Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Phantom Roxas

If they keep the Exp All like it was in XY, I'll just train a ton of different Pokemon like I did in X.

Remember when you could choose wherever E4 member you wanted to face first? Out the window!

I don't see the huge problem. It hardly presents (that much more of a challenge). Tbh I hardly noticed a difference in difficulty between a preset order of Elite Four, and when you got to choose what Elite Four you faced first.

Does it really matter? There is not really a change in difficulty at all.

Agreed. But I figure since this is technically a Gen VI game you could choose the E4 in any order:

  • Sidney, Glacia, Phoebe, Drake
  • Glacia, Drake, Sidney, Phoebe
  • Drake, Phoebe, Glacia, Sidney

etc. And I guess if Juan will be in the game he could be an optional battle post-game. After all if this will follow the original, Wallace will be the final Gym Leader. Unless they do what they did in BW and have Wallace in AS and Juan in OR. Plus, if contests are coming back Prism Scale will be thrown out the window. Worse, since Feebas is one of those random location pokemon It will be aggravating not getting one on the first try.

Also, with these updated looks, makes you wonder what Winona, Liza and Tate, Wallace, Juan, Glacia and Drake will look like.

I doubt they will throw out the Prism Scale. Remember how this is a Gen VI game? If they got rid of the Prism Scale, a lot of players will have a fit. As for Feebas, it's supposed to be a challenge and probably always will be. All you need is luck. And that will never change,

I rememeber having the EXP All off for a while and finding that even with only 3 or 4 pokemon in my party I was under leveled.

Pretty much this^

While you could argue that the teambuild and AI for most of the NPC trainers was not best out there, it's also true that, with the Exp. Share turned off, if you didn't level grind a lot between trainer battles, you'd find yourself constantly underleveled during a X/Y run. I experienced that during the two I conducted (one for each version).

Yea, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the Mega either. I didn't like it at first because it looked pretty off balance with the giant arms in the front and nothing in the back, but the arms just hanging there is really awkward.

If the arms were more tucked in I think it would be fine. The way they look in that picture, they just kind of hang there. I want to like, but I'm going to need better images. It doesn't help matters that Meta is one of my favorite pokemon.

I'm not that happy with the Sp.Atk increase. It would need to be MASSIVE to make a special set better than a physical one, especially with him getting Tough Claws.

I see it receiving only a symbolic 10-point increase in S.Atk, while the stats that really matter get the bulk of the 100 BST boost.

I guess the primary difference is that in X/Y, Mega Evolution was just being understood, and very limited people even knew about it, much less had access to it. They were restricted to Korrina (Mega Lucario), the player, Lysandre (Mega Gyarados), and Dianthra (Mega Gardevoir). Post-game, your rival had Mega Absol.

I imagine OR/AS will expand on Mega Evolution, and several prominent characters will have access to it.

Yeah, but bear in mind that it's already confirmed the remakes take place at the exact same time period as the original ones. So it'd be kind weird for so many characters to be able to Mega Evolve their mons when the phenomenon was just starting to be unveiled in X/Y, which happens long after the RSE events.

Also, on the topic of Secret Power/Secret Bases, I figure they'll give it the same treatment as Headbutt had in HGSS: it will be taught by a Move Tutor at the same point where you obtained the TM in the original games. And probably Aarune will be the one to do it instead of a random NPC like before.

My guess for the break down will be

ATK: +20

DEF: +10

Sp.ATK: +10

Sp.DEF: +20

SPE: +40

Thats a pretty scary increase assuming it ends up close to that.

Or you could say "f*** chance" save hours of your time and just trade from X/Y if you have one from there. Which is what I'll be doing.

Just because it's a remake of Gen III doesn't mean it will revert to the previous mechanics, especially if those mechanics were unnecessarily tedious and difficult, such as Feebas. In Gen V+, Feebas is much, much easier to evolve into Milotic. They won't revert to Beauty, because they probably figured the process was ridiculously difficult and tedious. They definitely won't get rid of the Prism scale method, at least.

They might make Feebas harder to get than it was in B/W, but I doubt they'd use the same ridiculous odds they did in the original Gen III.

There have been 3 generations between the original and the remake, each generation expanding and improving the mechanics and balance, with Gen VI going an extra mile to improve accessibility. They might retain some aspects for the sake of regional continuity, but they probably won't take too many steps BACKWARDS in the process.

Haven't decided on a team, but probably going with Blaziken again for a starter [though I already know it'll be Blaze instead of the nice Speed Boost one from the XY event]. If I somehow get lucky with finding Ralts on Route 102, I'll use it. I should go check what I had on team during original RSE (emulator). I might use Salamence (and family) after I get Surf and access the area of Meteor Falls where they're found.

Hopefully they do something similar to what X/Y did and give us some way of obtaining the Mega Stones of the Hoenn starters we didn't choose (which is probably unlikely).

I actually think its very likely that we'll get the stones for the starter we didn't pick. They want to make most stones obtainable for a single copy of the game. I think a more interesting question is what about the Kanto starters' stones, especially Charizard's.

As for me team, I'm thinking

Blaziken

Claydol

Cradily

Mawile

Dusknoir

Milotic

One of the things I'm trying to do with the team is avoid pokemon I've used a ton of. So no Gardevior or Flygon. Another condition is the pokemon must be a 3rd gen line. Dusknoir counts since his family is 3rd gen. TBQH I'm not sure what to do about my 6th slot. Pretty sure it should be a water type, but the only other ones I like would give me 3 pokemon weak to Bug. I'd normally be cool with Milotic, but I'm afraid getting her is going to be a SUPER pain in the ass. As it stands, I like this team.

That's what I'm doing as well; avoid using mons I've used a ton of

One reason I'm going to use Magnezone is even though I used Magneton in RSE, I haven't used a Magnezone at all.

Another mon I think I'll use on my team is Flygon, but I'll probs use it on the game that I pick Treecko.

Really tempted for my first run of OR/AS to be starter solo run+hm slaves whenever/if necessary, 10-years old style for nostalgia purpose. Though if not, I'll probably use:
-Sceptile
-Altaria
-Magnezone/Manectric
-Sallymence
-Linoone
-A water type.

Really have no idea atm for what water type I'd use. Probably ends up with Ludicolo/Tenta.

Also, wishing for Megagross to have at least 105 speed if he did get a great increase to speed.

Hopefully they'll let you trade in mons from the Poke Bank without having to unlock the National Dex first, 'cause that's what I'll wanna do.

As for my team...

Swampert

Crobat

Houndoom

Machamp

Empoleon

Celebi

OR if they don't let you transfer from PokeBank before the National Dex...

Swampert

Crobat

Metagross

Absol

Kingdra

Roserade

It's possible they allow us to evolve it through the two methods. since, with the inevitable return of the Contests, all the conditions will probably see use again in the new games.

I'll say it as no one else seems to have. I'm quite disappointed with the E4 rooms after the XY extravaganza.

Having said that, those treadmills....he clearly works out.

EDIT: almost forgot, Pikachu's mad professor costume may have to be included in my sig, if not become my avatar:
