-Berserker-
The other day I decided to finally visit the Resort. First thing I did was check the IVs of all the pokemon I had collected. Discovered my Raikou (that I had soft reseted until I got it Timid) is 5IVs, missing Sp.Def. Discovered something about the IV judge too, and I don't know if it only applies when playing in spanish as I do, or if it applies to everybody else: We have a part of the pokemon info that tells us when and where we got it and at what level, along with a little description that gives us a clue of how high their best IV is. I made the judge look at two pokemon that had the characteristic "Es algo orgulloso" (That is 31 Sp. Def in the spanish language game), and while he always got right which was the best IV, he didn't always say the stat "cannot be beat", instead saying the stat is pretty good or something like that. The characteristics isn't which stat is 31 IV, it determines which stat is HIGHEST, at least to my recollection. Obviously, if it's a 31, it'll be mentioned as the highest, but it could be the highest stat and be a 30 or lower, explaining why it's fantastic, rather than "can't be beat". EDIT: Bulbapedia says characteristic is indeed determined by which IV is highest, but it has to do with the remainder of the IV/5. So for SpDEF, it'll have that characteristic if the SpDEF IV is highest, and is also a 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, or 31. (Assuming that "somewhat vain" is the characteristic)
Myst
Anyone want to add me on FC? 0834-1852-7064 I have heaps of breedjects that I don't need.
Βyakuya
Anyone got HA Spinda? Despite encountering it so many times on the Pokedex it's been pretty damn hard getting one.
Toffee.
Hey Byaku, does your team, IE the one in your signature(Assuming you have others) have a Mega Stone on each of the first 4 Pokemon in it?
EliminateHRN
I was wondering, do you guys catch pokemon as you go through the game or do you guys only catch the pokemon you'll need (team members and HM slaves) and wait until after defeating the Elite Four to start filling up your PokeDex? I'm just not sure if I should start catching pokemon now near the beginning or if I should just wait until I defeated the Elite Four to start catching and raising other pokemon. Flash Flyer - Sakura
More or less catch them as I go along; although I did import some stuff from my X cartridge, so... A few things I skipped over because they're not necessary. For legendaries, still have to catch Landorus, Uxie and Giratina. Oh yeah, and Kyurem (though I already got its dex entry, because of said importing) My Zekrom was a bitch to catch (I forgot what its IVs are + it's Rash natured), hence I won't use it. ---------- So yeah, I more/less wait until after E4 (or the Kyogre/Groudon episode) to do stuff. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Generally I just catch whatever ones I like first as they pop up. And after E4 is when I would go out to catch more that I didn't first time through. Seems like the best idea to me, as once you are at that point you have access to all kinds of things to help with catching.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
DexNav is your friend though, if you really want those Egg moves + perfect IVs. And also items in certain cases. DexNaving Absols proved very beneficial when they yielded 8-9 Life Orbs (which saves +100 BP to be used for other things) + some Egg moves stuff. Now if only I could find a shiny one. Cin
I just import everything from bank, I'm lazy only catching for Hidden Abilities now. Ditching Swablu from my team, Erractic is just annoying. Anyone got any suggestions for a non-legendary flying type. I was debating Flygon. Flash Flyer - Sakura
I think Talonflame is still a popular choice right now, because of Gale Wings + base 126 speed for Brave Bird or whatever. Though, Stealth Rock and some other things might be some problems (It's Medium-Slow however); also base 81 atk isn't particularly great (though Altaria has base 80 sp atk before Mega, so...) It requires Bank/GTS trading, so probably not a good idea. Flygon is a good choice though (although it's technically not a Flying type), but it can use Fly so not too bad. Otherwise, I would suggest Salamence or something (even though it's harder to train than Flygon), and Bagon's available mostly in Hordes in the deeper part of Meteor Falls (and you don't get Waterfall until Wallace is beaten) Swellow's a relatively quick Poke to train + available quite often on the routes. Stat-wise, it's fast enough and base 85 should be decent enough to deal with in-game stuff until you've access to better things.
The Warden
Eh, I spent my time post-game catching stuff in X, which makes it easy as my now living PokeDex allowed me to just Bank over my collection to complete AS' NatDex before I was even at Rustboro. I think it's better to catch Pokemon post-E4, as then you can use a strong pokemon to False Swipe everything to make things much easier in terms of capture. LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
I think Swellow is the best choice for easy in-game Flying types. (I'm using a Tropius for Fly but that's just me.)
-Griffin
I had a pokemon X I didn't play much, just beat the E4 and stopped: I'm now trying to fill up my AS Dex decently using both games, I've caught pretty much everything you can find in them outside of Friend Safari, mostly thanks to my Cobalion I taught Thunder Wave/False Swipe because I was too lazy to train anything else that learns False Swipe. Jord200
Now that I've beaten the game, Wonder Trade extra stuff, go after the Regis, other Legendary Pokemon, do contests, or go back to X, and finish the Pokedex since I'm just 50 away from having seen and owned every Pokemon? Also, is there any way to eventually get the fossil you didn't pick, like in Emerald, or is it just gone for good?
~British Soul~
I normally catch stuff as I go along so I can use them for my living dex. Although I also want to have every Vivillon pattern and a complete Unown dex as well, then I'd personally consider my living dex complete. In fact, the main reason I use WT nowadays is to not only get stuff for my dex, but to get other Scatterbugs/Spewpas/Vivillons and WT duplicate patterns. Also, is there any way to eventually get the fossil you didn't pick, like in Emerald, or is it just gone for good? I think it's like the originals where the other fossil is gone for good. Jord200
Dang..... One more thing, can I just borrow my sister's 3DS and trade Pokemon from X/Y to ORAS, or do I need Pokebank..... I really would rather not pay $5 a year or month ( whatever it is ) for the rest of my life....

Cin
Raised Salamence last game and Talonflame HA not that long ago either. I did debate using Archeops anyone raised one? It's £5 a year for a bank, so barely anything.

~British Soul~
That's certainly sparked a flood of fb posts of people saying they have HA Snivys for trade because they can be now. I need to get around breeding mine (That I got before it was trade-locked) and then get on the hype train and distribute them to people. Although it's mainly been hyped, I mean it isn't that great. Βyakuya
Can't really see the hype with Contrary Snivy. Leaf Storm would be nice but I really can't see it growing up to be something worth being a beater despite its high base Speed. On the other hand, Contrary Spinda has been on my sights, so I really want one if anyone would like to trade.
