I grew up playing Mario kart games. Rainbow Road always f**** me up no matter how good I get.

Only Rainbow Road on the Wii version got me good.  However, the last time I played through it, I actually managed to get 1st place on Mirror Mode without falling out once.

You are karting god my friend. I've never even thought about attempting Rainbow Road on Mirror Mode.

I had to if I wanted to unlock everything in the game.  Want to talk about difficult, try to play F-Zero GX's story mode through very hard difficulty.  You'd rather play through Rainbow Road on Mirror Cup on Wii after you are through with that.

I've never actually played F-Zero before. Did you enjoy it as much as Mario Kart?

I actually did.  The game handles smoother than velvet and you don't need to worry about something like the Blue Shell hitting you.  Plus, the vehicles go at an average of 1600 km/h

F-Zero is one of those games that just holds up well on a technical aspect. I really hope they make another one, because while it held up, there was a lot more they could have done to make it accessible.

Rainbow Road is always hard for me the first few times I play it, then I get good and don't care. The 2 on the 3DS were probably the least troublesome (excluding the impossibly easy one on the n64). Hardest one was probably Double Dash, because I only first played it after playing the newer ones for a while and all the karts are so floaty that turning left can send you off the ledge to the right.

The original SNES Rainbow Road was actually pretty nice...and of course, every singleRainbow Road has been dickish.

But oh well, we train for a reason

And yesss if someone hits you with lighting, then with a blue shell, then with a red shell, and you fall off

Its absolutely horrible.

Lemme just wetten everybody's everything.

SNES Rainbow Road & DS's Cheep Cheep Beach side-by-side races. Showing off the features of the gamepad including OFFSCREEN PLAY YAY!

A few races showing off new and redone tracks.

New items like the Boomerang, a Piranha Plant that works like in 3D World. Also 2 unknown items including an 8, which'll probs be like the 7 in the 3DS version.

Talk about how they would like to use Double Dash's mechanics as well as custom stages in the future (not this game :( ) if they can figure out how to fit it all in and do it right.

Metal Mario's back.

And just frankly a s*** ton more videos.

An embargo lifted at midnight, so there's a s*** ton of stuff coming out to look into pretty much everywhere.

MK7 is what has me addicted XP

So IDK about mediocre... why do you think that?

Eh, the gimmicks really don't do it for me, the glide and the underwater that is.

Other than that I think the character roster is rubbish. Not saying the game is bad, it just doesn't really do it for me, if you like it that's your own prerogative. :3

You know, I never really remember seeing anything motorcycle related with this game; Glad to know they kept them.
(I never really used bikes in Wii, but still)

The bubble bike was my shit. Baby weegee all day, son.

Thank god they removed the wheelie function though. That was a big factor of why I detest Mario Kart Wii.

I also just read that the Retro Rainbow Road track is only one lap with 3 parts (like they did in Mario Kart 7). I am quite upset at that. I really dislike all of the one lap tracks, but especially this version since this Rainbow Road loops back around to the start, so you can't go for another round unless you want to redo the whole race again.

There's probably a function to add in another lap.

And I'm not as upset about it considering just how long that track was to begin with. Playing MK64 again, I completely understand why they did that.

...and you hated the wheelies? Why?

Agree that making it one lap was for the best. Is a little sad that we don't get to spend more time on the sweet stage, but what can you do.

I'd assume the reason he dislikes wheelies is because it made the bikes simply better than the karts. At least, thats how I felt when I played.

Never really thought about it like that.

Like, I barely ever even used the wheelie, except to have fun. I never cared about playing MK competitively, either. Friends and I don't really care who wins, as long as it was an entertaining race.

For example, in Double Dash, where my friend had finally taken a lead on DK Mountain at the end of the race and was pulling away going onto the bridge. I had one last shot to beat him with an item box and managed a Chain Chomp. Blew past him, knocked him off the ledge and took first place.

Those types of moments are the best.
