Pchi
I'm sorry if there's a rule against such suggestions, but I couldn't find any while searching through the forum :( If you have to lock this topic, fair enough. I wanted simply to suggest we create a sub-section in the TCG forum that allows more casual talking about the card game - random (but not TOO random) just for fun things, to be precise. I don't know if anyone suggested that before, so I'm sorry if it appears as if I'm stealing anyone's idea or harping on an already dead question. The only condition I ask is that we put a rule against topics or posts that are nothing but pure spam, in order not to let the forum sink into garbage. Makο
While I do agree that the TCG section is, at times, a bit militant about this children's card game, I feel adding a whole new sub-section just to avoid them is a bit drastic/unneeded. Flash Flyer - Sakura
I agree that some members who frequent TCG take card related posts extremely seriously (I'm not pointing fingers at any particular members). As a result (based on what I've read in there), discussion in there essentially becomes about things related to the meta or tournament-related business. While the concept of a forum for casual players would be nice, as Mako noted, it's a drastic step just for that. Hopefully we all remember that Yugioh is a "trading" card game, so there are two groups of players: (1) People who play for fun with friends/family, and don't really care about the metagame and (2) Those who compete in tournaments (regionals/Nats/DN or w/e). A possible solution for this might be for members to ease up on taking everything in the competitive view. Those of you in (2), we respect your opinions and desire for the game, but not everything needs to be about how a card (whether or not it exists in the real game or anime/manga only) would stand up in competition. Or a tag system could be instituted (just put [Casual] in title, so things can be discussed from a regular POV). We do need rules in there, so they don't come out like "Blue-Eyes pwns everything or something" I'm not rejecting this suggestion; I do like it, but it proves difficult at times to discuss a card w/out factoring in potential others that'll make it broken or outclassed in some cases. Not-so-Radiant Arin
If you can't keep up with the metagame, that's your own fault. And if you make a new section for casual people who continue to be casual and never improve, it's just going to be bad practice down the road. Nearly 90% of this forum is entirely casual anyway (when compared to sites like DgZ); do you even realize why the majority of tournaments held on here exclude burn/stall/Exodia/alt wins/any other broken Deck from their Deckilst? Because the people that play on this forum can't stand those kinds of Decks. Pure tournaments would just run whatever the hell they wanted to. TCG Section is a mix of "being good at the game but we just don't show it" and "if you don't like the section, get out". The forum is already plenty casual enough as is, and we don't need another section for it.
AGATHODAIMON BANGTAIL COW
I'm pretty sure we can have topics on casual things in TCG already like the ZA WARUDO lock or the Horus line. For something like this to be needed, all of the topics in TCG would have to either be on new cards or cards that strictly go into tier 1-2 Decks. This thing isn't necessary; we would need to be DgZ first before we need to actually devote a section to being even-worse at card games.
evilfusion
The thing is that there's not really too many ways to discuss a card's value without bringing up the meta. It depends on the card, but if you want to bring up a card's use in purely casual play...there's not really much else to say about it. Some cards are simply outclassed by something better. Some Decks are fun to play and good in casual Decks, but have no chance in a remotely competitive scene. And while there are people who just play with friends and so-on, the actual skill level and card pool of their opponents can vary greatly to the point of a card's validity against them being completely subjective. I really can't see us needing a subforum for "undermeta" discussion. You're already free to discuss such cards, but since the best way to judge a card is by the standards of the meta, that's just what tends to happen. Pchi
I'm sorry, I think you all misunderstood me. It's not simply a matter of casual playing vs competitive playing. It's about creating a section where we can discuss topics unrelated to "playing" at all. Like, what's your favorite card, list of card wishes, references in the TCG to other works, etc. Trivial subjects that wouldn't fit in the serious TCG & OCG discussion section, but which certainly spark the interest of many fans out there. Something in these lines.

Pchi
Like this? Yeah, I'm sorry, I thought this section didn't allow any kind of discussions about the TCG...
Blake
I mean, even then, the Banlist section has had lore discussions.
