Popular Thread?

Dracoswag

Question

So I may be only new here, and I did post a custom set, but I have always wondered: How long does it take for a thread/post/custom set to become popular or 'noticed' exactly? (Do not get me wrong, I am not asking this to ship my custom set, I am just curious). Do you have to be a member for a extensive amount of time? Is it just preference/tastes? How it looks? Get more well known? I ask because I would like some 'pointers' as to making my Threads appear a little more out there. Am I allowed to bump my own threads? I thought I did a swell job on my set, but that is open to opinion, and I need feedback on any errors/mistakes or suggestions and what not in order to know how I am doing lol. It is a little disheartening to see that no one replies to your stuff (Again, not trying to ship anything I post just asking this blatantly) .

~Thanks in advance

Posting up a large number of cards at once tends to overwhelm potential reviewers. Unless they have sufficient patience to slowly review every card you've made, this means you'd be getting reviews from those who skimmed through your set.

Instead, trickle them in forms of installments. Release cards in small groups - especially if they are designed to interact with each other. Don't go posting up a new thread for each group you post up, though. Just editing the front post of your topic is sufficient, along with a bump.

I'd have to agree. The best thing you can do is be unique in the card design, perhaps advertise in the status bar. Creative names and titles may nab an eye. Avoid walls of text, and if you begin to have too many cards begin to use spoilers, but you should only ever exceed about 10 if you're creating the archetype for fun with little intentions for others interaction, as the most you'll get is a skim and them stating they like it.

Funny thing is, I did most of what you said to be honest, and I am in no rush to get reviews/responses, but it would be nice to know that people are interested in my concept (gives me a reason to make the cards in the first place lol). I edited the post and made it substantially shorter and have 10 cards total. I sectioned of the cards and placed them is spoilers as well to make them look more organised, and to avoid walls of text, I put the Lore as their effects in spoilers as well (just in case they were difficult to see/read)

It sincerely does depend on the reader.

First of all, you're right in regarding time and being well known. A more dedicated member who's been active will likely get more feedback on threads they create, purely because of reputation. Reputation has, and always will be important on a forum.

Preferences and tastes, too, do come into things, but it depends on the size of the content - smaller, easier, better broken down things appear more easy to reply too. Walls of text/overwhelming information can scare people off.

You are allowed to bump your own threads, once per 24 hours. However, too many bumps may give off a vibe of desperation - three at the most, I'd recommend.

Has this helped?
