New "Nordic" cards.

I've been thinking about how there have been several new cards that advance older archetypes, some to the point of being great for competition. But I've known one deck that many duelists have been trying to make competitive for years, the "Nordic" cards.

They have an excellent fanbase, but they need a lot of work. Many decks have been designed using only 1 or 2 of the fabled "Aesir" monsters, and how many are just getting by with the "Nordic" cards themselves?

So for awhile now, I've been working to design further support for this archetype. All based on Norse mythology, and all have been structured accordingly to current formats. I plan to submit these card designs as well as a petition to the Konami corporation, but I need a bit more support to begin. So here are my current card text drafts for said possible support. Please look over them and provide any feedback you want. This may be an effort in vain, but I believe this archetype is worth the chance.

 

Fafnir of the Nordic Dragons 

Earth

Level:6

Dragon/Tuner

Atk/Def: 0/2200

 

You can send this face-up card to the Graveyard to return up to 2 "Nordic" Tuner monsters that have been banished to your Graveyard. Then Special Summon 1 "Aesir" or "Vanir" Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck whose level equals the total levels of this card and the returned monsters. The effect(s) of that Synchro Monster is negated.

 

Linnormr of the Nordic Dragons 

Wind

Dragon/Effect

Atk/Def: 1900/0

 

When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned, you can shuffle 1 "Nordic" card from your hand into your deck; add 1 "Nordic" monster from your deck to your hand. Once per turn, you can declare a Level from 1 to 6; this card becomes that Level until the End Phase. This card cannot be used as a Xyz or Synchro Material, except for the summon of an "Aesir" or "Vanir" monster.

 

Audumbla of the Nordic Beasts 

Earth

Level:2

Beast/Tuner

Atk/Def: 1300/1700

 

If you use this card you control for a Synchro Summon of an "Aesir" or "Vanir" monster, you can treat it as a non-Tuner monster. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can send 1 "Nordic" monster from your hand to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "Nordic" monster from your deck with a level equal to the sent monster's. You can only use this effect of "Audumbla of the Nordic Beasts" once per turn.

 

Njord, Father of the Vanir (For those that don't know, the Vanir are fortune/fertility Gods in Norse myth.)

Water

Level:8

Aqua/Synchro

Atk/Def: 2000/2500

 

1 "Nordic" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

 

If this card or an "Aesir" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect), you can send 1 "Nordic" monster from your deck to the Graveyard; prevent 1 of those monsters from being destroyed. You can only use this effect of "Njord, Father of the Vanir" once per turn.

 

Freyr, Lord of the Vanir 

Earth

Level:8

Warrior/Synchro

Atk/Def: 2300/1800

 

1 "Nordic" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

 

This card cannot be destroyed by battle. Once per turn, you can activate one of these effects. *Discard 1 "Nordic" monster, add 1 "Nordic Relic" spell/trap from your deck to your hand. *Discard 1 "Nordic Relic" spell/trap, add 1 "Nordic" monster from your deck to your hand. If a face-up "Aesir" monster you control would be destroyed in battle, you can destroy this card instead.

 

Freyja, Lady of the Vanir 

Light

Level:8

Fairy/Synchro

Atk/Def: 1500/3200

 

1 "Nordic" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

 

This card cannot be destroyed by card effects. Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Nordic" monster from your hand or Graveyard. You can tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Aesir" monster from your Graveyard. Also, you can return up to 3 "Nordic" Tuner monsters that have been banished to your Graveyard.
