Premier Alexander Romanov
I just noticed that YCM doesn't censor the word "bastard" or "bastards".It also doesn't get the less-commonly-used variant "basterd" or "basterds".Furthermore, it doesn't catch "retard" or "retards".Thought you should know that. 宇佐見 蓮子@C94
They actually have bigger connotations in the UK. You might as well censor the words 'dog' and 'pig', because they have negative connotations in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

evilfusion
I think the overall goal of the censor list is to hit the words that are either severe curse words, or cannot really be used in any other context than a derogatory one. It's also a matter of adding each word and all its variants while also considering that some words have that same combination of letters within them but isn't an offensive word. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Quoting what Yin said in the last thread regarding this matter, it depends on your upbringing (whether or not you are taught that certain words should not be said). What may be offensive in your society may not be so in others, and vice versa. Some so-called swear words do have other meanings that don't have connotations to profanity; they're just used in negative contexts. Granted, bastard is used in negative contexts here in the USA. But as 'Ali gave the dictionary's definition of said word (outside of insults); there's really no way to censor every single word because they're offensive to one area but not elsewhere. As evilfusion noted, just censoring the universal swear words [ones that are considered profane no matter where you live] works fine (though there are members who get around the filter by switching some letters around). Horu
For example: I'd prefer to be called an SOB over a "son of a female dog". The swearing in this case is preferred over the grammatically approved version of such.
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
I posted in the Des Toy Scissor Pair thread earlier about how I expected the American censorship guys to be reacting to the archetype a predicted predominant duelist in Arc-V would be using and the directions it might take in the future to make their lives difficult, and I was quite amused that the censor didn't pick up on, well, a rather vulgar term that can also be used for the act of using a toilet. No I didn't go back and correct it, it's not my fault if the censor is flummoxed by the simple adding of "ing" and I think most people here have the two brain cells necessary to realise s***ting probably doesn't mean shooting. Besides like I said is a technically an action and bodily function :D

ENMaker
I've been on forums where spade is censored but you can freely say fuckmuppet and fucktard without tickling the swear filter. Now to see if all those words make it through here...

LeftIntheDark
A "Bad Word" is simply a matter of an opinion that is setup by culture either by your peers or your country. Most "Bad" words have normal meaning and if used in the right context are not vulgar to anything nor anyone. However, society decided that they use it in vulgar and derogatory ways and that promotes the feel of "Bad Words" being vulgar and rude, the censorship of this website should not be needed for people because there is no such thing as a "bad word" just vulgar language in context. That isnt under dispute here... But there are a collection of words that are considered by the majority to be vulgar is nearly any context, which is what this topic is about.
