Wii U sucks

Wii U is sucky. It doesn't even make sense. To play a game, you have to buy basicly another TV, but it's like

about 5 or so inches high and like 7 inches wide. to play cooler Wii games. Why the hell do I need another retard ass screen to play a Wii game?! Oh I know. It's to find secrets and myteries in the map. some side quest or something. I don't give a F about getting those secrets. I just want to complete the game! They have people bending their necks to watch frickin small things in the map that doesn't even matter. I... DON'T.. WANT... TO BEND... MY NECK... TO PLAY.... A GAME! It's like a DS, but somehow worse. At least with the DS i only have one screen and don't have to look down every 5 seconds for a piece of crap in the ground that I don't even need. Nintendo was destroyed at Wii U. They had better sales in games with a damn N64 or GameCube or even the regular Wii! Wii U was the worse system in sales and gameplay. Don't believe me? Ask your preteen, teen, or adult friends and ask if they have a Wii U. You'll be like "Hey, do you have a Wii U?" and they will be like "No. That's the worse system I have ever seen. An Xbox is better than that. A PSP is better than that.". Like really, if Nintendo wanted to make money, it should have made like a Gamecube 2 or N65 or whatever.

Gamecube 2 and Nintendo 65?

I can see the future of Nintendo thriving with you.

But no seriously.

Most of the games function in both a TV and the Gamepad.

The gamepad often either reproduces the game entirely, such as in Super Mario bros. U, or FIFA 13

Or has menus, inventories, etc.

If a game doesnt use it well, thats the designers problem, but every game Ive seen from NINTENDO that uses it does it well.

Especially Zombi U, that thing COULDNT be played in Multiplayer as well, without the gamepad.

Oh and FYI I find it very useful, because my roomate watches TV a lot and we only have 1.

Ive been sort of hoping for them to do that.....but who would BUY a console from Sega?

After theyve been like 10 years away from the console market, and focusing on making hit-and-miss Sonic games?

Also SSB is on the 3ds

Though it cant be denied, the Wii U isnt doing so well, sales-wise...but I can definitely say that that's because of absolutely horrible marketing.

When I saw the commercial I thought it was like an...advanced Wii Remote or something...

It kinda does

Son if you're going to spam, it has to be ironic and funny like the mods do.

THEY DON'T CARE THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE. I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM ONE UP SONY.

WAY BETTER THAN STEAMBOX EVER WILL BE.

I'd like the Wii U more if the pad was smaller.  But other than that you kind of sound like a 6 year old.

The Xbox and PSP aren't better and that is stupid. Now hear me out. They aren't better because they compare differently for what they do. PSP and Wii U are two completely different things that play and strive to do things differently.

It IS a nice concept, and props to Nintendo for once again striving to innovate.

Sony plays it safe too often.

And XBOX...eh...

Then again playstation always kicks everyone's arse...

But that's besides the point.

The WiiU is fucking great, I love it. We have yet to get some of the big name games on it, like SSB4, Mario Kart 8, whatever the next mainstreamZelda game is (not Hyrule Warriors), whatever the next 3D Mario game is (not 3D World, talking about the 64/Sunshine/Galaxy sort of game), etc., but even then it's already got great things like Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World, and the Wonderful 101.

And intially when I first saw it, I figured the gamepad would've just been a lame gimmick, but it actually works really well with games, and being able to play games on it without the need for a tv is surprisingly convenient and awesome.

Seriously Coolspy we have Video Games for a reason MOVED.

I've never owned one, but I've seen a few play throughs with games on the Wii U, I did like seeing the extra imputs such as Blowing (or you could just talk loudly) although they did seem to distract a little. Although really it's not too much different from the DS systems except with a Big Screen instead of the top one.

I think Nintendo could have done well with this, if they'd gotten the right titles, I suppose developers found it harder to make games for it.

I wouldn't buy one though, my sister is the main non-hand held console buyer in the house.

Wii is a step up from the N64 and Gamecube, given with the Virtual Console it can play older titles and can play Gamecube games anyway.

The shape of this paragraph must resemble the block that fell on your head as a child.

If there is ever an Earthbound reboot though, Wii U will be the best system to me.

An Earthbound reboot, you mean like a Virtual Console release?  A Virtual Console release that is now in the Wii U VC?  Or are you talking about a Mother 4, which is being developed by an Indie Group after taking Shigesato Itoi's challenge of making Mother 4 (PC only)?

I want one where the whole game is made to look like cleaner claymation. (not like that old point-and-click PC game of which name I can't remember- that was far too rugged)

Now as for you...

To play the Wii U you have to buy a console that comes with a gamepad. This WiiU gamepad functions exactly like a controller with the addition of gaining a touchscreen much like a tablet device, except much, much cheaper. If you do not like playing with the gamepad, you can instead use a Wii U pro controller, or for some games, a wiimote. It is not another TV, and don't be a smartass saying you need to have another TV. In fact, for a lot of games, you don't even need a first fucking TV.

to play cooler Wii games. Why the hell do I need another retard ass screen to play a Wii game?!

Why do I need a PS4 to play a PS3 game? Why do I need an Xbox One to play an Xbox 360 game? Why do I need to read your inane comments that lead to nowhere to have a conversation with you? You make sense. I like you.

Oh I know. It's to find secrets and myteries in the map. some side quest or something. I don't give a F about getting those secrets.

You're asking for the simplest of games then? How inane.

It's especially dumb of you to assume that something that functions much like a tablet has only a single possible use. Especially without even acknowledging offscreen play in the slightest.

I just want to complete the game!

Play Flappy Bird, you'll love it.

They have people bending their necks to watch frickin small things in the map that doesn't even matter. I... DON'T.. WANT... TO BEND... MY NECK... TO PLAY.... A GAME!

Don't be a bum. Do you need someone to move your head an inch forward for you? Is that too much of a challenge for you? How pitiful. Second screen viewing is quickly becoming a norm for television, adding one on to gaming is actually very handy, especially since it's part of the system itself. Putting it into one device was a smart way to go about it, especially if Nintendo decides to begin moving into taking over not only the living room, but an entire home as well.

And again with the assuming the screen's only use is a map. It must be like how you assume your arse is only meant for sticking your head up it. That's why you haven't had a bowel movement in the 3 years you've been alive, leaving you constipated, agitated, and worst of all, full of 3 years worth of shit.

It's like a DS, but somehow worse. At least with the DS i only have one screen and don't have to look down every 5 seconds for a piece of crap in the ground that I don't even need.

Your assumptions continue and we're not even halfway done. Does your mother know you snuck out of your crib? Oh, and if you don't want the "crap in the ground"– assuming that the game does use a map showing hidden things– you DO know you don't need to look down to find it, right? Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot I shouldn't put faith in your critical thinking skills.

Did you even play the DS? For that matter, have you even played the Wii U? Do you have any idea how it works? Have you even seen one? Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot they probably don't have technology like that in the boonies.

Nintendo was destroyed at Wii U. They had better sales in games with a damn N64 or GameCube or even the regular Wii!

Kay, 2 things. 1: they're not destroyed in the slightest. Wii U sales have been picking up and their 3DS system was the best-sold system on the market last year. Beating the PS4 and Xbox One. Secondly: Of course they had better sales than the fucking wii, you dumbass! The Wii was the 3rd best selling console of all fucking time. It's only beaten out by the PS2 and PS1– the latter of which it's likely to get past at some point.

Actually, I ask most people and their response is: "I would buy it if I had the money for it." Kinda deflates your whole argument, huh? The Wii U is most definitely better than an original Xbox. Xbox was a Halo machine. It had no other purpose in life. Wii U already has more than enough to be considered better than it. And I have no idea why you're comparing a handheld to a console again. You'd have to be an idiot to keep that up– oh wait, sorry. Forgot.

Oh, and stop acting dumb as if the Wii U is a thing of the past. It's doing damn well fine at the moment and is about to get Mariokart and Smash Bros. Two of the biggest system sellers in existence.

Like really, if Nintendo wanted to make money, it should have made like a Gamecube 2 or N65 or whatever.

So... first you imply that the Gamecube and N64 are bad... then you go on to tell me that those two systems– Nintendo's worst-selling gaming machines of all time (ignoring the Virtual Boy and Color TV Game)– should have had successor systems. Do you know how businesses work?

Hey mods... so can we just ban people who are obviously either too young for the internet or blatant trolls? I think we should.

If a game doesnt use it well, thats the designers problem, but every game Ive seen from NINTENDO that uses it does it well.

Especially Zombi U, that thing COULDNT be played in Multiplayer as well, without the gamepad.

Zombie U was Ubisoft. Just thought I'd mention.

Besides I'm just waiting until Sega releases some super crazy new Dreamcast that's as powerful as a PC but half the cost or something as a dying f*** you to the gaming industry.

I'm betting on Nintendo actually going out and buying them before that.

but I can definitely say that that's because of absolutely horrible marketing.

Wii U is great it's just very poorly advertised.

Wii U is a great console.

It was just poorly advertised as Tormented said and the 3rd parties dropped the ball at launch.

Great concept, done well by Nintendo games, but sadly no third party support to keep it alive. Crappy advertising might also have something to do with it.

The Wii U isn't the problem, Nintendo's marketing is.

I think it would be ignorant not to at least acknowledge its inferiority spec-wise compared to the PS4 and Xbox One. That was the biggest problem they faced, specifically with the hardcore community that was going to know about it, with advertising or without.

Advertising only came into play for the general audience that all bought the Wii... and who probably weren't going to buy another one because they either didn't see the need or regretted buying the original.

But this does bring up a problem Nintendo has had with the Wii U and presentation. For the Wii, their advertising was off-the-charts good, and the Wii itself was iconic and very aesthetically pleasing. The Wii U has had virtually no advertising, and when it does, it's terrible. Not to mention the focus has all been on the gamepad while the box itself was so boringly designed that even when focused on, it just doesn't stand out.

Aesthetically even the gamepad is a bit problematic:

I'd like the Wii U more if the pad was smaller.

Nintendo seems to constantly have a problem of making their tech too bulky. They've been able to get past it up until now because it's mainly been with handhelds and they can just release redesigns fast. They don't do that with consoles though. If they redesigned the look of the Wii U and the gamepad to make them more easy to fit in the hand and the box to just stand out more... and yes, advertise better, they could really do a lot.

I'm only getting a Wii U for Super Smash Bros. Waste of money?

Consider that it comes on 3DS as well and think about how you would want to play that game. Also consider that online is probably going to suck because the 2D view multiplayer genre generally doesn't work well in online versions.

If you think about it, not many of Nintendo's franchises can really sell the system to non-Nintendo loyalists outside of SSB and Kart.

Metroid & F-ZERO are well liked and well thought of, but they don't sell.
Earthbound & Mother are basically unknown to the general masses, and certainly aren't system sellers except for a niche audience.
Mario is great and all, but we've had way too many Mario games in the past few years.
Zelda is great and all, but they'll need a rethought showing on the level of Link Between Worlds and maybe something more. Though many gamers basically hold the same thoughts for Zelda as they do for Mario: they're the same game everytime and nothing new.
Kirby & Yoshi are kids-oriented at this point, with the latter just having come out with a subpar release.
Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing have had much better showings on handhelds.
Nintendo just refuses to put a full-fledged Pokémon game on a home console, even though that would probably sell everything they have.
I can't even imagine what they would do to try to modernize Star Fox. There's not that much room for improvement past what they did originally.
Kid Icarus is something they could try out on consoles. It'd be intersting to see if it sells.

Really, I think they need something big. I mean something that's scale, ambition, and aesthetics just make people say "wow"

Or they could release new games in every franchise I've spoken of so far and sell systems for ALL of the different niche audiences.

People hold that thought, but it's blatantly false.  If anything, Link Between Worlds was a return to form.

There are a number of reasons that you'll never see a Pokemon game on a home console.

The Wii U's problem is branding.  It has a negative stigma attached to it.  A lot of people say, "If Nintendo just released XYZ and made it exactly how I want it the Wii U would sell 10000000 units."  No single thing will save the Wii U.  It just isn't that simple.
