You better follow the rules (of the Leaderboard).

I'll throw you a Like if you beat me, up to you if I beat you. Also, voters, rejoice in the like I'll give you sexy people for using your own time on this.

Feel free to change your vote, so long as your vote hasn't been responded to by one of the competitors/the vote count hasn't been updated. First to 3 wins.

Provide a decent amount of reasoning, as lacking it may get your vote voided(yes, even if for my card).

Contest will end 5/15, around 10:00PM Central time, with the card with more votes winning.

I will accept the first person tomorrow (Going to sleep). If you're the first responce, it's safe to assume you're accepted :P

Card Requirements

Changing this since no one has accepted yet.

I liked the requirements on someone else's, so our task is to support one of the new archetypes released in Duelist Advent/Alliance

Card A

When this card is activated: You can reveal 1 "Heavyweight Samurai" monster in your hand; Special Summon it and equip it with this card. Equip only to a "Heavyweight Samurai" monster. The equipped monster gains 800 DEF. Negate the effects of your opponent's cards during the Battle Phase. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, target 1 Machine-Type monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

Card B

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can change this card's battle position. While this card if face-up on the field, "Heavyweight Samurai" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by card effects. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Heavyweight Samurai" from your Deck with less DEF than this card.

Ah, sure.

Card A has more use in countering the currently largest weakness of the Heavyweights, being able to Summon Big Ben-K quickly. In addition, its protection from cards during the battle phase is very useful, even stopping things like Skill Drain, should the player ever be so unfortunate as to face it. Finally, the recycling power provided if it gets destroyed is of great assistance for reviving dead Big Bens to be Summoned with another of these.

Card B protects the player's Heavyweights from being destroyed, but cards such as the aforementioned Skill Drain or more likely cards like Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon or Dimensional Prison are still very dangerous. Its Special Summoning effect is fairly irrelevant, only being able to search the less important Heavyweights we currently have, and becomes worse when the fact this card is a Level 6 is factored in.

A:

I don't think the "Equip only to a "Heavyweight Samurai" monster" prefix is required, but anyway regardless of that, it's pretty cool that an equip spell card special summons the monster, and if it's the one with 3500 defense then you've probably put yourself in a nice place. Negating effects during the battle phase is ok, but more so offensively rather than defensively, since its ability to stop your opponents effect when destroyed is really neat, as well as stop hand traps.

B:

This card seems pretty cool, with the monster that cannot be destroyed by battle, this card can form a pretty effective defense barrier. A lot of things don't destroy so there are plenty of ways to get around them of course, but it is a good effect which warrants a level 6 monster. The main issue is getting it out, since giant rat is probably the best way and with lack of draw engines for level 6s outside of malicious/destiny draw, this card could be dead at times.

I don't think either card would make the archetype that good, but given how undeveloped it is I wouldn't expect a single card to be able to do so. They're both pretty well balanced on par with each other in my opinion, but I think card A has more potential than B assuming more monsters are released, since the battle phase immunity actually makes attacking viable, without your opponent activating sent to graveyard effects.

So I vote for A!

And I'll finish this, yea Card A is really a godsend for the archetype, negate everything during the BP maybe too much, but since they're focusing on DEF and need Big Ben to deal the real damage, I think it's fine, Card B is not bad though, but it's easier to deal with than Card A (DP, CED, BTS, Chain'd, etc.) so my  vote go to Card A

Thanks, good game. I think I was so concerned in making my card balanced that it may have turned out a bit weak considering how little the support the archetype has. I actually prefer your card, but ill put mine up slightly edited in RC if anyone wants to add any suggestions. Thanks again, and congratulations Therrion on the sweep!
