FTW (For The Wynn)
I decided to wait for the anime to start before starting this topic. Quite an interesting story about the science of magic. Also, for those of you who are familiar with the LN, it looks like the anime will cover up to the end of the Yokohama Arc, which was what I was hoping for. goddamnit names are a pain
I'm REALLLY looking forward to the anime. The manga was good and all but it seems like it would be better as a anime.
FTW (For The Wynn)
Well, I just saw the first episode. It expanded on some things but it covered 2 or 3 chapters. A couple of noticeable changes and some things were skipped over, but still quite good. The fight scene was great. The only thing I'm worried about is if this is a 12-13 episode anime or a 24-25 episode anime. I'm hoping 24-25 just because of the amount of stuff they have to cover. Each arc being 8 episodes sounds a lot better than 4 episodes.
Rodrigo
Downloading the first episode now. You made me excited for it.
Aix
I've read the manga a while back so I was looking forwards to this. Action is pretty good and can't say much else about it so far other than it looks good. Well, I just saw the first episode. It expanded on some things but it covered 2 or 3 chapters. They actually went through about 3.5 chapters of stuff, so I was a little worried, but hearing that reassures me. I'm quite excited for what is to come. Also, if you are unfamiliar with the plot, you should really watch Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Yoku Wakaru Mahouka. It's 2 very short episodes that explain the school system and how magic works in this series. Magic is actually scientific in this series, and delves into scientific properties that can be hard to follow at times. I can't find them on Youtube atm, but I'll post a couple of links both here and in the top post for that. Also, just for reference, the beginning arc is imo the dullest of the 3 arcs. Of course, that is just my opinion and I still enjoy the beginning a lot, but the action doesn't really pick up until Arc 2. vla1ne
I was wondering how they'd do the exposition, but 2 dedicated OVA(?) episodes sounds like it'd work really well. It wouldn't cut into the main series, and it'd leave more room for the rest of the story to continue uninterrupted. madhouse is doing really well so far! FTW (For The Wynn)
Tatsuya's pretty much going to redefine the definition of bada**. Anyway, I love how today's episode ended with the battle that is pretty unexplained (at least if you aren't familiar with the story). It will explain what happened in the next episode. FTW (For The Wynn)
Well, if memory serves, the manga version does the same thing, where the battle ends in an instant and nobody aside from Tatsuya and Miyuki understand why.

Must have been even harder to understand in the manga, since the anime makes it easier because, well, animation.
goddamnit names are a pain
I'm soooo glad we have a male MC that isn't dense, thinks things through, and approaches things from a logical and calm perspective. It's the kind of character I enjoy. Why do I get the vibe he is weak to seduction? It seems like a typical flaw in the cool-headed types.

I wouldn't say that, the other characters were shocked and ask what happened. All I'll say is that there is a lot of secrets in Tatsuya's life.

Rodrigo
Badass-Tsuki for me, at least for now.
FTW (For The Wynn)
Yeah, the LN is a lot further ahead, but I would just read the manga or wait for the series to catch up at this point. Trust me, you'll enjoy it more this way.
Tentacruel
Saw the first episode. Gonna watch the second and possibly do a first impressions video. I like it a bit, but I'm getting a bit tired of the sci-fi magic. I guess I just prefer fantasy.
goddamnit names are a pain
I actually haven't seen a lot of sci-fi magic. The genre feels heavily underdone. And the way in which this is being done is just so appealing. Fantasy is nice but often (if I am thinking about it right) it can't really be as modern as I'd prefer. Tentacruel
It's no so much the period as much as trying to justify everything scientifically. Again I've only seen the first episode of this so I'm not really sure how it works.

Again I've only seen the first episode of this so I'm not really sure how it works. You should watch the 2 episodes I posted in the first post, then, especially episode 2. But, yeah, this version of Magic is kind of complicated, and it only gets more complicated.
Desu the Blue Nerd
I'm liking the magic system and animation but that's honestly about all I find myself actually caring for right now. So you said this gets better, right? Or at least less dull?
goddamnit names are a pain
I fear one of the flaws in "calm and secretly amazing" is that it starts dull. IMO the manga started to pick up a bit but looking back it seemed to relatively stay the same-ish. A lot more action happens in the next few episodes, I guarantee. If that's what you mean by "less dull" I could alternatively say that the brother and sister aren't related by blood and it would be a lot less dull, but I'd be lying.
