Poc
This has been my pet deck for modern for a while. When I'm not try-harding at modern events I like to play it since its really quite fun. Its a cheap tron deck that is quite effective against most of the modern metagame. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mono-black-controlatron/ Sorcery (23) 1x Black Sun's Zenith 4x Duress 2x Exsanguinate 3x Increasing Ambition 3x Killing Wave 4x Profane Command 4x Read the Bones 2x Sign in Blood Artifact (4) 4x Expedition Map Land (22) 10x Swamp 4x Urza's Mine 4x Urza's Power Plant 4x Urza's Tower Creature (6) 2x Hythonia the Cruel 4x Solemn Simulacrum Instant (3) 3x Go for the Throat Enchantment (2) 2x Underworld Connections Sideboard (15) 3x Dismember 2x Drown in Sorrow 1x Grafdigger's Cage 1x Increasing Ambition 2x Pithing Needle 2x Relic of Progenitus 3x Surgical Extraction 1x Torpor Orb Without the sideboard it should only cost ~50$ to put together, if you have some tron staples like wurmcoils and karn or some thoughseizes i'd reccomend throwing them in here as they make this deck much, much stronger. Rodrigo
I'd rather play Mono Black Devotion than Mono Black Tron, but this is actually an interesting idea.
Poc
This deck is more control based than MBdevotion but the idea is the same, instead of draining your opponent with gary, you drain them with 20 point exsanguinates and profane commands. Rodrigo
Although I think Grave Titan is much better than Hythonia.
Poc
Obviously there are much better options for cards in this deck, If i had piles of cash I would use karn and wurmcoils instead of hythonia, but the idea of this deck was to be an effective budget deck. Hythonia is a nice option since you can get her out and monstrous her pretty quickly with the tron and she has a built in board wipe.
Rodrigo
That's true enough, but Grave Titans aren't expensive either. 5 dollars each, I believe.
Poc
Hmm, ill try him out in the deck, he fits the budget guidelines.
Simping For Hina
But...there is no reason to play the tron lands. Mono Black Control would just be more fitting. This deck is just adding unnecessary stuff to it that can be filled with better things....
Poc
This deck is meant to be cheap, if I wanted to I could make a modern Mono black devotion deck but it would be adding 300-400$ to the cost of this deck. This is a very effective deck for its price. The tron lands allow it do remain cheap to build and be effective in the modern meta game.
Simping For Hina
Mono Black Control =/= Devotion and Control is a much easier route to understand with a better curve for control than this deck has. You're also missing a lot of good cards that help with control. There are seemingly better options to go on here, and also a bunch of cards that just help. You're relying on the Tron lands to even make this deck work, but that is what is going to make it bad. Use the tron lands as a method to ramp, but not your main point in running control. That is what is going to weaken you when playing, reliance on cards that seem like they will help in that moment, but not the perfect draw. Even with draw power, you're taking a big hit for too much of an investment and little gain.
