That still leaves Winona, Tate and Liza, Wallace/Juan, Glacia and Drake.

With Steven as the Champion, I reckon Juan has gotten the shaft (and Wallace is the 8th GL). At best, Juan'll probs make a guest appearance somewhere in Sootopolis.

Also, I still don't see the E4 in ORAS (other than the champ) using mega evos. We went through the same with the E4 in XY, and none of their pokemon mega evolved.

I guess the primary difference is that in X/Y, Mega Evolution was just being understood, and very limited people even knew about it, much less had access to it. They were restricted to Korrina (Mega Lucario), the player, Lysandre (Mega Gyarados), and Dianthra (Mega Gardevoir). Post-game, your rival had Mega Absol.

I imagine OR/AS will expand on Mega Evolution, and several prominent characters will have access to it.

Thing is though, until it's confirmed that the E4 will mega evolve, I'll still stay with my "I think the E4 won't mega evolve" mindset.

That's fine with me. I think all 4 of them using Mega Evos, plus the Champion using a Mega Evo, might be a bit tedious and actually a bit dull and predictable. Certain characters Mega-Evolving in X/Y made the battle itself seem more epic, especially since they sometimes came out of nowhere.

That is also my standpoint with teh E4 (and the Champ) mega evolving. If all of them did it, then it'd get predictable with the next E4 guy you fight.

On another note, because Steven will mega evolve Metagross in the fight, then he'd always use it last, though I can't remember the last time I faced Steven and he didn't use Metagross last.

The head of the evil team, the elite 4 champion, and your rival... what came out of nowhere?

Wouldn't you WANT the Elite 4 to be epic...?

I seem to remember being surprised when Lysandre did it. Not in the sense that it was random, but merely that I didn't expect it to happen. The Champion...I was still trying to remember who she even was. The rival explicitly did NOT have Mega Evolution last time you had checked.

The Elite 4 is a gauntlet challenge. I'm not sure if the first E4 run should pit you against a Mega Evolution every single battle, up to and including the Champion. Later runs are a different thing entirely.

Mega Evos always seem to be that character's ace. Metagross is Steven's ace, so of course it comes out last.

The champ was Diantha (Gardevoir), also your rival did have a mega evolution when you fought them in Kiloude city (Absol)

What if during the first E4 run, they don't mega evolve, but then they are able to in subsequent battles (with higher levels. That'd be interesting.

Sidney has a mega stone in his wrist. Phoebe doesn't have a visible one, but she probably has Mega Banette.

MegaSableye is a more likely possibility. Also going to go out on a limb and guess that MegaSalamence, MegaShiftry and MegaWalrein will all be things due to their positioning in the E4 and due to their uniqueness to each respective leader.

I meant I didn't recognize Diantha's character significance. Most Champions are characters you had encountered previously, and had SOME relevence. Diantha met you like twice, and never really lingered, so she was utterly forgettable, so when the "reveal" happened, I spent most of the battle wondering "Who the hell are you?"

I also meant the rival, last you had known prior to the Kiloude battle, did not have Mega Evo, so discovering he/she had it during that battle was a surprise.

And that is what I'm suggesting. The first E4 gauntlet probably shouldn't pit you against Mega Evos each battle, including the Champion.

When I first battled Diantha in Y, I was like "Wait, she's the champ? When did I last meet her again?"

Didn't we assume the E4 in X/Y would each have a Mega and were wrong? (Even though two of them had Pokemon who could Mega-evolve.)

Anyway, lot to talk about. Mega-Gross, I'm thinking it's going to lose Defense and gain Attack and Speed. It just looks like a faster less bulky thing.

The character designs are looking good, and I like they kept Phoebe basically the same. Not much they could've changed without making a huge change.

As for Sidney, just because he looks more like a punk, doesn't mean he's still not a super nice guy, I doubt they changed his personality much.

I hope Juan does appear somewhere, but I'm happy he's apparently not the Gym Leader, that was a terrible, terrible choice.

And I think that's it, oh and loving the new Pokedex.

Mega Milotic T.T Is that too much to ask Game Freak. That's all I want. That's it. (Okay and character customization, but whatever)

I think the first E4 run only having Mega Metagross and subsequent runs giving each of them a Mega would be fine.

Also, I actually really like the Pikachu costume thing in Amie. If that can be done for every Pokémon...

Also yes please. I'm not going to lie, my favorite part of Pokemon games are usually all the side things you can do, and contests and secret bases were some of my favorite parts of this game. I kind of want this to be like the DPPt were you could put accessories on your Pokemon and stuff.

Also on an unrelated note Koko I love your sig. It's freaking adorable.

I would assume we get to pick this time, if they want to keep the trend going from Gen 5. Chances are though that they might not, considering the center/Poke Mart are different buildings from an earlier leak.

But since Gyarados got a Mega, it's only fair for Milotic to get one. (Might make Zextra happy though)

Speaking of E4, are we gonna pick which one we go up against first again or is it previous order?

Hopefully they revert back to the old E4 system for this game.

Anyways

Mega Diancie's ability is confirmed to be Magic Bounce and next month's issue will have what they're calling a "Mega Evolution Scoop". So we can expect more mega evolutions revealed.

Too many mega evolvers in Gyms and E4, makes it feel alot less special. (And don't expect these Megas to all get a figure, since Mega Houndoom never got one).

Part of me enjoys being able to choose which E4 you can take on next, but part of me likes the traditional way. They should turn off the ability to trade in the lobby though because I could have abused that to heal all my Pokemon. Not that I actually did.

The only issues I have with picking the next Elite 4 member is not the picking, or anything like that. Gen V and Gen VI just take FOREVER to go through each room and actually do the battle. In the Gen V rooms, you have to ascend some sort of thematic staircase. Every time. Gen VI...god, they went to absurd lengths with the Elite 4 rooms. Sure, it looks nice, but it's annoying to have to view every time.

Previous games just go into single, vaguely thematic rooms and talk to the member and fight. Takes like 30 seconds, tops. Gen V and VI take like a minute and a half each.
