Cardfight! Vanguard (Anime, not the card game)

Recommended Posts

Because season 3 is ending soon, and its finale is looking to be amazing, and we're apparently getting major changes in season 4.

For the uninitiated, six reasons to watch CF!!V.
The characters are fun to watch

What the bold text says. The show is really about the characters instead its story (which is pretty meh.) To go over the main cast.

There's our hero, Aichi, a bully-magnet who starts playing CFV, and becomes a more assertive person as the show goes on

There's the show's Kaiba, Kai, who Aichi idolizes despite Kai being a jackass and I hate him and I hope he really does *spoiler* after the *spoiler*

There's Misaki, the female lead who strikes terror into the souls of men with her cold, threatening personality.

There's Kamui, the loud, slightly obnoxious kid who can't get sayings right.

There's Miwa, everybody's best friend

Then, there's the star of the show...

MORIKAWA, THE STRONGEST CHARACTER IN THE HISTORY OF ANIME. the guy who sucks at deckbuilding, but he gets all the best lines, and he later becomes a...

...

Watch the first season.

Oh, and that one guy with curly hair who is Morikawa's wingman.

But, there are a lot of characters who show up now and then, mainly when it's time to sell new cards for their decks, but are amazing characters.
Bromance. Bromance everywhere.

Aichi x Kai (the main one)

Aichi x Kamui (is the subject of a gay joke, and even once called a "bromance" in-show)

Aichi x Ren

AIchi x Naoki(?)

Miwa x Kai

Kai x Ren

Yeah, Aichi gets around.

The dub is substantially better than the Japanese version

Bet you've never heard that said about any anime ever. Well, guess what? Bushiroad dubs the anime themselves.

The protagonist loses games, a lot

Aichi is new to the game at the beginning of the series, and obviously, makes a lot of mistakes. And, Aichi loses games (on-screen) as a result.

Aichi loses a lot of games, including the ones that matter.

Strong female lead

Remember Tea and Kotori? Remember how useless they were? Pepperridge Farm remembers. So did Bushiroad evidently when they made Misaki a superior player to Aichi, and defeated him more than once in the show's run. Not only is she a major member of the team, she even has two starter decks based on her in the real life game.

Also, this.

Yes.

That.

The characters edit their decks often, and on-screen

One of the highlights of the first season was seeing the characters frequently edit their decks and playtest. It's a thing real life card gamers do, which makes it a great way to sell new expansions.

Every season, the main cast all run completely different decks (in AIchi's case, for silly story reasons.)

In season 3, Aichi switches his boss three times off-screen, which liberates the viewer of the monotony of seeing the same boss over and over and to sell cards.
"But, GOD MACHISMO, king of the universe, where can I watch Cardfight!! Vanguard for free, and legally?"

Well, drooling denizen of the internet. Bushiroad uploads dubbed episodes on their official Youtube channel. They're up to the early episodes of season 3, and upload two episodes bi-weekly.

"BUT, I ONLY LIKE THINGS IN JAPANESE BECAUSE EVERYTHING THE JAPANESE DO AND SAY ARE DEEP AND MEANINGFUL!!! Desu."

Uhhh...

Crunchy-

Hold on.

*Runs 12 feet away*

CRUNCHYROLL!!!

For the initiated...
OH MY GOD THE AICHI AND KAI BREAKUP!!!

I like Mizaki's calm and strict voice much better than the Yugioh GX-like tone they gave her in that dub in your link honestly.

Kamui DOES sound obnoxious in that dub doesn't it?..... Huh, I kinda feel bad about really shipping him with Emi now.

Aichi's voice is just..... so different.....

I'll stick with the sub thank you.

And I pretty much have missed out on half of the Link Joker arc. Though I do admit the characters are really fun to watch, even more so than the story or even the game at times.

I'm liking the looks of the Season 4 poster:

Dem new characters.

Better look at Aichi's new outfit:

Synopsis:

Several days after the mortal battle against Link Joker which embroils the whole world, the world has returned to peace.

But Kai Toshiki faces a surprising situation. Sendou Aichi, the hero who saved the world from the invasion of Link Joker, has suddenly disappeared. In addition, everyone's memory about Aichi is lost...Almost all hints have been lost, and Kai starts to search Aichi with "Blaster Blade" and the deck of Royal Paladin, the only existing hint and the proof of their bonds.

Kai is approached by fighters who call themselves "Quatre Knights". The four---Gaillard, Neve, Ratie and Sarah---are fighters with world-class power in vanguard fights. They control mysterious power and urge Kai to give up searching Aichi. What is their purpose...!? And what is their relationship with Aichi...!?

Kai, with the new power "Legion" in his hand, fights to take Aichi back. Now, the war has begun!

They'll dive right into the serious world-saving section right off the bad this time it seems.

Aichi seems implied to be the surprise enemy this time, because black outfit.... or leading those new characters in some sort of war or something no one else knows about.

Duh, Kai; If you wanna look for Blaster Blade go see Daig-*shot*

The part of Aichi disappearing and no one else remembering him except for Kai, really reminded me of the relationship Homura and Madoka have at the end of the series in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Except in this one, Madoka essentially becomes god... don't think Aichi goes that way in this show.

Sorry the moment in the trailer at 10 seconds is just hilarious. I can't look at that moment without thinking they are a couple.

It was... an alright series finale. Much better than the last one (But then again it was hard to do worse)

The trailer for the next series looks good. Even if it is just season 4 over again, and that one of the characters looks like if Leon and Aichi had an evil love child. And the guy at the top looks like a Daigo I don't want to punch.

I want to see some MiwaxMisaki next arc, rather than: EveryonexAichi. Since everyonexAichi almost gets boring. Or that it becomes EveryonexKai.

But no, it should be good hopefully. Like season 3 was overall.
