While a fair question, we still don't want someone posting in ancient threads from several months back (I'm thinking of things like TCG and Decks), where the format usually evolved (possibly by a banlist release) and the original thread is now obsolete. It would just be more logical to start the discussion entirely anew with a new thread than to revive something that was finished/died already.

This also avoids possible confusion if someone re-reads the revived thread and doesn't notice the dates, making them think the opinions are CURRENT, especially if the gamestate has already changed.

Well that's fair enough for those forums. Yes, if a thread has become genuinely redundant then of course it makes sense to lock it.

However, for the rest of the forum, I can't see a problem with it.

See, the thread I posted in was "Recommend me music and bands"
http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/309900-recommend-me-bands-and-music/#entry6378470
I didn't think it was a spammable topic. It's one of those threads that COULD be posted to any time. Plus, it was on the front page.

But I don't make the rules, nor do I enforce them so it's not my call.

Despite fear of raising discussion in a thread that is now complete of it's original purpose, can I be one to raise a new question as to why, on a forum such as this, necro-bumping would even be an issue?

I know the rules. I wrote them. But they are from a different time, when this forum was turning over thousands of posts a day. I would find it bizarre that posting in any thread would be cause for concern, given that there have been barely 200 posts made on the entire forum in the last 24 hours.

I don't really have a point, just raising a discussion. It would seem to me that YCM now has the luxury of being unspammable, since any untoward activity can be easily tracked down and removed, and the remainder is better than no activity.

Does that make sense? Thoughts?
