I don't use cloth. I use duct tape.
And I'm not saying you're stupid for not having chamfers. I'm just saying if it were ME, I'd put them in just to give it some pizazz.

Also, hammers can also deal damage with the top of the head, not the side. Ever seen someone use a hammer like a battering ram on someone's head? Sh*t's hilarious, and usually more practical in close combat.

You can't use duct tape, that's what I'm trying to tell you :| It has to be a CLOTH cover. I do so love when people blatantly ignore what you tell them...

And hitting with the top isn't counted, only the side. Nor can you hit people in the head.

The sessions I went to used nothing BUT duct tape for their weapons... and the PCs with hammers dealt damage with 66% of the hits being with the top. Nobody complained.

Good for them? Go read my OP again, since you apparently ignored it.

Your OP could use some pizzaz, could I recommend some chamfers? :'O

OT: Never been part of a LARP, and even though I've been interested in the past, I live in redneck central and there is literally no chance that a group could exist here. :'<

I find the whole concept really interesting though, and if I ever get the chance to, I'll probably at least try to learn a little more about it.

I read the OP twice and I didn't see ANYTHING that proves any point you're trying to make right now. All I'm doing is pitching in my ideas based on how I've been taught to make weapons, and all I've been getting from you is a bunch of butthurt filled with bias for one of MANY standards towards a universal hobby that isn't even taken seriously half the time.

I don't even know why you're getting so frustrated over this. It's YOUR hammer. Do what you f*cking want with it. I never said you're doing sh*t wrong here, but you are CERTAINLY taking sh*t the wrong way.

Bite me, ya sensitive rabid squirrel.

"head/neck shots hit are illegal for safety reasons" Hey look, one of my points, in the OP. Also, when I say I don't want to build something a certain way, stop trying to "insist" it upon me, I really don't give a damn if you like the way it might look or not. If I was LOOKING for build advice, I'd ask. Since I see no question on building, that "help" becomes a hindrance.

It's definitely worth a try. More often than not it's a group of good people who'll treat you like family, and fantastic for exercise. Also makes a great outlet for anger issues :P

Headshots were actually considered one-hit kills, or fatal blows. I dont think there was a single session that I walked out of with a bloody nose. Sh*t was intense, and I loved every minute of it.

We also used a battle mechanic that gave each of our limbs HP. If a limb has 0, you're "disarmed" and crippled until you respawned.

One word: Liability.

That'll become a problem very quick, because most official groups have to register with Parks and Rec. services, and any injuries they cause they can be held liable for.

Liability wasn't an issue. The safety regulations were usually made clear before the session began, and if you didn't follow them, then either you or someone else would get hurt, and the violater was held responsible and dealt with accordingly. The hosts were heavily obliged to these regulations, so they never needed to feel responsible for any injuries... but they were concerned nonetheless and would do anything they could to help.
