Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Got tired of soft resetting, so finished the Delta episode with the first Rayquaza and Deoxys I captured. And then went and captured the Eon Ticket Latios soft resetting just a couple of times and not getting what I wanted.

Rayquaza ended up being +Sp.Atk -Def, Deoxys +Def -Sp.Def, and Latios +Speed -Def. I think I can do something with the last one.

Now about to start the Delta Episode on OR. May's Swellow was such a troll, constantly U-Turning. (It literally was the last thing to die)

I also need to start AS at some point, although I will capture some early, "filler mons" that I can use until I add my real team members. (To prevent the overlevelling of Treecko)

Breeding Pokes for the sake of getting a good nature is a freaking pain in the ass.

 

Trying to breed my Gligar to at least aim for Impish/Careful Nature, and when I finally get either one, it isn't Immunity. For f**k's sake there should be a held item that keeps Ability aside from Nature.

 

It's bad enough that Gligar offspring from my Male HA Gligar have 3 possible Abilities, with some variable IVs, and even if I tried to breed with a Female Gligar with a good Nature, somehow none of the offspring have HAs.

 

 

In the end I managed to breed a Female Impish HA Gligar with another to pass down all Impish Natures and Immunity to them. In the end I have Max IVs on Atk and Speed, but I am too lazy to add more Def and Sp. Def IVs on top so he's my final result.

 

Dude, Gliscor is all about defense though.

Just got this game earlier in the week & now completed the main story. Was fun wiping the pokemon league with just a Linoone using Belly Drum, Head-butt, Shadow Claw, and Pin Missile. One-shot that silly mega-metagross thing. Time to work on the dex I guess, then figure out what species I IV breed first.

I swear, I play games at the slowest pace. I just got a copy of Omega Ruby for Christmas and haven't even started a game on it yet. Probably need to do that tomorrow; would anyone mind trading me the other two starters if any of you have spares of them? Nah, but I do have an actual question. The shiny Beldum event is still going on, correct? Can you keep soft resetting to get a good nature or is the nature fixed when you download it?

Oh I can update here too, I forget that. Okay so far I'm able to tell that I will need to give a lot of extra rules to my Locke once I do it. The game is fairly easy so far, besides a few fights. But it's all good, I enjoy it still.

Not quite sure, but I assume you can soft reset it until you get an acceptable nature and IVs.

As for the event, yeah it should still be going.

 

Probably should've saved first before getting it; having a Gentle nature on mine kinda sucks to an extent.

According to Serebii and Bulbapedia, this event lasts until the 14th of January. And yes, you can soft reset for a good IV-spread/nature; the Nature and IVs are determined when you retrieve it from the delivery girl. This might not hold true for all events (the Celebi from Pokemon Box got stored somewhere in your boxes, and immediatly saved; so much for soft resetting), but it is at least true for this event. Key is, as Sakura Haruno has already mentioned, that you save before you obtain the Pokemon from the delivery girl (and not directly afterward).

Currently EV Training my Gliscor and Shroomish. In XY I found that Super Training was a nice way to get EVs, but Horde Battling now in ORAS is more efficient and less effortful and monotonous. Which method do you guys prefer?

Hordes + a Macho Brace is almost always more effective than Super Training, especially since you can do it with multiple pokemon. Super Training however, is much better at getting those small refined values that's difficult to do with Hordes.

 

Basically, it's best to do Hordes first, then use Super Training for those finicky EVs.

I horde train to get points fast, and just remove the EV items if I need to gain points in little ammounts, and attacking single pokemon instead of entire hordes at once.

horde + power item + pokerus = 5 battles to max a stat IIRC. pair that w/ tropius(fly/sweet scent/razor leaf/eq) for quick ev training.

Venusaur is much better IMO. He knows Sweet Scent and Earthquake/Sweet Scent respectively. He can't fly but he does cover Grass ineffectiveness.

Hordes are much quicker, although Super Training has its merits for small EVs that can't be done or faster training in certain stats in which Horde Pokes lack.

 

Lately, I've been using a Sweet Scent user + another Poke with a spread move. It really works wonders.

Assuming I reset game before the promo goes away, I can probably still see it. (Or just buy Ruby)

 

Might as well raise another Charizard for its X and Y formes, even if IVs aren't perfect (If I remembered where my X cartridge is, that would be great since I can breed for stuff)

 

 

It kinda sucks that you can't rematch your rival after the E4 (much like the original RSE); would've been nice to fight their Mega Evolved starter.

But I guess the Trainer Eyes for others somewhat makes up for it.

It was in Emerald that they let you rematch the GLs, the same with Platinum.

I noticed this in my AS run and was utterly baffled by what he was talking about. I knew he was referencing something, but the first part was so ambiguous, because he said something about the "white beauty" I traveled with.

 

Now I realize he was referring to the shiny Metagross. Didn't realize that was the trigger.
