I still need to determine an appropriate Poke to deal with the other categories: Cute, Smart, Tough and Cool.

I refuse to use LC/NFEs though, because I do mostly battles + as a result, they should be fully evolved.

If I ever get the drive to breed a new Metagross, probably can use that for Tough/Cool contests (depends on what its movepool is)

I did not know that was a thing. Thats pretty interesting.

Yeah it is interesting. I decided to put the Beldum in my team so I can read that dialogue.

I noticed this in my AS run and was utterly baffled by what he was talking about. I knew he was referencing something, but the first part was so ambiguous, because he said something about the "white beauty" I traveled with.

Now I realise he was referring to the shiny Metagross. Didn't realise that was the trigger.

Out of curiosity did you watch act 2 of the Mega Evo special? If not, that probs be the reason why you were baffled by what Steven was referring to in that dialogue.

I only remember ever rematching in Emerald once (Against Norman) so it's not a common thing so I'm not surprised if people don't remember. Shame you can't force it like you could in HGSS, but I suppose maybe the next easy rematches will be if/when they remake Diamond/Pearl as long as they keep the rematch from Platinium.

The contest levels that do not yield a Ribbon can be easily beat: give your pokemon enough pokeblocks matching the contest's type (or rainbow pokeblock(+)). The amount of points you get from that round is almost, if not, enough to beat the entire competition.Sporting 2 moves of the contest tpye with a somewhat different effect can be somewhat beneficial; scores better at the start/end of the round, getting pumped up (you score 1 more point for each star), etc. Only Toughness is left for me to do; my Latios has beaten all other types. Here is a list of the moves I thought him (at least from what I can remember); this is not to say that this is the best configuration:

  • Cool: Thunderbolt, Dragonbreath;
  • Beautiful: Surf, Psychock, Dragon Pulse;
  • Cute: Tough Claws, Grass Knot, Return
  • Clever: Roost, Secret Power, Calm Mind.

On a similar note, it seems as though feeding your Pokemon Pokeblock (or winning contest; though I think the former) raises your Pokemon's affection; similar to Pokemon Amie.

Milotic has been such an amazing Pokemon...

My Emilia (Miltoic name) has Marvel Scale combined with Rest/Sleep Talk duo along with Scald for the STAB + Burn chance and Dragon Tail. Pretty awesome with Ferrothorn and other trap setters and Dragon Tail ranks up additional damage. Only relative weaknesses would be Grass and Electric, but Ferrothorn and Gliscor buffers it all out so well. Add on top tough IVs and max EVs in HP and Def and she's a decent tank that can stand up to most Dragon Beaters and Talonflame.

Not to mention Rest/Sleep Talk marks as a combo in Cute competitions, and Scald/Dragon Tail takes care of Tough ones. All the moves are TM replaceable, so fitting movesets for Beauty competitions will also be a piece of cake. She ain't a Shiny but she'll be so ideal for all-round contest winning and Doubles trolling. <3

Went up against Wattson last night.

Meme(Marshtomp) just Mud One-Shot'd everything, and the I wound up fudging the fight to end up facing against his Magneton last.

Switched to Hyenard(Mighteana) who subsequently did Intimidate then Snarl to cut it's ATK then lower it's SP.ATK, to which, I then did Howl and Bite to utterly destroy his last Pokemon.

Apparently my game really wanted Wastton dead...

....

I miss the TM for Shockwave.

I have all of those. It's my reward for collecting a physical Pokedex.

I have no reliable way of training my Pokes, even to Level 50, without rebattling E4 (takes 2 runs WITH LUCKY EGG) -.-

GL rematches should've been in, yeah. Or Restaurant Le Wow kind of place.

My preferred place to grind in XY was in the gave with Durant hordes. With Lucky Egg you get 4000 EXP per. Sadly, don't think OR/AS has a similar yay to grind.

Did you miss the Mauville Food court? That should assist a little, I got all my team to Lv 56 without grinding.

I'm assuming they mean for mass leveling, such as trying to fill a pokedex and needing to level a few hundred pokes. Ideally you want to train 5 pokemon to max evolution in a few battles, and without the League's cutscenes and distance between battles.

The best way in this game is to get a bunch of hideouts registered with 6 level 100 blisseys that suicide themselves, its a bit cheaty and requires online, but it works fast, generally levels the whole team to 50-60 from below 10 in one fight.

Ah nah, usually for competitive. But in gen 5, I used the courts in 4th gym city for mass battling. And for some reason, I can't get the Blisseys to be Level 100, even with that computer thingo, and you can battle the Blissey teams only once a day so.. ._.

Twice/day per secret base. You have to favourite the hideout, battle them there, invite them to your hideout, battle them there, then kick them out of your hideout ready for the next day.

Ooh, I didn't know that.

In XY, I always used the Battle Chateau for grinding. The Audino trainers gave lots of Exp, and money was a non-issue.

Ok, I have to ask. Has anyone gotten those two TMs in the Safari Zone? It looks like you need BOTH the Mach and Acro Bike to get them.... I got Solarbeam, but it looks like there is two others.

Same with the Absolite.

Yes, you need both bikes. You have to advertise the bikes, then the bike shop owner gives you the second. Mach bike in the desert, Acro bike just before or after Fortree (I forgot), either bike on battle resort island thing. You find someone to talk to, they compliment the bike, and then they don't appear again after you leave and come back, so you might not find 'em because you talked to them before.
