BehindTheMask
Who the f*** is trying to be "edgy." A moronic statement was made, I responded to it. Profanity was used. You're reading way too far into it. You are. you didnt add anything to the discussion by swearing at all. Either its a crutch for your terrible posting, or you just wanna seem 2cool4school. P.S. Swearing is against the rules...ya know, the ones you are supposed to enforce. :) On topic: The U.S. is falling behind in one of the most important things(in my opinion) - Education. Without a solid education backing, its hard for a country to grow and thrive. The system encourages memorization instead of critical thinking. Standardized testing forces the teachers to teach the test, rather than the subject matter. I was in a critical thinking class my sophomore year in college, and a majority of my classmates struggles to understand casual relationships and other simple logic problems. Right. And you're definitely correct in stating that swearing adds nothing to the conversation yet you managed only to point out said trivial aspect. K. I'm well aware it's against the rules, it's also the reason why I already issued myself a warn. Furthermore if you still have an issue pm me to alleviate any further spam. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Couldn't give less of a f*** how people "feel." Ignorance is ignorance and should never be rationalized in any way shape or form. "Couldn't give less of a f*** how people feel". And yet you say ignorance shouldn't be rationalized. You realize how ignorant it is to say that you don't care about how people feel? The way people feel about something GREATLY effects how it's viewed and dealt with. If you don't take how people feel into account you're never going to get anything done. Save your tough guy "I don't care what stupid people think" BS. Oh and if you haven't noticed, people STILL are against Japanese (and any other Asian) Americans. So yes, things are changed, maybe not "forever" but for a long time. As for education. I could go on and on about how stupid the education here in the U.S. is, it baffles me how it's stayed so bad so long.

The way it was phrased portrayed the notion that because one group of extremists decided to bomb the world trade center that now it's automatically okay for people to feel fear towards and hate against anyone who is Muslim simply because the two share something as trivial as faith. What they "feel" is misconstrued and directed towards the wrong people due to ignorance. So yes, I legitimately could not give less of a fuck what they feel. Honestly I don't know how you got that from the post. I did not get from it them saying it was okay for people to hate them. However, it is understandable that people would fear it. Until they're taught otherwise, especially with how it's portrayed, it's impossible to get rid of that. Not caring what they feel basically just gives ignorance free reign. If you want the fearful attitude to change you need to understand how people feel. I can only assume you don't care about changing this attitude, in which case I don't know why you care about the subject so much. If you don't take into account how they feel, nothing will change and ignorance will win. Also you seem to be swearing in most of your posts here, maybe you need to take a break. Night
Wow. Honestly I don't know how you got that from the post. "Did you know that even today in the UK, if a woman is walking down the street ina Burka, people avoid that person like the Plague.... Because they are afraid. London had its own Tube Bombings a few years back that rekindled the hatred for Muslims and Islam." However, it is understandable that people would fear it. Until they're taught otherwise, especially with how it's portrayed, it's impossible to get rid of that. No, it is not understandable, that's the fucking point I'm trying to make. There is absolutely no reason why you should fear an innocent woman on the street simply because of her choice in attire. Why would anyone need to be taught not to be ignorant? Also you seem to be swearing in most of your posts here, maybe you need to take a break. I wholeheartedly agree, my tolerance for stupidity is wearing thin. Also you seem to be swearing in most of your posts here, maybe you need to take a break. I wholeheartedly agree, my tolerance for stupidity is wearing thin. Okay first. That didn't say at all that it was okay to do that. They were simply pointing out that it happens. The reason it happens is they're afraid. They didn't say it was right, just that it was. Why would anyone need to be taught not to be ignorant? Did you REALLY just say that? How can you not be ignorant if you're NOT taught. What are you even saying? Fear makes people do stupid things. Not understanding makes people fear. That's basic human emotion. "Understandable" is not the same as "okay". It's not okay to fear them but I understand the reason WHY they do. And if you want things to change you need to accept that it's how people feel. Not sure if you're calling me or people in general stupid. Either way, if you're not trying to understand how they feel of course you're going to hate them. People can change their views but if they aren't given reason to (and in fact are shown several reasons, false as they may be, not to) they simply won't. OT: Actually, this could be considered on topic. As much as I don't like it, ignorance towards other cultures is something America has to deal with. Something that needs to be fixed. By, yes, teaching people. Showing them why they're wrong, not just simply screaming at them how terrible they are.

What are you even saying? Yup, officially my last post otherwise I'm going to stab myself in the fucking eye. Anyone who sees Muslim radicals on tv and then sees an innocent Muslim woman on the street and immediately associates the two is a fucking idiot. You do not need to be taught not to associate the two, any rational and moral person would already know that one person's actions does not constitute another's, therefor, the only reason left to feel any fear or hate towards said person is ignorance or downright racism. Furthermore, by saying "it's understandable that they would feel fear or hate towards an innocent Muslim woman" you are rationalizing ignorance. There is no rationale, because again, any competent person wouldn't associate an extremist with an innocent bystander in the first place. Regardless, I've literally stated the same thing about five times only to be mistaken, if you still don't get it by now then that's honestly your problem. Yin wanted the topic alleviated from religion about twenty posts ago so get back on topic or don't post.

If you're shown only negative associations of course you're not going to understand. If you just dismiss them as idiots then they have no way of knowing WHY they're wrong. And it's understandable that they fear what they don't understand. The people I'm talking about are those who don't know anything about the religion or culture of Muslim people. Ignorance is perfectly rational. Everyone is ignorant until they learn more. That's the definition of ignorance and I really can't understand why you don't understand this. I AM on topic. I'm not talking about religion in general. I'm talking about the ignorance prevelant in America and how it could be changed. The first step to changing it is to see why they don't understand and teach them the actual facts. And obviously you're not the only one being mistaken. Thanks for insulting me, being off topic, and then telling me I have to get back on topic or shut up.

I'll bet you anything that 99.999999% of this whole website knows absolutely nothing about Islam; if they do know something it's not even sufficient. So I'd REALLY make sure that I wouldn't start talking about Islam, 9/11, or any incident which what America says "Muslims did it". People seem to misunderstand religion; not just Islam but religion in general. Everyone wants to judge and talk crap about religion when they haven't even delved deeply into any religion. Irony right there.
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Who needs education when you have the most poweful military in the known universe? Well isn't this a rosy way of looking at things? Did this comment make anyone else think of what I think is a scene in the opening five minutes of Full Metal Jacket; when some Iraqi civilian is stood on a hill waving what is very clearly a white flag, young trooper shoots him anyway, then shouts down to his mate "What was he holding?" Did me.

Irony right there. Yeah I'm fairly ignorant about religion all together. I understand some concepts but I never really went too far into it. Which is why I never tried to explain what it was or anything. That's the point. I'm ignorant, but because of what I've learned I'm not ignorant enough to have anything against people who weren't directly involved. Unfortunatly that idea is not spread very well in America so many people have only negative thoughts on the religion. They're ignorant, but they can be made less ignorant and not be as hateful. It's funny how people really don't have this attitude about a certain more western religion. Portrayals in American media can be utterly cringe-worthy.
