JYB would be Melvin but BAM! Artemis. Yet some seem out of place and yet some work. Tara Platt, Vert from Neptunia, is mature, but for her to yell "GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE!" Won't be my favorite scene but I'd like to see her take on it. Liam, Mr. Captain of Squad 13, I can at least see him pulling off Nephlite's death scene. Will Kate use a British accent for Ami? Plus, I can see either Xanthe Hyunh or Melissa Fahn as Chibiusa. And that leaves everyone else. I'd kinda like to see what the characters from R, S and Super S would be like in the new animation style. Sailor Stars too. Don't get me wrong I like the old dub I just wanna see how say Ami's intro episode would be done with Kate as Ami. Plus, I think Yuri Lowenthall would be a good Allan/Rubeus/Sapphire. Megan Hollingshead, Bertie. Kira Buckland, ParaPara. This will also have a worry of mine... With this new dub will anime sites like animeplus or watchcartoononline or justdubs replace the old dub with the new one? And Lucien Dodge as Zoicite? I bet Kirsten Bishop is rolling in her grave right now. Now let's play an elimination game. This new series is 26 episodes long. The original first season was 45 episodes long. Only things with Continuity like the love story between Molly and Nephlite and the Rainbow Crystal saga will be seen. That's 15 episodes long. Not to mention Sailor Mercury and Mars intros will be there, counting deaths That's 21 episodes. So which of the remaining ones will be the new 5? Phantom Roxas
Having Johnny Yong Bosch voice Umino would be a waste, and I could see Ben Diskin doing a good job with the character, and really, how could you say that some voice actors seem "out of place" when all you really seem to know them from is Hyperdimension Neptunia? There is no reason for Kate Higgins to use a British accent for Ami, and I think her voice will be fine without needing one.

There is no reason for Kate Higgins to use a British accent for Ami, and I think her voice will be fine without needing one. Not just Hyperdimension Neptunia but Mugen Souls as well. I mean Cristina as Rei? I guess they'd have to split the difference between Compa and Supra Compa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2mjcE_GGWQ Supra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdVJTwHwhco Almost like Shantae. And I thought Kate would replicate a British accent for Ami since she had one in the original but that's me. I mean most characters she portrays are snarky or sarcastic but never polite. Amanda C. Miller. I only know her as MAGES.. To have her as the rowdy Lita/Makoto is a bit out of character. I guess having Cherami Leigh as Mina(ko) would be hilarious especially with all the hilariousness she goes through. One thing that worries me is Cindy Robinson as Queen Beryl. I hope she doesn't butcher that role like Amy Rose. And I did foresee Stephanie as Usagi at one post. Who'd guess I was right. But what about minor characters like the holders of the seven rainbow crystals or the monsters of the Dark Kingdom. Will va's like Laura Bailey or Wendee Lee voice them? Wait... only two of the rc holders were female. I'd see Wendee as Pegi Jones and Laura as Rita Blake. I kinda hope Sheh sticks with ALL 200 episodes. For the Amazon Quartet I see Wendee Lee as Junjun, Laura Bailey as Celecele, Xanthe Hyunh as Parapara and Kate Higgins as Vesuvesu.
Phantom Roxas
You know who else Cristina Vee voiced? Homura.Amanda C. Miller voiced Cherche and Sully in Fire Emblem Awakening, and Sully is pretty "rowdy".Cindy Robinson voiced Aversa in Fire Emblem Awakening, and that character is perfect for getting an idea of how she'll voice Beryl.Weren't you advocating for Stephanie Sheh as Ami? I had to point out that everyone was expecting her to be Usagi, so you pretty expected the same thing as everyone else. You want to know who would guess you were right? Everyone. It was that obvious. There's really no reason to doubt that Stephanie Sheh is going to be voicing Usagi for all 200 episodes. This is one big project they're undertaking, after all.Seriously, go play Fire Emblem Awakening. If nothing else, it will help you expand your knowledge of ranges for certain voice actresses.
