Persona 4 The Gold Animation ('bout time somebody made a topic)

Recommended Posts

...so instead of making P3 Anime as an actual series instead of movies, they made this instead.

/ok.

Yeah still waiting for that to get localized (or at least a theater rip so I can watch it illegally online...)

You know how Ubisoft is milking Assassin's Creed? Atlus is doing the same to Persona 4.

Well, whatever. Marie's hot ass is enough reason for me to watch.

I might actually purchase these, just cause I never bought the other animation DVDs, but I probably won't since like I said I can watch them online

I didn't get P4G cause it felt like Atlus was just trying to take my money(And they were) with bonus stuff not availible in the original. P3 and P4 were both great games, an obvious step up from P2, but they're are milking P4 why? I didn't know how bad it was til I saw all the spin-off games like P4 Arena and Dancing all Night. The spin-offs offers interesting stories and crossover content but still just feels like obvious fanservice. I'm ready for Persona 5. I bought SMT IV out of interest from playing Nocturne, but I can't see myself buying another SMT game other than that.

Anyway back on topic, who thought this was okay to do? I still replay Persona 4 all the time, and sometimes 3, but this is getting out of hand. I'm pretty sure that P4G was barely any different from the original other than maybe new shadows, a couple new characters, and maybe new outfits or something like that? They'll really have to do something different with this...

Maybe the P4 Golden anime is going to be a comedy about Yu Narukami’s New Game + experience in which he has broken persona and all his stats are maxed out. It would explain why he’s looking hella cocky despite moving to a hick town that’s in the middle of nowhere and why he’s smiling and looking into the camera like he already knows what’s up

Apparently it'll be 1 cour long, has an original story that takes place after the anime. At least the director this time 'round isn't Kishi fucking Seiji, so it won't be absolute crap, except since this is Atlus milking at its best, it's still shit. Fuck I don't even know what they're going to do for a whole cour. We already know no one important will die due to the P4G epilogue, and bringing in a new conflict is just jewing at its worst. Fuck you Atlus, goddamnnit. The fact it takes place after P4 means we won't get Adachi social linking too, and I was looking to the cabbages.

I don't know what to feel.

I get the feeling you're hating on this way more than you should be. So maybe tone down that a bit and you'll feel better?

Also, what's wrong with Kishi Seiji?

From what I hear, he hasn't done the best job in handling video game adaptions for anime.

Like he did a pretty good job with Persona 4, but then he went on to do Devil Survivor 2 and Danganronpa and those weren't well-received in the places I've lurked around.

But I dunno, I liked Danganronpa and he did Angel Beats, which I liked. But the guy has garnered a bit of a bad rep recently.

I was gonna come in here asking if this was a remastered edition of the original anime, but guess not. So I'll watch the original first before this then, if I like them.

Yeah, so that first episode seemed pretty rushed. Literally double the pace plus all that Marie stuff (which for the most part was pretty solid). And then the next episode already seems to have Kanji in it. Although based on how Yu is I think Raine was right about the New Game+ influence. I do like this Yu but it is a bit much.

I think I miss Kishi Seiji.

The thing is with DeSu it wasn't bad, but they weren't able to add alot of the emotional depth and go into character backgrounds because of time constraints, which was the same problem Dagit Ron Paul had.

Anyways I'll edit this post on what I thought of the first episode tomorrow.

Based on the first couple eps, the main focus would be on the Marie subplot (and Golden's other bonus subplot content, like the bikes) to prevent it from being an outright clone of the base P4A. It's already skipped to June and Kanji's rescue etc was skipped over.

This version of Yu feels a lot more confident. Like a New Game Plus and the player's selecting the dialogue choices they haven't picked before.

EDIT: That overscheduling is hilarious. Seeing Yu break his usual calm self and get dramatic is always funny.

A moment of silence for Yosuke's bike.
