sniperray213
I made a new deck today and tested it out. It went really well against a friend but there was a problem with summoning XYZ monsters. My friend told me that xyz summoning is a Tribute summon and not a special summon. Is this True because I need to know cuz I had 2 lvl 4 and 3 star monsters and could xyz summon a Rank 3 and 4 monster. Is XYZ summoning Trubuting monsters to bring a Rank monster out or is it a Special Summon? Need to know this for later duels. let me know asap. VictorSempra
There, a legitimate question. Xyz is counted as Special Summoning.

Is the. Biggest. Idiot. Ever. You literally stack the two+ cards, slide them under the monster, and it is a Special Summon. Tributing does not ever overlay two cards. And for hardcore players, I hope you appreciate this.....lolHieratics And I really didn't want to bring this up, but.....Rule Book has it all. In addition, it may be confusing but....this is in the wrong section. It should be in one of the TCG sections.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Above user already summed it up. Xyz Summoning DOES NOT tribute the material monsters. Instead, they remain on the field (sort of) as Xyz Materials for the monster to use the effects that require a detach. While the materials go to the graveyard after usage, it's considered a "detach" and not a Tribute. Xyz are Extra Deck monsters, thus they are Special Summoning. Your friend seriously needs to open the rulebook and read that part on Xyz Monsters, because it's printed clearly on how it works. Do we need to mention that Synchro/Fusion are also not considered tributing, or he/she understands that point?
Sleepy
I'm backing up all the posts above. Xyz Summon is a type of Special Summon. Your friend just told you that because he didn't wanna lose that game(s). That or he actually doesn't know how to play very well.

Sleepy
C. All of the above. Indeed I've seen a lot of BS calls from bad losers throughout my years. "You have to get me exactly to 0 Life to win or else I gain back the difference" "My Monarch is no longer Tribute Summoned because it's been a few turns since it was Summoned, that's why your Blast Held By a Tribute is never used" And the most BS one. My cousin once invited me to play back around 2003, and he tried to take advantage of my lack of knowledge in English to go stupid. He randomly invited me to play and started by Summoning Little Chimera, flipping it 4 times in random positions and saying he had won with that secret move. I just told him he shouldn't have invited me to play if he didn't wanna play.

Whenever I dueled as a kid the only one making BS up was me. My bro CED or something when I was like 7 sent a fusion (Wingman baby ) back to my HAND And I argued that it literally was added to my hand until he agreed and then I tribute summoned it next turn xD Now I wanted to say I legit did not know it didn't work that way- I haven't rule sharked yet. =P
Flash Flyer - Sakura
A couple months ago, I was playing this 12-year old kid I know (in a best of 3 casual duel, since I don't have time to play regionals and no tournaments are in my area). He plays Photon Sanctuary and proceeds to summon Ancient Gear Golem in same turn (which is EARTH; Sanctuary locks non-LIGHT monsters from being summoned that turn). He did it twice during the duel. Should've called him on that, but I was preoccupied with other things [and I forgot the effect] so guess I deserved to get creamed by it. (I beat him in the later matches though) Other than that, I've gotten my fair share of bad calls with people too (even when they're using Decks I'm letting them borrow so I know what's in there and how the effects work). VictorSempra
I did that a lot when Synchros first came out. Everyone immediately had their decks built for it, and I was stopping tournaments to go "Wait, what the hell did you just do?" I actually caught a couple people trying to pull fast ones doing that crap, had them DQ'ed from the tournament.
goddamnit names are a pain
My issue with trying to cheat in Yugioh is that I can't fathom how to cheat in such a game. xD I honestly don't get why other people think they can get away with it. Now I mean cheat as in rule shark or do something stupid- it's easy enough to get away with stacking and the like. Well I just realized I'm sending this thread in the wrong direction. Hope this helped you m8

Because they take it way too seriously. We live in an age where everything is "play to win." That's why I refuse to use meta-level decks, I prefer to have fun with it. I wish we had more players like this. =D Now we should shut up and just have this thread locked because it's done.
