Nicο
What I don't like is that every time I turn it on, it reverts the kart to standard and I keep forgetting to switch the glider... That, and the triple mushrooms are the most changed out of the triple items, you can totally steal them.
Agro
Speaking of karts and characters, what's everyone's mains so far?
Lonk
What about the fact that an item that can be used defensively isn't guaranteed in 1st place (you can get a coin item)? Also, I'm fond of using either the Yoshi Bike, Standard ATV or Prancer bodies, Metal, Slim or Off-Road wheels and the MKTV Parafoil. My main character is always Yoshi. Agro
Coin basically took the place of fake item boxes, which, while capable of damaging opponents, didn't defend you from shells. (they aren't still in this game, are they? I haven't seen them)

(they aren't still in this game, are they? I haven't seen them) Fake Item Boxes aren't in there, and all what the Coin item does is add +2 coins to your coin count (no damage capability). While it does help sponge a blow to your coin total, it doesn't do much outside of gathering momentum while being practically useless if your coins are already maxed out. The reason you stated was the reason why Fake Item Boxes were removed in the first place.
Nicο
Speaking of karts and characters, what's everyone's mains so far? I do really like Pipe Frame, if only because it helped me so much in single player MK7, somehow... don't REALLY know which one to main just yet, though. I've just been using the wooden wheels although I really feel I should experiment a bit, still. I will never get a hang of the Mach Bike, and the Jet Bike feels similar, although I am better at it, but I won't be using it. I'd say Shy Guy & Baby Daisy, Idk, Shy Guy is who I am, and I just prefer using small characters. in this I really like the way the colors work with dat yellow & brown. Also, I'm fond of using either the Yoshi Bike, Standard ATV or Prancer bodies, Metal, Slim or Off-Road wheels and the MKTV Parafoil. My main character is always Yoshi. Makes me want to keep my Banana for as long as I can, instead of setting it. I saw a Yoshi riding a Yoshi bike too, I want it if only to do that once. I just shielded against my first blue shell. Feels good. With a baby riding atop a Flame Rider, no less.
Thar
Koopa is my main. As for karts, I always loved the Bullet Bike from the Wii. Sucks that it's not in 7 that I know of (assuming it's not an unlockable item.)

Agro
Just 3 starred all the 100 ccOnce again, Royal Raceway went aggro on me in the final lap or so. I had the same thing but like 100x rougher in Dolphin Shoals. And because Bananas are the bane of my existence, I dodged one in the final lap of rainbow road that made me need to slow down to avoid falling off and ended up just coming in second because of it.I'm running into a lot more bananas and getting hit with a lot more green shells in this game than usual. It's weird. Kinda wish this were like DS and 7 where the Gamepad has the small section of the map so I can see all the racers and items in the general vicinity.Strangely enough, though, did not fall off on Rainbow Road once in 100cc.Still expecting it to happen in 150 cc though. That's what I usually have it on, although I don't tend to look down and if I wanted to play without the TV, which would be a given sometimes, I wouldn't be able to see it. Lonk
Rainbow Road is easy if you know how to drift along the last leg. I can go full wiitaad on that track and win.
Agro
Yeah, the only reason that track caused me ANY trouble, which was, at most, making me slow down for a second or so twice my first time through, was that I was unsure about how to deal with the spinboosters (or whatever they're called) on the final leg, as well as figuring out not to use the drift boost in the middle of the final loop. Also, Ene, I added you as a friend on the Wii U, but I couldn't get online to play with ya just yet. Wi-fi is shoddy where I have my Wii U, so I'm going to move it elsewhere in my house and see if it works better.

I have that problem sometimes too, but usually not with my Wii U since my living room's good and I use that huuuge HDTV! I still think it's kinda a waste but it looks amazing. Flame Dragon
The only nerf defensive items got was not being able to use 2 of them. All the rest are still the same as long as you know how to play them. It makes you reconsider whether to waste a shell or a banana to get ahead of one opponent in exchange for losing a defensive item. Plus Bananas now defend all sides of you instead of just behind you. The real nerf might be the triple mushrooms, which can now be stolen if you're not careful. Also, I managed to Super Horn a Blue Shell on Dry Dry Desert... of which's name is funny now, btw, because it has an oasis. Triple Banana is also worse in that its no longer a sure fire way to protect against 3 shells. From the game play I've seen though, this isn't as big of an issue since it looks like they pulled back a bit on how agressive the items are. Also, does the blue shell no function exactly like how it did in MK64?

It better protects against green shells coming in from any angle besides behind you.It comes flying in, can hit people on the way, and it takes quite a bit of time hovering over the target. Nicο
My current worst course is looking to be Donut Plains 3. I do better after the 2nd water spot when I decide not to drift, and I almost made 1st in my 100cc try, but then a shell slipped me up.
Agro
Worst for me is continuing to be Royal Raceway. I keep finding ways to get wrecked by items.Least favorite might be Yoshi Valley.
Nicο
Got through it. That must have been the trick, at least for me. I think I don't like Yoshi Valley all that much either, I can't even remember it as easily as Mushroom cup's courses. Those are simple but enjoyable. I pretty much have some level of liking toward all the other's though. I have to say, I think the 3DS courses chosen are my top 3 (of MK7), not sure what is my favorite though, out of any game really. Really enjoy Rock Rock Moutain, too. My brother seems to not like any of MK7's courses, though.
Agro
A lot of the MK7 courses were just boring to me. Wario's Shipyard, Neo Bowser City, and Daisy Hills were cool.I guess i'm hard on it tho cause I always compare it to DS's levels.
Nicο
Eh, it might be because I played 7 first, but I played through all of DS's courses and found them more boring instead. Tick-Tock's a lot better in 8 tho, one of my favs.
DL
MK7s OLD tracks were sucky the NEW tracks, like Music Park and Neo Bowser City were nice. Also....a lot of times 3 bananas would be taken out at ONCE with ONE shell. If anything now its better. Also you can just use them....Or can't you pay a bit of attention to whats behind you? XD My mains are Toad, Toadette, Luigi, and Im getting to like the rainbow-haired koopaling.
Agro
Maybe. From DS I really liked Yoshi Falls, Delfino Square, Waluigi Pinball, Tick-Tock Clock (it was a lot harder in DS, imo), Airship Fortress, Wario Stadium, and Bowser's Castle. Its retro courses weren't as good, but it was also the first time it had retro courses, plus MK7 has like the best retro courses behind MK8. DS had Baby Park tho, so the rest don't matter, lol.
