Dark Souls Discussion Thread

Obviously this includes the second game as well.

I absolutely LOVE this game series and have mostly been impressed with II so far, but I do have some issues with it I'll discuss later.

So anyway post stats/favorite weapons/bosses etc on both games and discuss it.

Feel free to post what system you have it on and if you play it online.

So Yeah.

Prepare.

To.

Die.

a lot more than you'd like

From your experiences, would you say Dark Souls II has been easier or harder than the original?

Ehhh they are tied so far maybe.

DSI was freaking hard and while DSII is I already have the experience from DSI.

Also some stuff in Dark Souls II seems easier to get than in One.

I recently beat the Gargoyles and I'm proud of myself.

Of course that dude you summon did most of the damage. >_>

lol you could summon 2 guys

But yeah Solaire (I assume) is freaking amazing. I'm throwing Lightning Spears in both games now.

So what build do you go for? Quality, Faith, Strength, Int, or Dex?

I go for Strength being primary with Dex, Health, Stamina/Equip Load all getting some balance. I mean my strength was at like 25

while HP Dex Load and Stamina were at 20. But that was Dark Souls two. Dark Souls one? Strength and HP were largest by far but those were still second.

And then after a while I start adding Faith. Then Intelligence. For example while my strength was still at 25 I suddenly found my faith from 5 to 36. xD I love the miracles and pyromancies.

Spells are neat too but I see them in a different light.

I had a Guts build going but I just couldn't beat the Hydra, and I ended up aggroing a s*** ton of NPCs. I'm probably going to restart and just go Wanderer since I usually prefer rolling to blocking attacks

uh you never HAVE to fight the hydra

ever

you can

but it's not even a boss

Also Dark Souls One is harder than Dark Souls II. IMO.

NO MAN I HAVE TO BEAT HIM I CAN'T LET HIM JUST LIVE. Also I was double cursed. Should've mentioned that xD. Just restarted and I'm currently in the Burg.

Is it easier as in less clunky or easier as in less enemies? (interface vs gameplay?)

Uh m8 guess what

there are two hydras in the game

lol

And DSII felt easier because I feel they give you a TON of Souls for stuff

also i'm used to dark souls

finally i took the hard route first without realizing it. it felt easier afterwards

=P

In addition it just feels like getting the teleport feature at the beginning makes the game too easy.

Have you tried uping the difficulty by joining that one covenant & using the item that increases the difficulty of enemies around the area of a bonfire?

I'm not joining the covenant but I will use the Bonfire Ascetic. Eventually.

I mean don't get me wrong both games were dang intense as hell, and the enemies in Dark Souls II are WAYYYYY stronger but Dark Souls I was much harder to navigate and find all the hidden things in.

No man you don't understand, I aggro'd nearly everyone at firelink, the  female undead merchant, and I was double cursed, meaning I had a quarter health and no way to undo it.

EDIT: I thought you were talking to me about the whole new file business.

But yeah my plunge attack isn't nearly as powerful, so I'm going to go learn some miracles and/or sorcery and maybe get some nice dosh at Darkroot first.

Psh I didn't do sorcery til playthrough 4-5.

Uh and I was kinda talking to you.

=P
You don't need those NPCs to beat the game sooooo....

And cursestones can be bought, last I checked.

Well I couldn't make it to Firelink without being killed, I aggro'd the female undead merchant, and Oswald was being protected by the horde of pink dudes, making it impossible to reach him on just a quarter healthbar with my tank build (like one of their heavy hits killed me >.>). THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO GET THE CURSESTONE THING BRO IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. IF ANYTHING ELSE HIT ME JUST ONCE I GOT KILLED END OF STORY.

Of course I was offline the entire time I played it that time, so since then I believe a new patch prevents curse from stacking, right?
