RP Rewards?

IDK what you can really do with points these days, but I'm thinking that when an RP ends, I'll give a prize of the # of IC posts x 1000 points to the host to distribute to the participants as he or she deems fair. For example, the recently finished Ragnarok RP would receive 269000 points to be divided among its members, but it was an effort that took almost a year to complete. Thoughts? Not enough?

In general, any rewards system would be beneficial to RP community here. If the members of an RP were diligent and committed enough to finish an entire RP or even just make significant progress, points would be nice, maybe even an incentive for later RPs. Good job! *motions two thumbs up*~

Also how would one measure progress of an RP. Is that up to the host?

Well, I have to say that this is a good way to promote the completion of RPs.

Like BaliasGale said, a Hall of Finished RPs might do the trick as well.

EDIT: At the rate RPs are being created, this is needed for now.

I especially, who constantly advocates for the efforts of a RP to continue on to its conclusion, approve of this idea wholeheartedly! With or without a reward, I always love the satisfied feeling you get when you follow one of them all the way to the finish - and something like this could motivate them to do just that.

You know, when I had Legend Blood finish after a ton of difficulty with motivating everyone and pushing onwards, I actually asked the moderator who locked it (think it was Phosphorus) whether the participants could get some kind of reward, or maybe there could be a stickied thread which had all the finished RPs. And I was ignored. Oh well~ Still, I do sort of wish that something was done so that all those who participated in the RP would be recognized for their hard work.

Also, not sure if this could contribute, but I've had a RP Hall of Fame in my signature for a while. It was completed a while back with a full list of completed roleplays throughout YCM's history (even the ones that were completed rather, er...abrupt), but I lost most of it when that error thing wiped out my sig, though I've been able to rebuild it since.

Since we have Merciful's preservation of completed pieces, are we perhaps a little closer to this being resolved?

By the way, just a quick idea that came to mind - perhaps a minimum number of pages required?

Pros I can think include there being a sense of investment into the RP, as well as a drive to get a good RP told, and of course it stops people making 3 page RPs, finishing it, and demanding a large lump sum of points for minimal effort.

Cons, of course, include with a limit comes people seeking to profit on just reaching the goal, perhaps a decline in quality to "manufacture" Point-Cow RPs, etc.

Rather, we observe their investment by looking through the OOC thread as well as the IC progression and stuff. If anyone tries to fake-finish an RP simply for the sake of points, it should be pretty obvious. I think we should also judge RPs by their overall quality and the spirit of the participants, not just the fact that it's finished.

Yeah, I'll be giving RP Rewards, just PM me when an RP is finished. At any rate, I doubt any post-spam RPs are going to be showing up any time, you guys don't seem that desperate for points of all things.

I think, and I could be wrong, that he was referring to you rewarding points to legitimate RPs that have already finished.

I really like this. And perhaps a Hall of Fame for some of the best? I would love to read some of the older ones that the community agrees are worth recognition.
